C. W. Stenger and F. E. Covalt have volunteered as auctioneers. St. Mary's church fair, which came to a close Thursday evening, was very successful. Over 600 meals were served by the ladies on Thanksgiving Day and the total net receipts were around $4,660. Nick Steilen of Chicago was winner of the Ford car and the hope chest, filled with articles of value, was won by Miss Frances Michels of Johns-burg. John W. Kimball, a resident of this vicinity for many years, passed away at his home on Waukegan street Saturday evening, following a few days illness. at the" age of 82 years. Nelson of Elgin at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Charles McArthur, in Elgin on Thanksgiving morning. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO Taken from the Files of Nov. 26, 1936 Wednesday, Nov. 25, was one of golden memories for two of McHenry's highly respected couples, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Niesen and Mr. and Mrs. Nick F. Freund, as they celebrated their fiftieth wedding annivers a r i e s w i t h r e l a t i v e s a n d riends. This date, fifty years ago, is outstanding in the memories of many local residents because it was the occasion of four wedding ceremonies solemnized in a joint nuptial high Mass at St. John's church, Johnsburg. The other two couples were Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Huff and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schaefer. Mrs. Huff and Mr. Schaefer have now passed away. The Adams brothers. Vincent and Clemens, took part in the barn dance show at Rock ford over Station WROK Thursday. They will be heard again on 12-7-611 Thanksgiving Day in both aft- . ernoon and evening shows. Walter E. Aufrecht. son of the Walter S. Aufrechts of Crystal Lake, formerly of MeHenry, is shown examining his local preacher's license with Rev. Lloyd Coleman of the First Methodist church of Crystal Lake. Announcement was made at a recent worship service. The young man. who attended grade school in MeHenry, was active in the MeHenry Community Methodist church and received the God and Country award in scouting from Rev. J. Elliott Corbett, an award which led to his interest in the ministry. He is now a student at Illinois Wesleyan university, Rloomington, and plans to enter the Christian ministry. He has received a local preacher's license from the Methodist church, following the completion of a special course of instruction at Wesleyan during the summer. He will attend Boston Theological seminary, and has been accepted in his pre-registration there. The Bostwi school is recognized as one of the outstanding theological schools of the Methodist church. Private Antoinio, whose wife, Parma, lives in MeHenry, is c u r r e n t l y u n d e r g o i n g b a s i c training with the third training regiment, <BCT), at the United States Army training center, Armor (USATCA>, Fori Knox, Ky. Upon completion of the eight weeks course ending Dec. 22, he will receive an additional eight weeks' advanced individual training. PHILLIP BARTMAXN Pvt. Phillip E. Bartmann has completed his basic training at Fort Knox. Ky., and spent the Thanksgiving holiday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Fraunhoffer, at 405 N. River road. He will report Dec. 1 to Fort Mommouth, N. J.. for further training in cryptographic school. Antarctica to participate, in Operation Deepfreeze 62. The Arneb, a veteran of the last six Deepfreeze operations, this year is bringing the component parts, including radioactive material, for Antarctica's first nuclear powet plant. Vidovich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vidovich of Wonder Lake, recently completed a week of testing and screening at the Naval Air Technical training center, Memphis, Tenn. Charles E. Thornton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles O. Thornton of 317 N. Crestwood, MeHenry, completed recruit training recently at the Naval Training certter, Great Lakes. COURT BRIEFS ROBERT J. HANNON Pvt. Robert J. Hannon of 2212 VV. Riverside, Orchard Heights. McHenrv, son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Hannon, has finished basic training at For; I^eonard Wood, Mo., and is now stationed at Fort Sill, Okla. One of the heaviest fines to be given by Justice of the Peace Charles Adams was imposed last Saturday on Raymond Zobjeck of Woodstock, who was fined $500, plus costs, on a charge of reckless driving. Mr. Zobjeck was arrested on Oct. 20 for the above offense and was to have appeared in court Nov. 11. He failed to appear and was later apprehended by the sheriff's patrol on Nov. 27, at which time he had open liquor in his auto. On a plea of guilty to the reckless drivirfg charge he was fined and delivered on a capias mittimus to the county jail to serve out his fine. Zobjeck, who is 26 ahd single, said he didn't appear in court because of illness. Lawrence C. Fuhrer of Wonder Lake was fined $12 for failure to signal a left turn. A $15 fine was imposed on James R. Erickson of Chicago for following too closely. Ronald A. Freund paid a $7 fine for driving with loud mufflers. Carol L. Rudden of Island Lake was fined $8 and Loetta Aldredge of MeHenry paid a $10 fine, both for speeding. Patricia A. Dunne of La- Grange was fined $10 for driving too fast for conditions. A $20 fine was charged to Bertha M. Jaeger of MeHenry lor improper lane usage. Kurt H. Laver of MeHenry paid a $6 fine for disobeying a stop sign. Donald J.
