The project for this meeting was the packing of Christmas stockings for the aged residents of the Valley Hi home at Hartland and a few stockings for Shangri La at McHepry. Fjom the superintendent at Yftlley Hi members learned that the men and women there derive pleasure from the gifts sent from this and other clubs in the county. A donation to the Plant, Fruit and Flower guild was made and earmarked for the noinsettia fund. The guild. is the same one that in summer distributes flowers and plants to hospitals and children's homes. Mrs. George Johnson is the McHenry chairman for the guild. The club voted to participate in the conservation program and Mrs. Harry Stinespring consented to handle the chairmanship. The club will send one high school student to conservation school during the suTToner. ' s1- Another Garden club activity this year will be the promotion of the idea of children planting a tree on Arbor day. Mrs. Erik Braenne and Mrs. Alex Duncan are in charge of this program. A pot-luck luncheon was served for, and by, the members. This, too, is an annual c u s t o m . Two noa-m e m b e r kitchen guests, Robert Thompson and George Johnson, pep* nounced the pot-luck a great success and a look at their trays proved they were serious. The next meeting of the dub will be in March at the. home of Mrs. Earl Krukow. In view of the large increase in membership, the officers of the Marian Central Fathers' club have given their full endorsement ta a welfare pro gram for \be> plug's numbers. This program will provide in part "In the event of the death <»f a Fathers' club member, the tuition of his children (who are attending Marian Central at that time) will be paid by the Fathers' club for the balance of the children's high school career at Marian Central." Frank Kendrigan, newly appointed^ chairman of the welfare committee, will present the'5 full welfare program for membership' approval at the club's regular monthly meeting on Jan. 23. Maurice F. Clark of McHenry, vice-president and program chairman of the club, is busy making plans for the first meeting of 1962. Clark's plans are to invite all of the members' wives to attend this meeting so they will have a chance cJo observe the regular business procedure of eoinmittee chairmen and officers reporting on the club's activities. * In other business, Melvin ^Johnson, chairman of the mem • .bership committee, reports that thirty-three new members have ^joined the club so far this month. He further reports that his committee has agreed to .extend the membership drive until Jan. 10. This additional time is needed, Johnson says. Freund was given an honorary membership in the Kiwanis club of McHeniy at the installation and initiation meeting held earlier this month at the Legion home. Lt. Gov. Harold Wright of DeKalb installed the 1962 officers. The new president is Adams, with Roland He; as 1963 president-elect. officers installed were Virgil Pollock, first vice-president;/ Cy Young, second vice-president; William Collatz, secretary; and Dr. William Kohl, treasurer. HOLY FAMILY :HURCH CHOIR SINGS FIRST MASS PERSONALS The Church of the Hojy Family Junior choir in fOS Lake, which was organized in October of this year, will sing its first Mass Dec. 31 £t the 9 a.m. sevvice. The Junior choir will go carolling at the rest homes in their area on the evening of Dec. 22. Richard Harrington, a member of Holy Family, will tape a recording of the Junior choirs Christmas music, which wITf be played during the Christmas season over the FM radio station, WNWC. Fidler of Riverstream drive, McHenry, has earned academic honors for the second six weeks' grading period at Wentvvorth Military academy and has qualified for the dean's special distinction list. Cadets who earn academic honors during the grading periods are accorded extra privileges and are permitted , to wear the scholastic bar on their uniforms. $85,000 DAMAGE SUIT John Kwak of Pistakee Highlands has filed suit for $85,000 in circuit court on behalf of his son, Ronald, 16, against John Sanders of Spring Grove.
