Wives Of Firemen Entertain At Pot-Luck Wives of firemen from Company I entertained firemen on Sunday night at a pot-luck dinner at the firehouse at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Alvin Phannenstill and Mrs. Larry Brusso were cochairmen of the event, which included games and a social hour. Rtverview Camp Holds Belated Valentine Party Riverview Camp, No. 6818, R.N.A., held a belated Valentin^ j^ty.t Ja?t week.( Games were played and prizes awardsi, after which lunch was served which included a beautifully decorated cake in keeping with the occasion. Members are urged to attend the next meeting on March 21, when the camp will celebrate its fiftieth anniversary. A potluck lunch will be served at 6 p.m. Patrick Donahue will give the married couple's practical evaluation of marriage on Monday evening, March 6. Physical aspects will be explained to the men by Dr. William Nye, and to the ladies by Dr. Santo Ruggero, on Wednesday, March 8. Rev. William F. McMahon will conclude the sessions Friday evening, March 10, with discussion of actual marriage arrangements. Each couple completing this course will receive a irtiarriage training diploma, which will either eliminate or shorten their marriage instructions, usually given in their parishes. Although all Catholic engaged couples are expected to attend, this program is open to every engaged couple in McHenry county and surrounding towns. Jus.ten. A program on electronics will be presented. Mrs. Carl Weber will play organ selections and there will be vocal solos by Adele Froehlich. EPISCOPAL WOMEN TO PARTICIPATE IN LENTEN QUIET DAY WONDER LAKE CLUB SELECTS THEME FOR SHOW Home-School Group Will Meet March 6 The Home knd School association of St. Mary's school will hold a regular meeting Monday, March 6, at 8 o'clock. The musical program will be given by the upper grades of the school. A Lenten Quiet Day has been arranged for the Episcopal churchwomen of the Lake Shore deanery on March 16 at St. Elizabeth's church in Glencoe. The day, which is devoted to private meditation and inspirational addresses, will begin with Holy Communion at 10 a.m. Women from this community who will attend are Mrs. Stanley Sweeney and Mrs. Ed. Robel. The Rev. William H. Baar, rector of the host parish, will conduct the devotional day. Father Baar is an eminent clergyman widely known for his contributions to church p u b l i c a t i o n s and e x t e n s i v e speaking engagements. DIRECTS SKIT Miss Cindy Freund, 408 Riverside drive, is the director of a skit to be presented at the annual Varsity Varieties student talent show March 5 and 6 at Marquette university in Milwaukee, Wis. The skit entitled "A Gambler's Dream" will be given by Kappa Beta Gamma, national social sorority, which was one of fifteen groups to pass preliminary auditions. Miss Freund is enrolled in Marquette's college of nursing. The Wonder Lake Garden club met recently at the home of Mrs. Edward Cannon of Lake Shore Drive. Eleven members and three guests where present. Roll call was answered with "A Theme For Our Flower Show". ,The theme decided on for the flower show was "Flowers and Music". The dates where set for Aug. 12 and 13 and the place is Harrison school. Mrs. A. Nagle gave the lesson on "Trees". Members brought arrangements in a tea cup appropiate for a valentine. Also on display were shells, plant-life and sand dollars sent to the club by Mrs. Kleibert from Florida. The members and guests went on a tour of Flowerwood, there they learned how camellias and gardenias are grown. Two of the Junior Garden club members, Jackie Hanson and Donna Mae Dean, gave a lecture on how they forced hyacinths into bloom in October and how they planted them. The newest arrival is Lindy, the seventh daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Murl Blowers, of Fox Lake, born at the Memorial hospital Feb. 20. Lindy's sisters are Diane, Pat, Pam, Debby, Kim and Kelli. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Blowers of Fox Lake are the paternal grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Croak of Chicago are parents of a daughter, born Friday, Feb. 24. Mrs. Croak is the former Kay Bacon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bacon of Crystal Lake. The new baby has a sister, Kathleen, 21 months old. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Croak of Woodstock are the paternal grandparents and the maternal great-grandmother is Mrs. Nellie Bacon of this city. Mr. and Mrs. William B. VETS ENTERTAIN OTHER BARRACKS OF DISTRICT MAY 7 The regular monthly meeting of the Veterans of World War I, McHenry Barracks, will be held tonight (Thursday) March 2, at 8 p.m. in the Legion home. Nine members of the barracks travelled to Elgin recently to attend the district meeting. Although one of the smaller groups, McHenry had the largest proportionate representation. The local barracks will be host to the district meeting on May 7. C., and Mrs. Anna Miller have returned from a three weeks trip to Florida where they visited Key West, Miami and St. Petersburg. In St. Petersburg they called on the Frank Hays, George Wirfs and Steve Schmitts and in Hialeah they visited the Eddy Adams family. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Purvey returned last week, from a month's trip to California where they visited in the home of Mr. Piirvey's brother, Frank Purvey, and wife in Golden, formerly of Woodstock. They also visited many places of interest while there. Enroute they called on Mr., and Mrs. Andrew Krull in Tucson, Ariz. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Miller and daughters returned, recently, from a trip to New York City where they visited Mrs. Miller's brother. • Mr. and Mrs. Art Smith enjoyed a five weeks vacation in St. Petersburg, Fla. Alfons Adams accompanied by Jack Perry and Robert Alderton of Lake Villa and Andrew Sundal of Grayslake attended a Wisconsin Archery convention at Lake Delta, Milwaukee, Wis., Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Wilde, Jr., have returned to their home in Country Club Estates, from a trip to Tucson, Ariz., where they visited the senior Wildes who are wintering there. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Wheelock, SOJ\ Geoffry, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wheelock spent a few days at Texarkana, Ark., where they were called by the death of Mrs. Edith Wheelock. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Noonan and Allan, Jr., have returned from a few weeks vacation in Florida. Miss Margie Freund, R.N., is enjoying a two weeks vacation from her duties at the McHenry hospital and accompanied by a former classmate at St. Joseph's school of nursing in South Bend, Ind., left Friday by jet for San Francisco where they will visit another classmate, Marge Bellvine, of Spring Valley, 111., who is employed there. Leonard Wood, Mo., for a weekend visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Blake. Mrs. David Powers returned Sunday from a few days visit in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leonard Burge, and family in Grayslake. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Amos of Sargent, Nebr., and Mrs. George Reichow of Chicago were weekend guests in the Robert Thompson home. After attending the annual convention of the Technical Association of the Pijlp and Paper industry in New York City, Patrick Krohn of Appleton, Wis., spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrg. Fred W. Krohn, of Waukegan road. During his stay, he helped his mother observed her birthday anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Yegge attended the testimonial dinner for George Sullivan, sponsored by the Peter Umathum Post of the American Legion, in Woodstock Saturday night. Mr. Sullivan, brother of Mrs. Yegge, was honored for his many years of service in the Legion both nationally and locally. Mr. and Mrs. George R. Fitzgerald, Ronald, Suzanne and Raymond of Mary Crest, Kankakee, were weekend guests in the home of Mrs. Ann Rodenkirch.
