GIRL SCOUTS Throughout America, Memorial Day has been a special day for parades, set aside in 1868 by General John A. Logan, to honor men of the United States armed services who gave their lives for their country. The thrill and pride of marching in a big parade is an experience Brownies and Girl Scouts will always remember as a "big moment" in their lives. The troops of Valley View neighborhood, which includes the McHenry area, plan to be a part of this year's parade on Memorial Day ,at 9:30 a.m. in McHenry. Each troop hopes to have a good representation in complete Uniform to march along with the other organizations participating. All marchers are asked to assemble in front of the high school at 9a.m. By way of a final reminder, Girl Scouts and Brownies have only until June 1 to register for day camp, which will be held the week of July 10. Registration must be accompanied by the three dollar fee and sent^ to Mrs. A. J. Wirtz, 3611 W. Maple, McHenry. Don't let your Scout miss a Week of outdoor fun because you were a few days late with her registration. Brownie Troop 190 Brownie Troop 190 of McHenry had an exciting time Sunday, May 21, when they attended the performance of "The Wizard of Oz" at the Goodman theatre in Chicago. They had an added thrill after the play when the performers autographed the programs of the Brownies. To conclude a wonderful afternoon, they visited the Buckingham fountain, which had been turned on the day before, and appreciated the artistic display of water. Brownies attending were Corrine Wilhelm, Karyl Koepke, Jean. Lingenfelter, Linda Worts, Kathy Tessendorf, Barbara Vilim, Vicki Varese, Debra Mackinder, Debra Walter, Sharon Adams, Jessica Nell, Cheryl Ziszik, Karla Freund, Judith Homo and guests, Candy Freres, Kim Freres, Suzy Blenner and Suzanne Koepke. Mrs. Robert Freres helped transport the Brownies to Chicago. HEBE AND THERE IN BUSINESS JOINS SALES CLUB C.
