Bake Sale The Women's Club has a bake sale planned for April 8 at Justen's Furniture store on the corner of Green street in MffiHenry. So Fishing Please The McCullom Lake Sportsman Club requests that you do not fish in McCullom Lake until after July. This will give enough time for the lake to become stocked with fish. There will be a fishing Rodeo the July 4 weekend and a prize will be awarded for the largest fish caught. Spring Dance » Our community spring dance Is scheduled for M^y 13 at 9 &#. at the American legion hall. The dance theme will be "•The Roaring Twenties". A 20's costume would be ideal, ^ut is not a requirement to attend. A Charleston dance contest will be held and a small floor show will be given. Tickets may be purchased from your block captains, the corner store, or at the door. There will be more news to come on tm event, although mark your calendar now, so you don't forget and make plans for that weekend. Welcome Party ~ Shower The welcome committee had a meeting at the community house on Wednesday to discus^, the next welcome party ~ of May •25, Thursday evening, at the community house at 8:30 p.W. Following the business, a baby shower honoring Vickey Bottari occurred when the group was joined by another group called the fiirthdav Club Marge Franklin, Connie Giacomo, Rita Zimny, Esther Cygan, Millie Pintozzi, Dorothy Becker and Dorothy Humphreys and a few members of the welcome .committee including Vickey. The welcome committee .consists of Jean Parisi, Fran Cina, Ruth Roach, Vickey Bottari, Louise McEnery, Jo P^rzo, Dolores Rogers, Helen Wandering Dogs It has been brought to our attention that quite a few dogs are let to roam. We would like to pass the word on to you, in hopes that you will take greater frmtion to keep your dog curbed, it seems, as soon as SpTing comes, the dogs like to get out and visit too, but this also can be a nuisance to your neighbors. So why not solve this problem now and keep your dog tied to a leash or fenced in. And .that dog catcher's number is Wonder Lake 2962, George Gutzman! Cub Scouts The Cub Scouts, Troop 361, held their March 16 meeting in the Methodist church basement. Bob Rode was presented with a denner badge and a silver arrow, Russell Rode was awarded an assistant denner badge, and Tom Messel went home with a gold and silver arrow. Dr. Bottari is Scout Master, Arlene Bartos and Donna Rode are Den Mothers for Lakeland Park. Little League Notice has been '<iven that the registration date is still open. There is room for a lot of boys yet and. the club would like to moke their quota this season and give every boy a chance to play. Applications may be received front the player agent, Mitchell Przetaznik, 107 Pleasant avenue. Any boy who has an application, but has not turned it in, please mail it as soon as possible, to the above adlress. Don't wait ti" the last minute. Any boy is eligible to play this season, if he becomes 8 years old on or before June 15: or if he does not become 13 until after August 1. A copy of a birth certificate must be presented with each application. The registration fee this , season will be three dollars. Insurance rates are higher this year, but the policy is better, with . greater coverage. The fee also pays ijn part for the player's cap, which is his personal property. Complete uniforms and all protective and playing equipment, outside of the player's glove, are to be furnished by the club. So let's get all the applications " and fees in soon. College * Experience Robert Bates, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bates of Victor Drive, was elected from his political science class to go to the Indiana University to represent two foreign countries in the little united nations meetings there March 10 through March 12. The Little,, U.N. is a miniature example of the U.N. in New York and is conducted like, the U.N. meetings. Robert is a sophomore at DeKalb College majoring in political science and eventually planning to go into law. the baby, Marty, age 10 months. We send Our get-well wishes to Bobby Kroening, age 9, who was admitted to the McHenry hospital Sunday for observation of an infection. He returned home Wednesday in very good condition. He is the son of Robert and Del Kroening. Happy Birthday To John Licastro on March 27, Dorothy Chismar ort M^rch 28, Dorothy Glorch on March 30, Debbie Koczor who will be three on April 1 and Happy Easter birthdays to Ann Leone and Charlene Meuller. Men's Kitchen Band There's still room for several more men to participate in the all men's "Kitchen Band". If you are interested and would like to take part in this band that is going to play in the minstrel show, you can contact Roy Meineke at EV. 5-2506. He is in charge of this act. Happy Anniversary To Jackie and John Ahrens of 307 Hill avenue who celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary of March 22. On March 20 the Eugene Ahrens of 306 Eastern avenue, John's folks, entertained with a dinner at their home in observance of this happy occasion. Jackie and John were guests of honor, others were Mrs. Rose Bockman, an aunt of John, and Mrs. Meta Oilier, John's grandmother. Get-Well Wishes To three and a half year old John Hendle who is at home now recovering from double surgery. He had surgery at the McHenry hospital on Monday, March 13. Gen Smith was very surprised Tuesday, March 22, when some of her neighbors, Alma Brushaber, Juanita Harris and Brenda McGue, dropped in to wish her a belated happy birthday. This attractive couple met at a dance and have been dancing every since. Frank spent his service time with the Marines and was stationed in China. He now is a buyer with a new company in Barrington. Both Mr. and Mrs. enjoy gardening ana belong to the group known is the Squares (dancing). Arlene belongs to the Women's club, and St. Patrick's Mother's club. Frank is a member of the American Legion. Mark is a Cub Scout member, If we continue to save at our present rate, we'll be able to retire in 2028.
