April I began to have my doubts. Hardly anyone in the subdivision made it to work Monday morning and cars were stuck in snowdrifts all over the place. Alice and Ray Bieschke found their good Samaritans on route 59. Sunday morning they, along with their daughter, Tamni^ Alices's mother, Mrs l^Hfry Dietrich, and brother, KShneth, went to visit another sifter, Dot Ungare and husband, George. They were to take his sister. Lil, to Union station for departure to Los Angeles at 6 p.m. This they did--so far so good. Returning home they became stuck in the snow at Irving Park and route 53 and spent the night in a gas station arriving home Monday morning at 7:15. They moved to Sunny side Es-, tates in March, 1957. Gus aud Wanda both work and Gus is an instructial iron worker. Wanda is an avid card player and enjoys growing f lowers. Gus's hobby is fishing and he likes to read. Seventeen year old Mary Ann is a senior in McHenry high school and expects to enroll for a modeling course in the fall. Eighteen' year old Wally enlisted in the Navy in January, 1960, and has nearly t\Vo years more years of service'. Fifteen year old Paul is attending Northwestern business college. Mrs. Kogut stays at home, spoils her grandchildren and takes cr.re of her breed. the building fund drive, you may expect someone within the next month at your door. Gad-abouters Mr. and Mrs. Schwieger went to Chicago, Thursday, April 20, to help their granddaughter, Donna, celebrate her sixteenth birthday on Saturday. They visited with Donna, sister Verna and mother L o r a i n e Schwieger until late Saturday when they went to Granite City, 111. They will spend some time there with their daugther and son-in-law, Chrystal and Ed Stach, and grandchildren, Patti and Bob. Shower Betty Lakowske attended a bridal shower for Bob's cousin, Joan' Jaszkowski, in Chicago, Wednesday, April 19. A dinner fur all the guests preceded the opening of the many lovely gifts. - Johnsburg Rescue Squad The Johnsburg Rescue Squad is pleased to announce that the building is complete other than a few minor details. This was made possible through your donations and the fine way in which you are honoring your pledges. EV 0-0444 Scout. News The eagerly awaited father and daughter banquet of Girl Scout Troop 295 of Johnsburg and eight other troops of surrounding areas was held Wednesday evening, April 19. Troop 295 sang a grace. A delicious roast beef- dinner was served to the girls and their dads. The girls of each troop was ^sponsible for the decorations of their table. They entertained their dads with skits, songs and dances and the fathers were surprised at the versatility of their daughters. Leader Marge Barth was entertainment chairman for the dinner. Brownie Troop 150 held their meeting last Thursday arc! 'practiced the Investiture to be held April 27. The %irls are nearly finished with their carryall bags. There was a uniform inspection by leader Alice Bieschke and the girls were graded on the point system. They are planning for their future day -camp. Any adult interested in being a unit leader for the day camp please contact Alice Bieschke at EV. 5-6166 or Marge Barth at EV. 5-1619. Cookie hostess for this meeting was Mary Jane Lakowske. Boy Scout Troop 144 had its camp-out at Martel's farm, one mile south of McHenry, Saturday night of the blizzard. The boys stuck it out in their tents during the storm. Before the weather got too bad the boys worked on their advancement of rank, played flash taj and fox in the box (what ever that is.) They had a camp fire and sang songs. Sunday morning eveiything was too wet to fi> breakfast so the boys arrived home at 7:15 a very hungry group of lads. TkuBlhy« April 27, Wi this ordeal by her many friends and neighbors. N Frank Mann is hospitalized in Condell Memorial hospital after an automobile accident. Loretta Mikkelsen fell down the basement stairs and wound up with bruises, scratches and cuts. She is on her feet again we are glad to report. Stck List At this writing Stan Smolinski is still hospitalized but expects to come home shortly. No anniversaries to celebrate this week. Spring -Grove- PLAN LUNCHEON. CARD PARTY AT ST. PETERS MAY 2 •i Mrs. Charles Freund APPEARS WITH BAND John F. Sirtak, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Sirtak, Sr., Route 1, Wonder Lake, was selected as a member of the Carthage college concert band, under the direction of Merrill Brown. Sirtak, who plays in the saxophone section of the band, is a junior at the college apd majoring in business. Th^ college band presented concerts in several Illinois high schools during the band's spring tour. Committee members of the Christian Mothers sodality with Mrs. Robert A more and Mrs. Willard Bychowski as chairmen are making arrangements to hold a card party and luncheon at St. Peter's hall on Tuesday afternoon, May 2. Serving will begin at noon. The menu will consist of baked ham, escailloped potatoes, salad and dessert. Games of cards and bunco will be offered in the afternoon and many prizes will be given away. Come and enjoy a pleasant afternoon with old and new friends. , Election Held Christian Mothers sodality of St. Peter's held their election of officers at the parish hall on Thursday night. Newly elected officers who will be installed in May are Mrs. Willardi Bychowski as president > and Mrs. Leo Pam as recording secretary. A meeting was held at which time plans for the annual school picnic were discussed. .Benediction in church will precede the May meeting at which time new members will be enrolled. A" pot-luck supper will be served. Following the meeting a lunch was served and cards were played. Return from South Wade Sanborn and. Lillian Sanborn returned this week to their homes here. They spent the winter months in Crystal River, Fla. While enroute they stopped off in Indiana to visit the Johonotts. It's A Girl f Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth T.arson are the happy parents of a daughter, weighing 6 lbs., 4 o2s., born at Memorial hospital Woodstock on Friday/ April 21. She has a little brother, Denny, to welcome her home. their daughter, Mary Lou, at St. Mary's convent in Milwaukee. On Sunday, April 23, they visited Jim at Queen of Apostles seminary in Madison, also attended the spring festival held at the seminary. Club Meets Mrs. William Engels was hostess to the members of her club on Thursday afternoon. Games of five hundred were played and prizes went to Mi's. Math Nimsgern, Mrs. Frank May, Mrs. John Smith, Mrs. Frank Sanders and Mrs. Clara Deinlein. A lunch was served after cards.
