Erwin of Utica, Mich,, an-, riounce the engagement of their daughter, Susan Eda, to John Richard Sternickle, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Sternickle of 1605 West Boiling avenue, Mc- Henry. , Mr. Sternickle is a graduate of Northwestern university and is affiliated with Triangle fraternity. Miss Erwin attended Northwestern and is affiliated with Kappa Delta. Wedding plans are being made for £>ept. 2. Friendship Guild Hostess To Aid The Friendship guild ladies of Zion Lutheran church were hostesses to members of the Ladies Aid last Tuesday evening. A delicious buffet ham dinner, with all of the trimmings, was served in the basement of the church. Tables, were decorated in spring colors. The very enjoyable evening was concluded with a community- sing. Nancy Wohlert Guest At Shower Miss Nancy Wohlert was guest of honor at a surprise bridal shower held Friday, May 12, given by school friends. She will become the bride of Donald Fout of Spring Grove on July 29. Following a two-week trip to Colorado, the couple will reside in Richmond. Miss Laverne Meyer and Miss Joan Meyer, sisters of the bride, and Mrs. Verna Schmitt attended the bride, while little Cynthia Mayfield was flower girl. Dennis Schmitt was best man and groomsmen were Alan Meyer of Rockford and Dick Christiansen of Wisconsin. The couple will reside in Richmond. Honor Retiring: Teacher At Party Miss Mary Kinney, who is retiring from the teaching pr«. fession, was guest of honor at a gathering at the home of Miss Genevieve Knox last Thursday evening, with former co-workers at what is now Landmark school as guests. A chicken dinner was served from a table centered with a lovely floral piece, after which cards and reminiscing were enjoyed and the guest of honor presented with a beautiful gift. Guests in addition to those already mentioned included Eleanor Foley, Carolyn Bauer, Nellie Doherty, Arlene Peaison, Mildred Reese, Lenore Cooley, Joanne Rulien, Mary Vycital, Laura Ferwerda and Jennie Mae Richardson. Rev. Fr. Cletus Anger officiated at the double ring ceremony. The pretty, dark-haired bride was radiant in a white satjn, princess style dress, styled with long sleeves, scoop neckline trimmed in lace and jewels and the sariia. trimftiing repeated along the nip line. The dre'SS featured a- bustle back and' chapel train. She wore an aurora borealis crown, to which was attached a short veil, and carried a colonial bouquet of stephanotis and white carnations. Attending the bride were Patricia Frisby, sister of the bride, as maid 0$ honor, Mrs. Sharon Wohlert, Charlene Freund and Joan Olson, sister of the groom, as bridesmaids. All were attired similarly in gowns of silk organza over taffeta, floor length, styled with scoop necklines and bustle backs. Four cabbage roses trimmed the back of the skirts. They had matching picture hats, open crown, of net and lace, and carried white baskets of pink, white and yellow button mums. Miss Frisby was in pink, Mrs. Wohlert in green. Miss Freund in blue and Miss Olson in yellow. The flower girl was little Donna Jean Frisby, six-yearold sister of the bride, who wore a white organza dress with pink sash. Bob Hettermann served as best man and groomsmen were John Hogan of Ringwood, Dick Olson, Jr., of Island Lake and Marvin Olson of Mineral Springs, brothers of the groom. Mrs. Fristiy selected a light blue sheath dress with lace bodice, matching hat and white orchid corsage. Mrs. Olson Vvore a dress featuring a white background and pink and green Embroidery, with which she had a pink flowered hat and white Orchid corsage. Breakfast was served to thirty at the Johnsburg Community club at noon, and after 5 o'clock in the evening, 325 friends and relatives gathered there for an evening reception. Breakfast followed the ceremony for thirty-five guests at the Wing 'n Fin club. Later, 200 friends and relatives gathered at Club Lilymoor for an evening reception. Following a wedding trip, the couple will reside in Mineral Springs. Both young people are graduates of McHenry high school.
