Memorial Hospital Patients at Memorial hospital, Woodstock, during the past week included Janet Adams, Carmen Langdon, Baby Leslie Thomas and Archie Biggers, Wonder Lake, Ethel McGee, John Powers, Ingebbrg Corcoran, Edwin Huff, Garrett Boor and Doris Monroe, McHenry. Harvard Hospital Theodore Ray and Rita Martin of McHenry were patients during the past week at Harvard hospital. g&HMMMH Twins, a girl and a boy, were born Jan. 31 in St. Joseph hospital, Elgin, to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thomas Knox, Jr., of Crystal Lake. The boy, weighing 2 lbs., 14 oz., was named William Vinctnt. The girl, weighing 3 lbs., 5 ozs., and turned Mary Catherine, lived only a day and a half. They have two other children. A son was born Feb. 13 at Memorial hospital to Mr. and MYs. Virgil Pollock. He has been named Christopher Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ahrens of Wonder Lake announce the arrival of a daughter Feb. 8 i at i Memorial i hospital^ - Wood- Jlock. N., of Hines were Sunday visitors in the home of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Williams. Mrs. Arlene Johns of Elgin and Mrs. Mary Lou Haverkamp of Dundee, were Sunday visitors in the home of Mrs. Nellie Bacon. Mrs. Peter J. Schaefer, accompanied by Mrs. Louise Molter of Pell Lake, returned Saturday from a three weeks train trip to California. In Spring Valley they visited Mrs. Joseph Kunze and in Los Wngeles they were guests of Mrs. Henry Bunch. They also spent jsome time in San Francisco and San Diego and visited many places of interest while gone. Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Mass, daughter, Melinda, and Joyce Adams attended the McHenry County Saddle Club dinner and dance held at V.F.W. hall in Woodstock Saturday evening. Richard Hayes and soi^, Larry, of Chicago, visited his mother, Mrs. Edith Hayes, Saturday. Sunday callers in the Hayes home were the Lloyd Whiting family and Clarence Whiting of Elgin. Mr. and Mrs. Nick M. Justen, daughter, Clarence, and granddaughters, Margie Justen and Greta Martin, visited Sister Nicele at Holy Ghost Convent, Wooddale, Supday. McHenry State Bank 2-16-61 OBITUARIES BELL MERKER Mrs. Bell W. Merker, 89, a native of McHenry, died Friday, Feb. 10, in her home m Belleville, 111., where she had resided for many years. Mrs. Merker was born here Sept. 5, 1872, a daughter of Amos and Lois Bassett Whiting. In 1894 she vras married to Philip Merker. She taught for more than a half century in the Belleville schools, retiring several years ago. Survivors are a son, David, of Belleville; three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lois Senne, of Crystal Lake. Her husband, two sisters and a brother preceded her in death. Graveside service were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday in Crystal Lake Union cemetery, with Rev. Lloyd Coleman officiating. Prior to that time the body rested at the Warner funeral home. Eulen D. Guess, 45, of Wonder Woods, Wonder. Lake, who died Thursday evening, Feb. S, in his home. He was a native of Marion, where he was born Jan. 14, 1916, son of Ida and Jesst» Guess. The deceased belonged to the W o o d s t o c k C a l v a r y B a p t i s t church and to the Masonic lodge of Marion. Besides his widow, Eula Mae, he leaves six children, Keith of Kentucky, Billy of Woodstock, Bernice, Donna, Steve and Sammy of Wonder Lake; and one grandson.
