It was interesting to note that higher auction prices were reported this year than at any time since the fairs were inaugurated. About 25,000 attended the four-day fair, and many of these expressed special interest in the $1,000,000 farm machinery exhibit on display. The Fair association, in counting this as the most successful event to date, was happy that so many dealers cooperated to present this Outstanding display. 'There were 170 entries in the horse show, which continues to grow jn popularity. Girl Scout Ratings In the Girl Scout division, first place in the Brownie class* went to Troop 201 of Wonder l.<ake Mrs. Frank Wasielewske, leader, and / second to Troop 192 of McHenry, with Mi's. Anthony Varese as leader. J The intermediate division found Troop 318 in Wonder I^ike receiving top honors, with Mrs. Stanley Wilson as leader. Other winners were Troop 495, Wonder Lake, with Mrs. John Harris as leader, third, and Troop 494 of Wonder Lake, Mrs. Fred Maxstadt: leader, fifth. Troop 201 of Wonder Lake took first place in the Brownie demonstration competition for the enactment of the Old Indian's Tale. Troop 495 won second place in the intermediate demonstration class. The accident occurred a; the crest of a hill as the youth was en route to work at the Jewel Tea Co., iu Barrington. His death brought the 1961 toll in the ' county to nineteen. Other Accidents A two-ear eoiiLsion on Rt, 176. near Silver Lake road, Sunday afternoon resulted in injuries to one driver. Frank M. Geske of Crystal Lake, who suffered shoulder and chest injuries and was treated at McHenry hospital. His car and a semi-truck tractor driven by Richard Madden of Wonder Lake, were reported to be traveling west when Geske attempted to pass the Other vehicle just as Madden started to make a left turn. Geske was charged with improper passing and the Madden youth for failure to signal a turn and for having no valid chauffeur's license. Catherine Druml of Lakeland Park was treated in McHenry hospital for a whiplash neck injury as the result of an auto accident Saturday afternoon on Rt. 120, west of McHenry. She was riding in a car driven by her husband, Edward, when they were struck from l>ehind by another auto driven by George Bolick of McHenry. The accident occurred when Druml slowed to permit a car ahead of him to turn. Frieda LaCerba of Wonder Lake was still confined to Memorial hospital in Woodstock Wednesday as the result of a two-car accident which occurred at the intersection <f Seneca and Seminole streets in Wonder Lake early this week. Mi's. LaCerba was eastbound on Seminole and the other car, driven by Stephannie Gale of Wonder Lake, was travelling north on Seneca when the vehicles collided Sam LaCerba. 10, riding with his mother, was unhurt. Miss Gale sustained facial lacerations. Only one minor accident occurred in McHenry last weekend. Police say Marcelline Gough of Millstream Drive was backing away from a parking place in front of the Jewel Tea Store on Elm street Friday morning when her car struck another vehicle driven by Louis F. Groth of McHenry, who was west-bound in the lane back of her auto. EXTENSIVE TOUR ABROAD ENDS FOR GLADSTONE FAMILY Dr. and Mrs. Lee Gladstone with their children, Lorna and Evan, returned to MqHenry this week after an extensive tour of Israel, Greece, Switzerland, Italy, France and England. Dr. Gladstone left McHenry on June 5 to attend the advance course in internal medicine held in Boston at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital of Harvard Medical School. In addition, to visiting foreign countries, Dr. Gladstone attended medical conferences and hospitals to observe tl systems and methods as cof pared to American.
