Bridal Shower For Gail Johnson Miss Gail Johnson was guest of honor at a bridal shower given Friday evening, March 10, at the home of Mrs. Harry Hans, with Mrs. William Goettsche as co-hostess. The brlde-to-De walked on "stepping stones" which led tp her gifts, each stone representing a phase in her life. Refreshments were served froip a table decorated with a miniature bride doll and a color scheme of mint green and white, which will be used by the bridal party. Three cakes baked by the hostess were decorated with colonial bouquet corsages. They were given to Miss Johnson and the mothers of both the bride-to-be and grobaj.-to-be. A lunpheon included fingertip sandwiches which were decorated in hwnt1* gycewi,1" Guests included Miss Johnson's mother, Mrs. Donald Johnson; the groom's mother, Mrs.. Mmsgorn Infant Is Christened The little son of Mr. and Mrs. William B.-Nimsgern was christened William Bernard, Jr., by Rev. Eugene Baumhofer at St. Mary's Catholic church. Sponsors were Joseph Nimsgern, Jr., an uncle, and Marlene Erben of Chicago, a cousin. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Mangold, at Sunnyside. Surprised At Birthday Party A surprise birthday party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hilary Rodenkirch last Sunday honored their daughter, Sandra, on her sixteenth birthday a n n i v e r s a r y . S h e r e c e i v e d many beautiful gifts and cards on the occasion. Helping her to celebrate were her cousin, A. Shalton, and three friends of Chicago; also Rich Johnson, Bob Kelso, Doug Sellek, Jim Gorham, Dan Haager, Kathy Kostal, Pat Low, Nancy Lockwood, Rose Blatter and Colleen Mahoney. Pink - Blue Shower For Mrs. Betty Morris Mrs. Betty Morris of Richmond was guest of honor at a blessed event shower hostessed by Mrs. Albert Hosch on Sunday, March 12. Decorations were in pink and blue, and a cake with stork scene formed the centerpiece. Following the game session, a delicious luncheoh was served to the many guests who attended from Richmond, Solon Mills, Grayslake, Genoa City and Chicago. Betty was the recipient of many beautiful and useful gifts. With a 3.25 average the minimum requirement, 137 St. Thomas college students qualified for the dean's list during the fall semester. Included was Terrence J. Brady, an MCHS graduate, who is a sophomore in accouptipg. He. hatf a *'B" average. Vince Cina and David Fantus are listed on the first semester honor roll at Millikin university in Decatur. To be listed, it was necessary for them to maintain a 3.0 (B average) or better during the semester. Vince, a junior majoring in biology and chemistry, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Cina of Lakeland Park. David, a junior accounting major, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Fantus of Rt. 6, Mc- McHenry. Two students from McHenry are on the dean's list at Clarke College, Dubuque, Iowa. Ellen Clark, sophomore, graduated from St, Mary's in Woodstock, and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Clark. She is majoring in history. Lynne Buckle, daugiiter of Mrs. Mary K. Buckie, graduated from McHenry Community high school and is planning a Spanish major. Amwima Mr. and Mrs. Merle Freund are parents of a son born March 11 at Memorial hospital, Woodstock. PARENT EDUCATION GROUP CONDUCTS SURVEY IN AREA Initiate McHenry Girl In Sorority Audrey Albrecht, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert W. Albrecht of; McHenry, was initiated into the social sorority or Sigma Sigma Sigma recently at the University of Illinois. Audrey is a freshman majoring in fine and applied arts. At the present time, she is active in WPGU, the campus radio station, and the Block I Union committee. She was a 1960 graduate of McHenry Community High School. CARD OF THANKS I wish to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to all who sent flowers, cards and gifts, and to all who visited me during my recent illness at the Memorial Hospital of Woodstock. The questions asked of parents are as follows: 1 -- "Do you think a guide of conduct is necessary for our McHenry school children"? 2 -- Would you be in favor of a curfew law7 3 -- Do your children have a set bedtime? 4 -- Does your child have a set study time? 5 -- Are you familiar with your child's associates? 6 -- How many outside activitics are ^our children engaged in and do you feel this is too many or not enough? 7 -- Do you screen your children's television? 8 -- What do you feel is the logical age to start dating? 9 -- What age do you think makeup should be allowed? 10 -- Do you believe a certain amount of sex education should be given in the schools? After the results are tabulated, a meeting will be held to discuss further plans and studies. OFFER NURSE SCHOLARSHIP Applications for the student nurse scholarship awarded by the woman's auxiliary for the McHenry hospital may be obtained from the office of Clarence Anglese at the McHenryhigh school or from Miss Barbara Eggert at the hospital. Anyone who wishes to enter nurse's training in the fall may apply. The scholarship includes $100 each year for three years. The recipient is asked to work her first year as a graduate at the McHenry hospital. The scholarship will be awarded during the summer.
