"SHESELLS SEA SHELLS'* ON TWO FLORIDA ISLANDS by Marie Schaettgen "She sells seashells by the seashore". Remember that one? Well, I think I've learned of the place where "she" sold them. Off the shores of Ft. Myers, Fla., there are two islands, Sanibel and Captive. According to a recent article in a Florida newspaper, vacationers who like to "get away from it all" hie themselves to these islands which were once a tomato- growing area. Sanibel is now a haven for those who love to gather beautiful shells. Collectors rate these islands tops in the U.S. as a happy hunting ground for shells of rare quality, which include such gems as Angels' Wings, Jewel Box and Lemon Pectin. Collectors find shells by walking through shallow water and feeling with their feet or by looking through g l a s s - b o t t o m e d c o n t a i n e r a . Since it is only 3 miles to the islands the trip is; made by auto-ferry within a few minutes.
