The kids have been waiting anxiously for these particular days to come. I think even the grownups have looked forward to the St. J o h n ' s s u m m e r c a r n i v a l t h i s .»year. The committee in charge promises fun for one and all. There will be rides, games and refreshments for the enjoynaant of everyone. Those interest in good food (and who isn't) will be ready for the delicious fish fry which will be served Friday evenin^Lunch w i l l be a v a i l a b l e on t h e grounds Saturday and a roast beef dinner, served family style will be available beginning at noon on Sunday. All in all, it promises to be a most delightful weekend if Mr. weathercooperates. There will be lots of baseball in the offering for all you fans also. Most of the ball to be played will be serious but I hear an exhibition game is being planned that will add to the enjoyment of all. I can't promise it will be played according to the rules but it will be fun. This particular game wUl. be played early Sunday ewning. No matter which of the three days, Aug. 4, 5 or 6, you attend, fun is in store for you.. Golden Anniversary Celebrants A very large crowd of family, relatives and friends were present in the community club hall last-Saturday to fete Mr. a^ Mrs. Joe King upon their fircieth wedding anniversaiy. Joe, and Lena were married 50 years ago on July 26 at St. John's church. They were blessed with four children, Sister Albertine, O.S.F. of St. Joseph's church, Richmond; Leo, Sally Benson and Mabel Smith. The day was made even more enjoyable for Joe and Lena with the presence of Sistit Albertine. Ear'y in the evening, following dinner, a mock wedding was performed. Needless to say this incident was quite laughable. The long but most enjoyable day will be remembered forever by the celebrants. Birthday Corner Birthday greetings are in s\!!jw*e for Barbara Krasicki who will be nine on Aug. 2 and for Karen Hettermann who will turn nine on Aug. 3. Tommy Wakitsch will be lighting nine candles come Aug. 12. Best wishes to Charlene Freund who will be out of her 'teens as of Aug. 21. Aug. 25 is the natal day of R*th Martinec but I'm not telli^ her age. Happy birthday to all and the other August celebrants. Fire and Rescue Squad Calls Last Thursday the firemen of station 2 were called to the Ben Freund farm where a piece of machinery had caught fire. Carnival Everyone is inVited to attend the St. John's carnival Aug. 4, 5, and 6. A delicious fish fry will be served Friday and a roast beef dinner served Sunday. , Camping Richie Fredrick, Jackie Roggenbuck and Dave Smith went to the Boy Scout Camp, Camp Lowden, at Oregon, 111. On Wednesday -evening the Boy Scouts put on a program for their parents, which everyone enjoyed. Hospital News Marilyn Kinder is in the Col- -umbus hospital in Chicago and we send her many get-well wishes. A former resident, Len Guge, is ill and we hope he will be on his feet soon. We werfe sorry to hear that Mr. Tallow of Riverside drive, is in the hospital. We all wish him a speedy recovery. Visiting Bernie and Joan Kcnnebeck went up the river on Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gresens's boat to Wilmot where they enjoyed a wonder steak dinner. Bonnie LaBay is spending a week visiting in Rirhmonri. Joe Metzger and family went to Algonquin to visit their former neighbors, the Joe Schuman family. The children had a wonderful time getting re-acquainted. The Schultz family went to Aurora to visit old friends. . Visitors The LnBays had their nieces, Patty and Betty Biese, and Sandy Vande Voort over for a week. The Gunthers had their daughter, Barbara, and her fiance, Frank Cannataro, as guests for five days. Besides being a vacation for the young couple, final plans were made for their coming marriage Sept. 2. It was nice to see Bob and Carmella Sandborn and their two sons visiting their former neighbors. Birthday Parties Thirty children of the village were the guests at the Lowwas called to the river where a water skier had been hit by a boat propellar. The victim who suffered severe lacerations was taken in the ambulance to the McHenry hospital. P1STAKEE TERRACE NEWS Association Meeting The next Association meeting will be held at the Cal. Vyduna home on Aug. 7. Ladies Auxiliary At the next auxiliary meeting the officers will be installed and a cake demonstration given at the home of Grace Vyduna Aug. 10. Visiting The Leonard Toeppers went to Madison, Wis., to visit Joyce's brother and family. Later on in the week the Toeppers took the children to Brookfield Zoo. Visitors The Val Petulas had a patio party last Saturday. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gavin and family and Mr. and Mrs. John Wenzel and family of Fox Lake. Howard and Agnes Secord entertained friends from Arlington Heights over the weekend. They played a round of golf followed by a steak dinner. Accident Mary Mecko \vent to a company picnic and was hit by a flying baseball bat. Birthdays Happy birthday to Gary Weiss oh the fourth of August; to Marty Pritchard and Ed Weiss, Jr., on the fifth, and to Joy Vyduna on the eighth. Anniversary Happy . anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Erickson who have been married 9 years on the third of August. New Dentist A dentist has taken residence in the village of Sunnyside. He is Dr. Bruce Kwarta, D.D.S. and he is located at 4307 N. Wilmot road. Spring Grove Jessies Return From Mexico Mrs. Charles Freund Jerry and Ed Jessie returned this week from a trip to Mexico. Vacationing Mrs. Rose Marks is enjoying a vacation in California. She expects to be back this week. Mr. and Mrs. C. Muller, son, Richard, and his fiancee are enjoying a vacation in Las Vegas. Hospitalized Paul Weber is a patient in Sherman hospital, Elgin. He is under observation and receiving medical care. Funeral Service Funeral services for Margaret Hafner were held at St; Peter's church Monday morning. Mrs. Hafner was a longtime resident in this vicinity. She passed away "at St. Thercse's hospital, Waukegan, after a short illness on Saturday, July 22. Baseball Dan and Vic Freund saw the game between the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Braves at Milwaukee last Wednesday night. The Reds won 3 to 2. Picnics The John McGoverns held a cook-out at their home last Sunday afternoon. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Williams, Mr. and Mi's. Don Riemer and baby daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mensch and family of Arlington Heights, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wrenn and family of Arlington Heights, Bob McGovern of Chicago and Shirley Dawson. A picnic lunch was served their guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Connie Muller. Their weekend guests were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Raimondi. Garden Club The garden club had a lawn party at the home of Miss Sah Hansson Thursday afternoon. Card Club Mrs. Nora Miller entertained her card club on Thursday afternoon. Home on Leave Glen Fout, who is stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, enjoyed a weekend furlough at his home. While home he attended the wedding of his brother, Don. Mrs. Freund and son, Dan, left on Tuesday morning for Maine for a two week visit with the Koruses. Reunion Mr. and Mrs. William Shotiff and Mrs. Alice Wagner joined a group of relatives at the Shotliff reunion in Mackton, 111., on Sunday. This is an annual affair and relatives gather from miles around to attend the reunion. Few people recognize how many common words we now use that are borrowed from the Indians - for example -- Potomac, Manhattan, Niagara, Wabash, Chicago, Erie, hickory, hominy, moccasin, moose, pecan, persimmon, terrapin -- and the names of 27 of our states. Lakemoor May Continue Swimming Class . Havid Heckmann EV. 5-0532 The children, who have been attending the swimming classes should be glad to learn that the problem of "The Kick Bar" and the continuation of the classes are in the process of being solved. We have been assured by members of our village board and other interested people that this will be taken care of so that classes may continue this season. They were Genene Dember, and sister, Diane, Micki Morrison. and Pam Zabroski. What a grand way to spend a holiday, helping a young couple. First class Scout "Skip" Schuerr of Lilymoor made "Order of the Arrow." Dickie Bitterman, Ben DeCicco, Kenny Ehrhardt, Sam Kisla, Richard Kotiv, and Tommy Para became staff approved swimmers by swimming a prescribed course with four different strokes. Tom BosUer, Bob Hosie and Bob Tobias passed the 75 foot test for advancement in Scouting classes with the side stroke. Frankie Patellaro passed with the American crawl for the distance, no mean stunt* In camp-wide competition, "Adventure Trails", the Red Eagle patrol, made up of Dickie Bitterman as leader, Skip Schuerr, Kenny Ehrhardt, Terry Morrison, Tommy Para, Timmy Wirfs, Richard Kotiv, and Frank Pogany won "Excellent" in cooking, and "Good" in signaling, orienteering, amf in camping.
