Miss Ruth Beall and Mrs. Gladys Hogle. Church News The holy season of Lent was opened at St. Peter's church on X9I1 Wednesday with a mass at eight o'clock followed by distribution of ashes. In the evening there was rosary devotion and a sermon. Thursday afternoon the way of the cross was said at two o'clock and on Friday at eight there were stations of the cross and Benediction. Services will be held on this same schedule all (Jurying Lent at St. Peter's church. 100 members of the Holy .Name Society and thirty Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts attended eight o'clock mass and received holy communion in a body at St. Peter's church on Sunday morning^ Feb. 12. A breakfast of ham and eggs, rolls and coffee was served them after mass by members of the Christian Mothers sodality. Sodality Meets Members of the Christian Mothers sodality met at St. Peter's parish hall on Thursday evening for their regular meeting. In the absence of the president, Mrs. Frances Kabot presided. The chairmen of committees gave their reports and plans were made for the Deanery meeting on Feb. 20. A St. Patrick card party and Juncheon was announced for March 14. Cards and bunco were played and coffee was served. ceascd was born in Spring Grove in 1891 in the house now owned by John Sanborn.- She lived here until the age of thirty and then moved to Beloit, Wis., where she has been a resident for the past forty years. Survivors are one son and a daughter. Funeral services were held in Beloit. V.F.W. Auxiliary News by Florence Svoboda Boy Scout Parents and friends were invited to attend a meeting of the Boy Scout troop on Tuesday night at St. Peter's hall. Under the leadership of Pat Kagan the boy scouts put on a demonstration of first aid and it was very well done. We were ^lso entertained with songs from a group of boys. Ice cream and cookies were served the guests by the scouts. Girl Scouts Frances Block, reporter, tells me that the Girl Scout troop 519 had a valentine party at the fire house on Feb. 13. Our post donated transistor radios for the bed-ridden patients in our ward and we will also service these radios. The auxiliary will hold a bake sale Friday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. at the (iub house.
