Ifrursday, April 13. 1961 THE McHENHY PLA3NDEALER Page S«renle«i holiday Hills WW OFFICERS COHDUCT FIRST IA MEETING 'illy Residents Hear Plans For Work On Roads Rita Oleyar - About fifty people crowded into the basement of the Malstrom home Wednesday night, April 5, to attend the first H^LP.O.A. meeting under the lea^rship of the newly in-, stalled officers and board. President Harry Postal reported that the roads in the subdivision will receive some gravel and be graded within a few weeks. The association agreed to share in the cost of this work. All work on the roads yvill be supervised by the association. Representatives Elected Dick Malstrom and Say. Baird were elected by the' membership present to represent the subdivision at the- April 16 planning meeting of, the Nunda Township Civic League. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at 2 o'clock in the Bay View Beach Community House. Committee Appointed ! An investigating committee of volunteers was appointed by the president to confer with another subdivision concerning the spraying of the lake in order to improve the fishing.'• It was felt that more information is needed before we can give our approval to the program. Those who volunteered sr% Wayne Malzahn, Bill Scnmidt, Rich Wyczesany and Jack White. Storm Damage Lifted shingles weren't the only casualties of the storm which hit the area several weeks ago. An oak tree was split and felled in the Jeschke back yard, and provided the family with some unexpected wood for their fireplace. Neighborly Notes Charles and Alice Forthman and children spent the Faster holidays with relatives in Redbtid, 111. Frank and Barbara Csuti have named their new baby Barbara Lorraine, after her m g | h e r a r i d g o o d f r i e n d a n d neighbor Lorraine Bemis. On the Injured List Bruce Potratz suffered a bad Just below his ankle wfiilie playing a game of "daggers" with a friend. The boys had sharpened sticks and were throwing them into the ground when one of them missed the target and hit Bruce's foot^ It was badly discolored and re quired several trips to the hospital to repair. ^fcail Young's leg is in a cast from thigh to ankle because of a knee injury while in a high school gym class. The cartilage was torn and will require some time to heal properly. No more dancing classes for awhile, Gail. The Youngs' pet dog, Laddie, was also in the hospital. He was treated for an allergy. In the Hospital 'Veddy Oszgandy underwent surgery at the Harvard hospital for correction of a hernia. At last reports he was doing fine. Loretta EJcline is recuperating at home after abdominal surgery at the McHenry hospital. Loretta is feeling better than she has in months. New Family Welcomed This week we would like to welcome the Jehde family who live in the farmhouse on the Griswold Lake blacktop. Lawrence and Renee Jende have four children, three sons and a baby daughter. They are Scott, who is 10 and in the fifth grade; Frederick, who is 7 and in the first grade. The pre-schoolers are Mark, 3, and Leslie, seven months. The Jendes formerly lived in Lake Villa and moved into Holiday Hills at the beginning of this year. Lawrence comes from Wisconsin and Renee from Michigan. Renee's interests include church work, the Woman's club and Cub scouting. She has three years of den mothering ib her credit. Lawrence is an avid gradener and raises his own tomato and cucumber plants from seed^ STATE TAKES ACTION AGAINST COUNTY DRIVERS The state has announced the revocation of the driver licenses of Gleason Gilmore of Harvard and Ronald M. Smith of Crystal Lake for three violations; also that of A. H. Rovard of McHenry for driving while intoxicated. The licenses of three, have been suspended, Bernabe Bonitz and Peter Morris of Crys tal Lake for three violations and LeRoy Hayner of McHenry for causing or contributing to an accident resulting in death or injury. Probationary permits have been issued to James Huemann of McHenry, Kenneth Nelson of Cary and James Wood oi Woodstock. CLUB .WINS RECOGNITION For its contribution of a minimum of $20 per member to the Rotary Foundation, Mc- Henry's Rotary club has been designated A "200 per cent Rotary Foundation club", it was announced at the world headquarters in Evanston this past week. Youth is often melancholy in outlook, while old age is generally cheerful. FRIENDS Mrs. Charles Freund Flaming Arrow Troop 128 did a series of skits for their parents and a group of friends at St. Peter's parish hall on Thursday night. Under the direction of Mrs. Paul Kabot, they presented "Doctor Yell 'n Cuss", "Tlie Viper", Nothing Like a Dame," "O By Jingo", "Blue Beard" and a "Fashion Show". The skits were filled with satire and humor and were received by the audience with great hilarity. They were enjoyed so much that the boys have been asked to put on another performance some time in the near future. The Fleming Arrow troop consists of John Kabot, leader; Leonard Wrubleski, assistant leader; Eddie Lilian secretary; Paul Wrubleski, treasurer; Mike Westphal, quartermaster; Greg Todey, Mark Stribling and Leonard Lilla. Recent Visits Students who were home fot the holidays, Jim Kagan from Queen of Apostles, seminary, Madison, Wis.; Frank Tinney from Salvatorian seminary, St. Nazianz, Wis.; June Miller and Jeanette Busch from Northern Illinois university, D e K a 1 b. Home on furlough is Richard Monhardt from Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Brother Gale of Paschal Friary, Westmont, 111., visited his parents, the Frank Tinneys. Guests The Jim Browns of Gary, Ind., visited Mr. and Mrs. John McGovern last weekend. Dinner guests recently in the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Thornton: were the Charles Gerbig ffimily and Mrs. Shirley Dawson. j * Minnesota Trip l>r. ami Mrs. L. L. Kagan, sons, David and. Michael, spent last weekend in St. Paul. They visited their son, Leigh, who is studying for the priesthood at St. Paul seminary. Postmasters Meet Mrs. Eva Freund was hostess to the McHenry County Postmasters at their regular dinner meeting on Wednesday evening. Guests were Postal Inspector E. E. Black and Harry W. King, president of the National Association of Postmasters in McHenry county. Clubs Meet Members of her club met at the home of Mrs. Frank May on Thursday afternoon. Prizes went to Mts. Math Nimsgern, Mrs. Frank Sanders, Mrs. Ben May, Mrs. Frank May and Mrs. Peter May. A lunchf was served by the hostess after cards. Members of the Holy Name society held their regular meeting at St. Peter's hall on Wednesday evening. Following the meeting were cards and lunch. Dance at Town Hall Those who attended the square dance sponsored by the PTA of Spring Grove school on Friday night report enjoying the evening very much. Bud Rowden of Lake county was "caller" and he brought with him the "Wood Shed Twirlers" who put on a performance ol special square dance steps. Refreshments were also served. Reminder " A board meeting of the McH e n r y D e a n e r y D i o c e s a n Council f of Catholic Women will be-held at St. Mary's hall in McHenry on April 14. Committee chairmen and presidents of auxiliaries are urged to attend. Trip to Capitol Mr. and Mrs. Walter Murphy enjoyed a trip to Washington, D. C, the past week.
