MEET +HE MeHENHT PtAINDEALEli Alice McKelly - EV. 5-2661 The monthly meeting of the McHenry Shores club scheduledjripr Thursday, June first, at tne VFW hall is the last regularly scheduled meeting for the season. Meetings are not on schedule for July and August. All members are urged to attend the June assembly and bring along their guests and any prospective members they may round up and make it a gala affair. On the agenda for the meet is the presentation to the Jiub by the president of the readies Auxiliary of the VFW, Mrs. Florence Svoboda, of an American flag. The' ceremony will include the appearance of the VFW color guard under the command of Matthew Oik. Little League Players Craig Barrows and Robert Ruemelin were accepted in the McHenry Little League of Baseball with the Minors. Craig will play with the Orioles and Bob with the Cardinals. Coafirmatioa Cathy Barrows was confirmed on Sunday at the eleven a.m. service in the Community Methodist church. ., Social Event A .group of twenty ladies from McHenry Shores attended the McHenry Women's club spring luncheon held at the Chapel Hill Country Club on May 12. Lillian Brodahl Smith, Chicago humorist, presented "Yust for Fun" and it was fun. After the program and luncheon, new officers and directors were installed for the coming year. Daisy Smith and Ellen Duncan were nominated and installed as directors. Progressive Dinner About twenty couples including the Schopp and Winters families enjoyed a progressive Hawaiian luau dinner given by members of the Community Methodist church. Ill Neighbor Tom and Pat Burke, as they are affectionately known to their friends, came to McHenry Shores from Oak Lawn in August, 1959. They live at 3209 West Beach drive which . is about the center of the community. This energetic couple can be found in the middle of most of the community activities. Tom is an army veteran and has been a state trooper for several years. Now and then the troopers take to the air and Tom is one of those who are qualified pilots and ready to fly when duty calls. He received his schooling in Blue Inland, a suburb of Chicago. Incline with his profession, lie is^a member of the Illinois Police Association and locally he belongs to both the MSC and the SSAC. Pat was a Chicagoan too and attended Calumet high school there. Her big job now is raising two young ladies and a young man. Kathleen who was ten in March attends St. Mary s school in McHenry. This young lady is a student of the dance and is a member of the choir at St. **sry s. Dsbb«o is six and is in line for school next fall at St. Mary's. Jimmie will be four in December. Our happy neighbors find relaxation and fun in golfing and dancing. Good luck -- neighbors. Sick list Eleanor Ruemelin is seriously ill and is confined in McHenry hospital. In Closing After weekends of unfavorable weather, a nice weekend arrived and Fred Dodge was able to launch that new boat. Bill Pinkonsly almost lost his car while launching his boat and had to call for help to rescue it. Good neighbors helped to retrieve his car. .COMING SOON! Auxiliary Meeting The Sunnyside Ea^clies auxiliary is having its next regular meeting May 26, at Julia Seibert's house, at 8 o'clock, and the address is 1605 Lakeview avenue. Wedding Bells Congratulations to the new bride of Sunnyside, who lived in the old homestead on Spring Creek road and was the former Carol Ann Frisby, and is now Mrs. Charles Olson. She had a beautiful wedding ceremony, which took place in St. John the Baptist church in Johnsburg at 11 o'clock on May 13. The couple left for their wedding trip to Washington, D. C., and upon their return will reside in Hunterville Park. More Wedding Bells On Saturday, May -13, Roselie Lindeh, formerly of Sunnyside became the bride of Robert Smith of Johnsburg. She was an attractive bride dressed in a gown made bj^her mother The wedding ceremony--took place in St. Mary's Catholic church at 11:30 o'clock with Rev. Fr.. Harold Nilges officiating. The evening reception was held at Club Liiymoor. Sunnyside was well represented by the following people; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Harrington, Sr.Jiir. and Mrs. Walter Casey, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Adams, Mr. and Mrs. George Seibert, Mrs. Carmella Sanborn and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred May.. We all had an enjoyable evening, as the dinner was delicious, plenty to drink, and good dancing. Proud Grandparents Irma and Bill Gunther became proud grandparents Tuesday, May 16, as their son, Bill, and his wife were blessed with a pink bundle of joy. The Gunthers will take a trip to Melrose Park this weekend to see the new baby. News from Seminary The Gunthers are in the news again as Dorothy, Charlie and Irma went to see Fred in the Seminary on Mother's Day. They were very proud, because he received a certificate fcr a Latin test. The school was awarded four trophies out of five. The Glee Club put on a concert for the mothers; which was -most impressive. Fred will be coming home May 30 to spend his summer vacatiori.& Mr. and Mrs. Paul Colomer also were out that Sunday to see their son. PISTAKEE TERRACE NEWS Apology Somehow a whole page of my news was missing in my column, and I would ilke to apologize for it. One of the doings was.a Communion party held for Peiter Hemkendreis, who was so happy to have his uncle here from Germany. He is Gerd Hamshmidt (Katy's brother) and he will sjtay here for six weeks. Dance Results I am proud to report for the dance committee that the affair was a big success. There was a nice big tum'Hit and everyone had a gay time. Many people helped and gave donations. The latter boy is Staff Sergeant in the U. S. 'Air Force and is coming home in »" me, when they will get together and celebrate their birthdays. Charles Freund "Wonderland by Night" was the theme chosen by the Junior class of Richmond-Burton high school for their prom on Saturday night. May 13, held at the high school auditorium. Preceding the dance the students and their guests enjoyed a dinner in Antioch. Dancing began at nine. The honor of being "Prom Queen" was bestowed on Miss Gerry Sheets, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John' Sheets of Spring Grove. Keith Steinke was chosen as king. Candidates for queen were Gerry Sheets, Rita Davis and Joyce Erb and the king candidates were Keith Steinke, Ken May, Tom Lindblom and Dave Gardner. Installation of Officers New officers installed at the meeting of the Christian Mothers Modality at St. Peter's parish hall on Thursday night were Mrs. Willard Bychowski as president and Mrs. Leo Dam as recording secretary. Retiring officers were Mrs. Arthur Kattner and Mrs. Roy Borre. Services were held in church before the meeting at which time eight new members were enrolled. A .pot-luck supper was served. Entertainment was furnished by the Boy Scouts who presented several skits in comedy and impressions also a fashion/ show which was hilarious. All ladies present enjoyed this^show very much and wish to thank the boys for their Wonderful performances. Ushers Meet The ushers of St. Peter's held their regular monthly meeting at the heme of Norman Schneider on Wednesday night. Following the meeting there was cards and a lunch was served. Birthday , Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hofmann entertainedin their home on Sunday, May 14, to honor the birthday of their daughter, Dorothy, who was two years old on that day. Guests were Mrs. Anne Rudolph of Silver Lake, Wis. and the Harry Johr son family of Winthrop Harbor. A lunch was served which included a large birthday cake. Club Meets Mrs. Ben May was hostess to the members of her club on Thursday afternoon. Games of five hundred were played and prize winners were Mrs. Josephine May, Mrs. Annie Sanders, Mrs. Mary Nimsgern, Mrs. Tillie May and Mrs. Clara Deinlein. A delicious lunch was served afterwards. Birth Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gaylord are the happy parents of a 7 lb., 1 oz., daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Charles May are the maternal grandparents and proudly announced that this is their sixteenth grandchild.
