The next order of business is to revamp the by-laws for the new organization. T v.' o controversial changes in the present by-laws are up for consideration; the number of directors to serve oi%the board, and the method of selection of officers. The committee on reorganization has specific recommendations on these changes and the membership will be asked to vote on them "at the March 2 meet« ing at the V.F.W. hall. Membership in the club and attendance at the monthly meeting, the first Thursday of each month, 'frill benefit every adult n£@ent of McHenry Shores. Political Representation Herbert Clausen accompanied Jack Risting to Woodstock on Feb. 13, where they conferred with Vernon W. Kays, County Clerk, and Lester Edinger, Clerk of the Circuit Court. Future political representation for our community was discussed. sTPhe new Republican committee for Nunda Township, Precinct 1, which includes McHenry Shores, is Jack Risting who replaces Elmer Granso. Mr. Ristings appointment was effective Jan. 15, 1961 and was accepted by him on a temporary basis. Daisy Smith is Rep u b l i c a n c o m m i t t e e w o m a n . Herbert Clausen and John Mclitfly are precinct captains for our community. Herbert Clausen is the Nunda Township Republican party candidate for assessor. William Corcoran is the Nunda Township Peoples party candidate for member of the board of auditors. Welcome hearty welcome is extendto the Partain family on Beach drive. Bill and Sara and their daughter, Becky, moved to McHenry Shores on Feb. 1 from Glen Ellyn, coran !s recuperating after major surgery. Little Kurt Pogor is recovering from a bout with the flu. Birthdays Happy Birthday to Alice Simbourger on% the twentyfourth. Sunday, Shirley Lamerand will be receiving birthday wishes. Jack Schmitt celebrates his birthday on Feb. 27. John Korner IV is a leap year lad and will celebrate his seventeenth birthday. Birthday wishes to Ron Verstege on March 1 and to William Pinkonsly, Jr. on March 2. In the "Kids Department", young Paul Tiggemann will be seven on Feb. 24. Greetings to all of you. Big Birthday Party Sunday, Feb. 12, was a day of celebration for Sherri, Randy and Gloria Schramm. A birthday party to honor three birthdays was a joyous occasion and those present to join in the festivities were Grandma and Grandpa Schramm, Grandma and Grandpa Nagle, Carl, Jean, and J e f f e r y Schramm, Don, Doris, Danny and Donny Schramm, Shirley, George, Roger, Jack and Gregory Stowe, and Susie Misiak. That was the year Bill retired. However, the inactive status soon lost its appeal and like many others, he found many new activities to keep him busy. He is now selling advertising specialties and also finds time to engage in community affairs. Bill was nominated by the Peoples Party of Nunda Township at the Feb. 6 caucus held at Crystal Lake to fill the position of township auditor. Afterwards the proud parents, A1 and Roberta, gave a dinner for thirty guests to celebrate the happy occasion. Sick List Theodore Ray is now home and recovering from a broken hip injury. Among her souvenirs is a medal given her by the King of Sweden as a reward for her contribution to the success of the Swedish Immigration Centennial held in Chicago in 1948. The Corcorans have one son and four grandchildren who reside in Winneconne, Wis. Here and There Marge and Larry Hicks entertained the Toffli family of Arlington Heights Saturdiay evening, Before company arrived, to keep a pan of sauer kraut from smelling, Marge placed it in" the clothes dryer and then forgot it. Much to her surprise Monday morning when .she put her clothes in the dryer, she heard a loud banging, and upon opening the dryer door, discovered Larry's shirts dotted with sauer kraut. Leah and Ed Hogan were in Chicago Saturday evening and had dinner with friends. The McKellys, Willis and Terry Coates, and the Maccallums enjoyed a special perch dinner in Crystal Lake Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. H. Schaffrath of Chicago spent the weekend with Ray and Barb Pogor. Louise Winters and her two daughters, Nancy and Mary Ann, journeyed to Philadelphia over the weekend. The mode of travel was by plane, of course. An annual affair, a smorgasbord dinner at the high school in Palatine, was enjoyed by Mildred Snively, the Middlekauffs, the MacCallums, the Dodges, Gus and Helen Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. King. Afterwards, everyone drove to the home of Mr. and Mrs. King for entertainment and a nightcap. A candlelight sweet heart dinner sponsored by St. Paul's church at the American Legion hall Feb. 14 was attended by Art and Alice Brunke and Jack and Gloria Schramm. Bev and Ron Verstege drove to Skokie to visit with Ed and Callie Harms over the weekend. Bob Tanner was home from the hospital for a few days. After five weeks away from home, the Brod family is back in McHenry Shores. Mr. Brod and son/ Richard, joined Mrs. Brod in Bristol, Tenn., to attend the funeral of Mrs. Brod's mother. Later Mrs. Brod travelled to Durham, N. C. to be a special nurse for her sister who had undergone surgery. Gus and Helen Smith were in Milwaukee over the weekend. Tracy Brunke attended a birthday party for Rosalind Reese on her eighth birthday. An increase of 4,212 cases of gonorrhea during 1960 in Illinois has been reported by Dr. L. L. Fathcrree, director of the Department of Public Health. Last year 22,808 cases were recorded; 3,083 occurring downstate and 19,725 in Chicago.
