jpiursday, November 9,. 1961 THE MeHTNRY PLAINDEALJBR Page Thirteen McCullom Lake Turkey Trot At McDonald's Eve Lereaqm Bird? and baskets will be in evidence on Saturday, Nov. 11, ai McDonald's "Emporium" when the Ladies of the Lake sponsor their annual fall event. The money realized from these affairs is used for civic improvements, and the current project is getting larger and more durable street signs. In addition, to the "turkey t^lk". games will be played and Wher surprises are in store for you Planning comm i t 1 e e members include Betty Poledna, Lois Parenti, and your reporter, with assistance from the rest of the gals. Should be a really grand time, so break'out your "best bib 'n' tucker" and we'll be waiting to greet you at the door! ^•Scarecrows" Cop Costume Honors "Trike tot" Kevin Ingersol, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Ingersol. and Darcy Watson, whose parents are Mildred and Luther, walked away with top honors in the costume department at the Halloween party given by the Cullom-Knoll association on Oct. 31. Quite a wftincidence that both were garbed as scarecrows. Kevin's unique "skypiece" almost obscured his vision! but he managed to see well enough to collect his prize! More than 130 youngsters paraded in and out of the beachhouse in order that judges Elma Nelson and Don Parent! could make their selections. ^Eaeh child was presented with a bag of-"treats"; balloons which were donated by Fred Matthesius were distributed bv "clown" Rog Kinsey; and hot chocolate by the GALLONS! was dispensed. Many of the costumes were so unusual we wish it was possible to describe them all. One little fellow was a cute robot, «mer Gibson (who gave a and") made his own clever headpiece from paper boxes and bags, and there were "bugs bunnies", witches, and goblins galore. All too cute for words. Others who made contributions for the kids and deserve honorable mention are Tommy and John Fox, the Ed Hammersteins, Jean and Ed Whit*, ney. the Parentis, and Mr» and «rs. Theodor Olsen (in abntia). The beachhouse and the surrounding building and grounds were appropriately trimmed which added to the air of festivity. Board Will Meet Monday, Nov. 13 The reg u l a r l y s c h e d u l e d ijieeting of the president and ^•ustees will be held on Monday, Nov. 13, at 8 p.m.\ip the beachhouse. The public "is invited. MCL Teens--Official Name The young people which compose the t< club gave themselves a nam at their last meeting and will henceforth be known as the MCL Teens. They are making plans for a 4tt>liday dance which will be l\eld at the American Legion home, Dec. 29, and all "junior adults" are invited. They hope to purchase jackets for the fellows and sweaters for the gals in the near futufe. They will be brown with tan letters and should be quite attractive. These kids have been coming up with some mighty fine ideas and certainly deserve our support. Sorry trt Report That Art Stuhlfeier was taken ill on Sunday evening and was taken to McHeriry hospital by son-in-law Ben Gates, about 10 p.m. No report on his cofridition as of Monday morning, Hope his recovery is a rapid one. A True Viking The very day before she entered McHenry hospital, Martha Sylthe was -on the roof with her husband helping with hoitte repairs. She was admitted on Sunday and had surgery last Thursday.' According to hubby, Tom, she was due to come home the earl> part of the week. Wouldn't it be nice to drop her u cheery note during her convalescence? She has received so many at the hospital and they have been very comforting. Over the weekend, Tom was treated to a visit from long time friends, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Anderson (spelled with an o and he's a Norwegian!) and son, Paul, from Chicago. Bring Your Staple Items Tonight Members of the Ladies oi the Lake will convene tonight (Thursday) at 8 p.m. in the b e a c h h o u s e . F i n a l a r r a n g e ments for Saturday night's festivities will be made and all the gals are asked to bring canned goods, or any other type of staple item at this time. They will be used for basket stuffing, of course. Wedding Trip--But Not Her Own! Mrs. Roy Nye, who is very much married, flew to Detroit over the weekend to attend the nuptials of her sister's daughter on Saturday. The lovely bride, the former Rebecca (Becky) Webb, was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Jay Miller. For 'tlig* occasion, she wore a beautiful white ballerina length gown and short blusher veil. A wedding breakfast for eighty guests followed, and aunt of the bride, Mrs. Nye, must have been stunning in her black sheath and red hat which would accent her lovely blond coloring. Quite a" "figger" on this gal, too. Happy trip and she arrived home in fine shape on Sunday, and was met at O'Hare airport by hubby and kiddies. No "Fish" Story! With arms all the way out to here! Sailor Boy Due Home The Greg Burg household is readying itself for an "invasion" by the Navy. Apprentice Seaman Greg, Jr., is due home shortly for a 14 day leave.
