Among them is Robert Frett, director. Henry Tonyan of McHenry is director exofficio. # Last week Mr. P. H. (Bill* Billeter had the biggest thrill of all of his golfing years! Bill made a hole-in-one on our 191 yard 8th hole with a 3 wood and using a First Flight ball. Bill has been trying for more than 40 years to get a hole in one. The amazing thing about this feat is that Bill is 73 years young, born on August 14, 1888. He was reminiscing about the first years that he was playing golf as a member in McHenry. He was runner-up tc Boots Remke in the Club Championship in 1935. At that time the caddies were Vale Adams, Fred Meyers, and George Johnson. Jr. Bill left McHenry in 1937 and joined Medinah Country Club. At Medin&h. he placed on their golf team which competed in the Northwest League. Bill later was club champion at Bunker Hill Country Club. He retired and moved back to McHenry in 1960 with his wife, a native born McHenry girl, Florence A. Rothermil Billeter. Bill and Florence have four children, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Congratulations, Bill, from all of us on your hole-in-one. This will help those of us who still dream of such an accomplishment. We'll never stop trying! Aggregate Tournament Winners: John Varese and Harry Nickelson beat Dick Hester and Dick Weber. Dick Freund and Jack Thies beat Tom Evans and A1 Olsen. Lou Consago and Jim Larkin beat Dick Rosing and John Betjman. Paul Overton and Russ Weyland beat Hank Sayner and Bill Funk. Page Flv* ED ZENDER WINS GOVERNOR'S CUP REGATTA EVENT Approximately 15,000 spectators were on hand Sunday, Sept. 17, to witness the 1961 Illinois Governor's Cup Regatta. This was one of the largest crowds ever to attend a boating event on Fox Lake. The two day event was held under ideal racing conditions with spectators enjoying the warm September sunshine. The regatta, sponsored by the Chain O' Lakes Boat Club, was sanctioned by the American Power Boat association. Frank "Dixie" Davis the boat safety supervisor for the Illinois Department of Conservation was on hand to present the Governors Cup as Gov. Kerner was unable to attend due to previous commitments. Ed "Zip" Zender of McHenry, 111., drove the winning boat the "Twinke". This E racing runabout is owned and maintained by Ralph Fuchy of New Berlin, Wis. Zender set a tremendous pace in the Twinke "as he outran the world record holder the Miss Steel City, formerly the We'E owned by Guy "Red" Wilson of Long Beach, Calif. His 85 to 90 MPH speed gave him the checkered flag for both heats. In the Sk racing runabout event, the "Lead Sled" dnven by John Stone of Glenview, Illwas completely demolished in the North turn during the first heat. Lars "Swede" Stromstedt ot McHenry, 111., driving Ed Sullivan's "Lutefish" near the century mark had no close competition as he took both heats in the 135 hydro class. Swede drove this boat to third place at the Nationals in San Diago, Calif., last month. The next Chain O' Lakes Boat Club racing event will be held on Oct. 15 on Fox Lake. This 5 hour free for all marathon event will be the last racing event of the season. The same pattern was used for both right and left shoes, until about time of Civil War. moved the green over to liili Pries' front lawn. Hank Sayner. tee shot on the eighth hole. Hank says he was aiming at Eddie Buss who was standing in his front yard. Bill Funk, tee shot on the 16th tee. Bill was short of the 12th green and Hank Tonyan outdrove Bill by shooting over the green.
