The Warrior baseball team beat Elgin 12 to 9 in a goahead, come-from-behind contest. We enjoyed a real sociable evening with the Forester bowlers at Chapel Hill Country Club Sunday night. After a delicious roast beef dinner, trophies were presented to members of the winning teams in both the girls and boys leagues. They were, in the girls league, the Boppers, comprised of Sharon Stoller, Kathy Thelen, Diane Diedrich, Kathy Aylward and Leigh Perry. Winners in the boys league, the Eight Balls, were made up of Bill Houser, Steve Kleinhans, Terry Margraff, A1 Miller, and Mike Dillon. Other awards given at the banquet include high series trophy for the girls league to Karen McNally, with a 524 series, and in the boys league to Dick Jelinek, winner of the special high game trophy presented by Mr. Arthur Stuhlfeier, with a 233 game, and the high series trophy to Dick Friedberg with a 594 series. 500 club emblems, for a series of 500 or better during the tournament, were presented to Karen McNally, Rick Justen, Terry Oeffling, Jim Tonyan, Bill Funk, Dick Friedberg, Mike Njska, and. Dick Jelinek. A special "Bowler of the Year" certificate was given to Debbie Varese for the greatest improvement of bowling average throughout the tournament. At the gathering, league members will elect officers, set plans for play this year,. and discuss extra-curricular activities such as their year-end banquet. Golfers interested in joining the league this year are invited to attend the meeting. Last year, 50 players participated in a tightly-fought battle down to the wire which ended in a three-way tie at season's end. The Victor Ford team was victorious in a play-off round. Teams headed by A1 Thelen and George Gulbrandson took second and third, respectively.
