Eastwood Manor SUNDAY SERMON ON BEATITUDES AT FAITH CHURCH Marilyn Salo - EV. 5-6015 On Sunday, March 5, the sermon will be the sixth in a series on the beatitudes entitled "The Key to the Kingdom, Blessed are the pure in heart" On March 5-6 the Marinors club will paint the church basement. On Tuesday, March 7, the choir will meet for practice at 8 p.m. On Wednesday. March 8, there will be the fourth in a series of Lenten evening devotons, followed by a church membership class. Read chapter 7 of "The Way of Discipleship." The evening devotions will be read by Earl Murray. Bookmobile There has been a change, for the good, in regards to the bookmobile for our subdivision. The bookmobile will be at ou$>! barn on March 11 from 9:30 j a.m. - 10:30 a.m., and at Kent Acres, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. It will also be here on March 25. This is not a permanent ^arrangement. If the bookmobile is not used by us it will not return. Many other communities are waiting for this service, so if we do not use it they will give our time to those who will. ing with his first. Pleasant Duty On Sunday, Feb. 26, your humble correspondent and our oldest son, Dave, attended the annual Blue and Gold banquet at Johnsburg. One of the pleasing tasks of a neighborhood commissioner in the scouting program is the presenting of the charter to a group interested in bringing the advantages of scouting to the boys in a community for another year. Roller Skating Party The roller skating party was enjoyed by all who attended. It was a real, just for fun party, and fun is just what everyone had. We would like to thank the committee members who worked to make the event possible, Elmer Borcovan, committee chairman; James Peneck, Tim McCormack, Mat Mersch, Mrs. Lee Landin, Mrs. Helen Birmingham, Mrs. Amolee Mclntyre and Mrs. Pat Kellogg. This and That Peg and Walt took a day off last week to attend the Auto Show in Chicago. Peg enjoyed seeing (he lovely clothes worn by the models at the show, but it seems Walt was much too interested in the trucks to notice the models. But they did both agree that the new cars are really something to see. As an end to this perfect day they enjoyed dinner and then journeyed home. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Messer, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Woolwine. Mr. and Mrs. Harley Pohlman and Mr. and Mrs. John Barry all enjoyed an evening of bowling when they attended the McCullom Lake Men's bowling party on Feb. 18. After everyone bowled up an appetite a buffet supper was served. Later they all returned to the Campbell home where cake and coffee were served in honor of Lean s brother, Wayne Rollins, for his birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Woolwine enjoyed a weekend visit from Delores' mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Innocenti, of Addison. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Messer were delighted with a visit from Glen's sisters, Loraine and Kay Messer, of Melrose Park, on Sunday, Feb. 19. The afternoon was enjoyed by all as this was their first visit since the holidays. The Messers are looking forward to the coming weekend when they are expecting a visit from Glen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Messer, of Melrose Park. Birthdays March 2 will be shared by Dean Brodin, who will be five and Kevin Cary, who will be 11 .On March 3 little Patri' Monahan has his first big day. Also on March 3 Tom McCormack will be 14 and Mike Noonan will be 15. Political Affairs Herbert Clausen and John McKeiiy attended the monthly meeting of the Republican Central committee of McHenry County held at Woodstock on Feb. 20. Charles (Chuck) Miller, county chairman for the party, announced the resignation of Jack Risting as committeeman for Nunda Township, area 1, which includes'"McHenry Shores. John McKelly was elected to fill the vacancy. Birthday Parties A surprise dinner party for Marilyn Moore on her birthday was given by Paula and Harry Tiggemann on Feb. 21. Tom and Pat Burke, and Bill and Joan Dostal were there to help make Marilyn's party a success. Understand Marilyn was really surprised. Bobbie Mueller's sixth birthday on Feb. 20 was the occasion for a grand celebration at his home. Mom baked a special cake and Bobbie's guests included Billie Dostal, Linda, Nancy and Butch Hattan, Peggy Moore and Caxyn and Paulie Schmitt. Many happy returns, Robbie. Birthdays and Anniversaries Tomorrow, March 3, Marge I Hicks will celebrate her birthday. Saturday will be the day to congratulate Allen Mieritz and also Angeline Moravec. Happy birthday to Marvin Burchfield on March 6, and to Joe Reznicek on March 7. In the kids department, little Vicki Mieritz will be 4 years old on March 3 and Kathleen Burke will be expecting a party on her birthday, March 5. Emmet and Helen Barden moved to McHenry Shores in September, 1958, from Glenview to enjoy the country air and to be near to a pier where they can dock their big cabin cruiser. Watch for a new one to be launched in May. The Bardens keep busy. Emmet is a news cameraman with a Chicago newspaper and an alumni of the University of Detroit. Helen is a Navy civil service employee at Glenview Naval Air station and calls Northwestern University the old Alma Mater. Tfa^ir only son, Michael, lives with his wife, Marilyn, in Wheeling.
