Mrs. FTM Hoffman, formerly of 'Woodstock, but now of Belvidere, will be hostess at the August meeting. Mrs. Thomas Horan of Chicago, formerly of Wonder Lake, c a l l e d on f r i e n d s here Thursday. Mrs. Elizabeth Kaddatz of Genoa City, Wis., visited old friends here a few days last Lr. and Mrs. Carl Neuman and children and Mrs. Anna Miller were recent visitors in the George Bell juid John Kolway homes in Burlington, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hayes and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gust$fson of Chicago visited in the home of Mrs. Edith Hayes and attended McHenry County Night festivities at the city pipe Wednesday. Mrs. Margaret Rasmussen of Chicago was a guest of Miss Genevieve Knox, last week, and enjoyed the Centennial week doings. Mr. and Mrs. Earl McAndretys have returned from a visit with relatives in Minneapolis, Minn. They were accompanied there by Miss Mary Kidney who remained for a kl»£ stay. ^rs. Elizabeth Walsh and Mrs. Edith Hayes visited in the Frlink Riley home in Twin Lakes Wednesday. Mrs. William Morgan, Jeanne fland Joey, of Elkhorn, Wis., spejint a few days last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Miller. While here, in company with Mrs. Mora's mother, Mrs. Miller, they wed in the home of Mrs. Clarice Purvey, in Crystal Lake, and helped her celebrate her Birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brefeld and children of Fort Worth, Texas, visited relatives here the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Patzke of Elgin were weekend guests of McHenry relatives. f§!r. and Mrs. Don Kelly and children of Janesville, Wis., were guests of Mrs. Eleanor Foley Sunday. Mrs. Velma Douglas spent a few days last week in the Dr. jdBfeph Miranti home in Greenup, IU. The Miranti family is moving to Carbondale where he will be assiciated witfy S o u t h e r n I l l i n o i s U n i v e r s i t y . On Monday Mrs. Douglas was called to Dodgeville, Wis., by tfye death of a brother, Fred Thomas, who had been in poor health for some time. . Mrs. Carolyn McLean of Chicago spent the weekend in the Thome-Renard home. Out of town folks who attended a gathering at the Maurice Foley home Sunday included Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Wade, Sr.; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Wade, Jr., and baby, of Crystal Lake, and Mr. and Me?. James Mahoney, son, J. J. and lady friend, of Chicago. Mr. and' Mrs. Howard Collins returned Sunday, from a trip to Colorado where they visited their daughter, Joan, who is employed at C e n t r a l C i t y , there, for the summer. They also visited Denver, Colorado Springs and many other places of interest while there. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Blanner. Valerie and Torie and Donald Blanner of Rockford were recent visitors in the^Robert Conway home. Mr. and Mrs. Emory Herdklptz of Rockford called on old friends in McHenry Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Young of Waukegan were weekend guests of McHenry relatives. Mrs. Robert Kelley and son, Bobby, of Chicago, spent the past two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe May, while Mr. Kelley was serving with the reserves at Camp Ripley, Minn. Mrs. Edward J. Buss of Burlington, Wis., was a weekend visitor in McHenry. Miss Margaret Hall and Bill Krus of Chicago were visitors in the A. P. Moritz home Saturday. Sunday guests were Mr. and Mrs. Tim Sullivan of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Carlson, son,' Kenny; Mr. and Mrs. George Carlson; Mr. and Mrs. Lage Carlson, daughter, Beverly; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Carlson and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Anderson of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hefferman, Westchester; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Riedl and sons, Ncrthbrook; Mr. and Mrs. Bud Howard and Mrs. Judy Nelson, of LaGrange were the out of town folks here to attend a gathering at the Elmer Antonson home Sunday. The get-together honored August Landerholm of Sweden, who is visiting his sister, Mrs. Edla Antonson, on his seventy-fifth birthday. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Muska, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Winkel, Mrs. Elizabeth Michels and the Carl and Elmer Antonson families. Mr. and Mrs. John May of Waukegan were McHenry visi- Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ritter and daugrters, Nancy and Jerrilynne, of Chicago, visited in the home of her sister, Mrs. Madeleine Schroeder, Sunday. Miss Mary Ann Mayfield returned home with them for a visit. Mrs. Josephine Schlau of Columbus, Ohio, has been visiting relatives here. She was accompanied home, Sunday, by Mrs. Kathryn W e i n g a r t and the Donald Weingart family. Mr. and Mrs. George Hafner were called here from Cleveland, Ohio, Thursday, by the critical illness of his mother, Mrs. taargaret Hafner, a patient at St. Therese hospital, Waukegan. Mr. and Mrs. John R. Freund and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Blake have returned from a vacation at Mackinaw City, Mackinac I si a n d, Sault-Stc-* Marie and the upper peninsula. On their return trip they spent sometime in the Frank May home in Chetak, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Blake, their daughter, Sister Charles Marie, of Kankakee, Mrs. Ben Jung; Mrs. Arnold May and Peter Blake visited the latter's sisters. Sister Ildefons, Sister Arcadia and Sister Jeremia at Campbellsport, Wis., one day recently. Mrs. Rose Mitchell of Waukegai) was a Sunday visitor in the home of her sister, Mrs. Louis Stoffel. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lockwood accompanied by her sister, Miss Lillian Behrens, of LaGrange, visited their uncle, Louis Behrens, 95, at Beloit hospital, Sunday, where he is recovering from surgery. It was the first time, in his life, he had been a hospital patient. John Bolger of Syracuse, N. Y., is spending a two weeks vacation in the home of his mother, Mrs. John Bolger. The Lavern Lockwood family of Lake Geneva, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Freund, Nancy and Gary Lockwood, McHenry, are vacationing at Delta, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. John Kueny of Kenosha, Wis., visited McHenry relatives Sunday. Miss June Smith of Gurnee called in the Joe Williams home Thursday evening. Mrs. Ida Quinlan and mother, Mrs. Clara Scholefield, of Park Ridge, former McHenry residents, in company with her sister, Mrs. Bill Snyder, and husband, of that city, are vacationing at Sturgeon Bay, Wis., for a few weeks. , Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stoffel and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Steber and son, Harry, visited McHenry relatives Sunday. Mr. and Mre. George Koltz, Janice and Robert, of Pelham, New York, spent a few days this week visiting in the Robert Thompson home. Mr. and Mrs. Loren Martin of Jacksonville, Fla., spent the past week with relatives here in McHenry. Waukegan spent Sunday in McHenry visiting relatives and watching the Fiesta Day parade. Raymond Fitzgerald has returned to his home in Marycrest, Kankakee, after spending five weeks with his grandmother, Mrs. Ann Rodenkirch. Mrs. Ann Rodenkirch and Mrs. George Fitzgerald and sons, Ronald and Raymond, and Gerald Rodenkirch were visitors at Holy Hill, Friday. OCTOGENARIAN MARKS BIRTHDAY AT WONDER LAKE Friends and relatives offered congratulations to Carlton Palmer of Wooded Shores, Wonder Lake, on the occasion of his eightieth birthday. Open house was held at the home of this octogenarian who was born in Hicksville, Ohio, July 13, 1881. A resident of Wonder Lake for th'e past 30 years, Mr. Palmer is retired from the J. P. Smith Shoe Co. of Chicago. Mr. Palmer and his wife are the parents of four children. Alice Holmeren. at home: Carlton, Jr., of Mount Prospect; Mrs. Delbert Ives, West Chicago; and Mrs. James Flanigan, Chicago. They have eight grandchildren and eieht great grandchildren. Mrs. John Earnings, Jr., of Pistakee Hills is a granddaughter. j. Keeping a record of daily happenings, weather conditions and visitors is Mr. Palmer's hobby. Tragic Air Crash Kills Paratrooper A former Woodstock resident, Richard Bryan DeWolf, 24, was killed in an airplane crash July 12 near his home in Clarksville. Tenn. He was the son of Dr. and Mrs. W. H. De- Wolf, 508 Dean street, Woodstock. , Mr. DeWolf, a paratrooper stationed at Ft. Campbell, Ky., was alone in a private plane when it went into a spin and crashed. Annual Lake County Fair Opens July 26 The 33rd annual Lake County Fair and 4-H Club Show Week starts Wednesday, July 26, and continues through five j days and nights, including Sunday, July 30, according to Ray T.
