We are promising ourself fend everybody else to get at ' this column earlier next week. ::A promise made is a debt unpaid and the press has its own stern code. Our problem is a code in the head. We have been searching for a slip that wasn't showing. Here it is and the memo says Biliie Mackinder bowled a 224 £ame in a 549 series. These girls are crowding the men. ' We can't, quite piake out this name, but think it is George M. VWrigley" Freund. And he (bowled a 652 series that fear tured a 255 game. Hear tell that our hero and Herb Reihansperger have signed as roving coaches for the Cubs. Better stick to bowling, Junior! In county league baseball, the schedule calls for Richmond at Crystal Lake, Elgin at Johnsburg, Dundee at Harvard. McHenry has an open date and will play the Holland lnklers here. Most important is the use you intend to make of the boat. This should be your prime consideration. If you intend to use it for a combination of activities, you should consider the suitability of the boat for all these uses. If you intend to haul water skis, picnic baskets, coolers or fishing equipment, you will probably want a boat with an open cockpit and a fairly broad beam. Or you may simply want a boat which will give you riding comfort and will be especially pleasing to the eye. After you have selected your boat, choose a "matched" outboard motor, again preferably with the help of a reputable dealer. Though not a rule of thumb, engineers recommend motors up to 10 horse-power to push conventional open fishing boats without covered decks. The 18 horsepower motor is a versatile fishing, cruising ^and water skiing motor on runabouts up to 14 feet. Some of these runabouts are rated for engines of up to 40 horsepower, while the larger boats can usually handle motors "up to the highest horsepower available. If you go into the big boat class some large cruisers are sometig? es bfttgr powe/edr>b^ engines of smaller horsepower than one large horsepower engine. To complete your rig, you should choose a trailer that properly supports your boat. Happy Boating. These runs were scored on a double and three singles. McHenry fought back with two runs on a single, a walk, two errors, and a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. When Palatine went scoreless from the third to the sixth, McHenry got another run in the sixth to tie it up at 3-3. The crucial inning followed. McHenry had a chance in their half of the seventh to go ahead, but failed to do so. After one out, there were two straight singles, but the next two batters grounded out and popped up respectively. With one out in their half of the inning, Palatine got two men on base on a single and a walk. Just before the walk, the runner on first attempted to steal second and was safe on a very close play. The batter following the walk hit a pop fly that was just out of the reach of Harry May and was fair by about two feet. This brought in the winning run and the final score was 4-3. As both pitchers went the route, Morenz got his first loss in four starts and Seidel the win. McHenry came back to take the second by a score of 5-2 on five hit pitching by Bill DeCicco. McHenry scored all their runs in the third on five hits, two walks* and an error. The new officers filled their offices. We were to have a work day the following Sunday, but Mother Nature decided differently. At the April 19 meeting they voted in a club run to the Illiana Lucky Wheels M. C. eighth annual festival and dance at Hammond, Indiana. This run was held April 22 and we came home with a trophy awarded to the club that traveled the farthest distance. Sunday, the twenty-third, some of the members made a club run to The Hurry Cane Riders' egg hunt at Algonquin. Eugene Raven took third place in 'B" class heavy competition. We tried for the largest club trophy but were beaten by The Prairie State Riders. Come on, bike riders, why not join the club so we can bring home more trophies on club runs. Seems like our old riders are getting tired so let's see some new faces. the third and fourth innings but could not do it. Palatine used two pitchers with Kowles eventually getting the loss. McHenry is now four and two for the conference. The game was Bill DeCicco's first win of the season.
