He had to borrow a hay rack from another farmer to complete his haying. .'Nutlier Item for the Men Folks Tfce McCullom Lake Sham- Sad Ending To Dream Vacation Nancy ami Tony Doolin were summonded home from their Hawaiian vacation with the very unhappy news that Nancy's sister, Mrs. Betty Baumbeok. had passed J away yery unexpectedly. It was a tragic end to the grandest .jaunt the two have ever had. They crossed the blue Pacific on the U.S.S. Matsonia and the ocean voyage was just delightful. Tony reports that after 24 hours in the Islands, they both felt" TTke natives!" The couple managed a lot of sight seeing and their visit was cut short by only a few days. Most amazing part was---the w o n d e r f u l c o n n e c t i o n s t h e y made for the return trip via the airways. NEW ^COUT UNITS NOW IN PROGRESS OF ORGANIZATION Over fifty Scouters of McHenry county met at the August Roundtables in the Kishwr. ukee district. In preparation for the usual fall influx of l>oy.s, District Executive Malcolm Ingison led the group in a discussion of unit organization of unit organization activities. He pointed out that by fall, due to new units now in the process of organization, there will be as many units in McHenry county as there were in the whole district before Boone county was split off to form a new district in June. "We stand higher now membership- wise," he said, "than we evdr have before." He went on to explain how the rapidly increasing population growth in the county will bring into being many additional units. Training (^purses for adult leaders are "planned for. consecutive Wednesdays this faU. a|nd for Tuesdays in the spring. Special training sessions will be made available.to the leaders of new units organized during the winter and next summer. He announced that this summer over 90 percent of the units in the Kishwaukee district will participate in long-lerm camping experiences. Threefourths of this will be either at Camp Lowden or the Northwoods camp which are operated by the Blackhawk Area Council pf which this district is a part. The fall camp-o-ree for the district will be held the first weekend in October. WENSE IMPROVEMENT Illinois scored 91 of a possible 100 points for improvement of its driver licensing program last year in the 1960 Annual Inventory, of Traffic Safety Activities administered by the National Safety council, Secretary of State Charles F. Carpentier, has announced. Together with fifteen other jurisdictions which scored the minimum 85 points or more, Illinois qualified for American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators awards in recognition of progress made toward achieving the recommended minimum standards for driver licensing, driver examination and driver improvement programs, Mr. Carpe^ tier said.
