We are now known in Pistakee Highlands and Pistakee Hill as precinct 17 and will be voting in all political elections at the Pistakee Highlands Community Center. This has been a long time dream, as it will make that underfill American privilege 01 voting more convenient for the residents in our area. Our Republican precinct committeeman is one of our well known neighbors, Steve Vrbik. Filling the position as committee woman is Marilyn VanZevern. Republican judges for all political elections are Mrs. Marge Moreth, Mrs. Violet Johnson and Frank Grah$ i. Very soon we will be having an all out drive to get all the residents in Pistakee Highlands registered to vote. Please watch the column for further details. If you have already registered in McHenry county at your present location it is necessary only to mail in your registration cards to Woodstapk and they will be returned ti^you with the proper precinct number. For answers to any questions you might call Mr. Vrbik or Mrs. Bob VanZevern. Woman's Club News The newsletter was sent to all the women of the club on Nov. 10. President Catherine Sielisch could use more women t^ysell tickets for the demonstration for the McHenry hospital benefit on Nov. 30. Lynn Rosinski has volunteered her services for the holiday bake sale on Dec. 16. We need a few more helpers for that too. Just a reminder to the women there will be no November meeting just the demonstration. We will also need the services of some man to be Santa for the club tife year and any help in this department will be greatly appreciated. St. John's The St. John's Home and School association will hold a fruit cake and candy sale for the benefit of the school. Call Betty Schmitt at EV. 5-4714 for more details. 9 Johnsburg P.T.A. On Nov. 21 the Johnsburg P.T.A. will have as the guest speaker, John J. Shay, directtor of McHenry Civil Defense. This should be? a very interesting program. Girl Scouts The Girl Scouts had a horse back riding party Nov. 18. The ?^puts are also busy working on their badges. Water O.K. A recent report from the Department of Public Health has given us a clean bill of health on our water supply. The Moreths and Lindemanns attended a supper last Saturday at the V.F.W. in McHenry. Happy birthday to Elsie Rosenquist who celebrated her birthday on Nov. 11. Mr. and Mrs. Henie Sathe were dinner guests last Saturday at the home of Janice and Jerry Janquart. John Megley has been undergoing a series of tests and has been home from work for a week. Latest reports say he is back to work. The Reillys and Cassidys attended a football game at Notre Dame last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hanson were recent guests at the Gene Heirs. The Hansons are Joyce's parents. Happy birthday-tp my favorite little girl, Nancy Joan VanZevern, who will be three years old on Nov. 17. Irene Kolan was hostess for a demonstration last Sunday. Several of her neighbors and friends were on hand and enjoyed the afternoon. Belated birthday wishes to Jean Petrov who was 11 years old on Nov. 5. A pot-luck supper was held at the Mount Hope church last Tuesday evening. Wally and Kay Sielisch were Sunday dinner guests of the Joseph Hanisch family. The Sielisches enjoy Elizabeth's Bavarian cooking. The Herb Lindemanns had company this past weekend. They were their daughter. Marilyn, and family from Lansing, 111., daughter, Pat, and her friend, Elaine Paul, from Chicago. Janice Janquart and Marge Sargent attended a luncheon at the Lotus club recently. Lil and Leo Orlowski and Kay Sielisch visited Lil's sister, Nettie, in Trevor, Wis., last Tuesday. Lois Mason entertained her card club Wednesday evening. The usual gang included Jan Janquart, Dot Erbin, Carla Bales, Wanda Dobecki and Hazel Morley. Blanche Haefliger's brother, Lawrence, and his wife from Park Ridge were guests of the Haefligers last Sunday. Happy birthday to Linda Dobecki on Nov. 19. Catherine Sielisch was shocked to receive word her mother is very ill and has been admitted to the Blodgett hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich. McHenry Shores MANY PRIZES AWARDED DURING COSTUME DANCE Terry Coates On Saturday, Nov. 4, a good time was had by all who attended the dance. The cosumes were wonderful. First prize was won by Joyce Pinkonsly, second prize by Gordon Hattan and third prize by Martin Koleno. A five piece orchestra furnished the music and the fun continued until the wee small hours of the morning. Those who did not attend missed a good time and some very comical costumes. Shay, Civil Defense Director for the McHenry area, and Glenn Peterson gave a talk on the preparations that are being made for civil defense in this area. Pamphlets were passed out covering construction of several types of fall-out shelters and applications taken from those in attendance who desired to take part in this movement. The board of directors of the club presented new by-laws for adoption. However it was decided to mail out copies of the proposed by-laws to each member for study. They will be brought up again at the December meeting so all members are urged to attend that meeting if possible. Wilson of 802 Broadway McHenry Shores. Hospital Tea On Saturday, Nov. 4, the wives of doctors of the McHenry hospital gave a tea for the hospital auxiliary in the dining room of the new wing. Bee MacCallum and Irene Middlekauff attended. Benefit Bridge A group of women from McHenry Shores attended a luncheon and bridge party given by the V.F.W. Ladies auxiliary. Weekend Visit Mrs. Mildred Sniveiy visited her son and daughter-in-law, Martilou and Wilbur Schramm, and grandchildren in Glen Ellyn for a weekend. On Thursday, Nov. 9, Mildred gave a dinner for Mrs. Edmund Hogan and her daughter, Sally. Jack Schaeffer and Norman Mederios also attended. On the program will be a demonstration given by the Northern Illinois Gas Co. on Creative Cookery for Christmas. Girl Scout Troop 205 The mothers of the Girl Scouts met Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the home of Marge Barth and discussed how their daughters are progressing with the Girl Scout laws. The mothers each brought dolls dressed in original costumes. After the meeting angel food cake and coffee was served by the hostess. The Girl Scouts went on a hike Saturday, Nov. 11, and walked from the Johnsburg community club hall to the V.F.W. in McHenry. Sick List Little Steven Kipley was in the McHenry hospital having his tonsils removed and we hope he is feeling much better. Visitors The Gunthers were glad to see their daughter, Barb, and her husband when they came visiting Thursday.
