Page Sixteen THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Village of Sunnyslde LOCAL COUPLE MEET FAVORITE TV PERSONALITY Glenda Wieck - 885-4716 Marvin and Laura Muleski went to Chicago recently with Bob and Charlotte Andrews of •Libertyville and Ted and . Mary l^ovack of Chicago. In a floor show at a well known hotel they saw Marvin's favorite westerner Gene Barry, better knuwn as Bat Masterson. Being a Bat Masterson fan Marv was very pleased to be able to shake hands with him after the show. Just think now we cgn ail shake hands with the hand that shook the h$nd of Bat Masterson. Laura said they all had ft very enjoyable 'evening but that she especially enjoyed the performance of tvj/o dancers who preceded the featured attraction. She said that the precision and ease whiph they cjfUicecl was breathtaking to wateh. the rest of her classmates on Jan. 38 at St. John's parish. At her confirmation she took the name of Ann. Her sister, Therese, was her sponsor. After the confirmation, Pauline was guest of honor at a dinner party attended by her grandmother and aunt. Social Club The Sunnyside social club will meet on Feb. 24 in the home of Betty and Ed Lehman. On your calendar of coming events mark that date and watch this column for further information. Visits Parents pelma Monte of Menornonee F^Jls, Wis., formerly of Sunnyside, was in town on Jan. 27 to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thelen. While .she \yas in town, she also took time out to run over and have a quick cup of coffee with her close friend, Laura Muleski. South Viet Nam Visitor On Fpb. 1 we had a visitor in our home from Saigon, South Viet Nam. Her name • was Chinh Lhi Nguyen. Chinh i is an exchange student and i is attending college at West-; em Michigan University in j Kalamazoo. She came to the! states on an I.C.A. scholarship. It was very interesting to hear her tell of her life in Saigon. She told uk that her I father's name was Opn Suyen Nguyen and that he was the | director of South Asian political affairs.-'Chinh came to visit ! with my sister, who lives iff; Niles. She stays with my sister and her family whenever she has a vacation from her college work. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m. The Rev. Erskine M. Jeffords will show a film and give a talk on the Lake Bluff Children's home and its relation to the other institutions of the Rock River conference. I am sure this will be a very interesting evening so be sure and come and bring a friend, any woman interested may attend. The program committee of the W.S.C.S. met in my home Jan. 30 and planned the schedule of events for the next six months. We think we have a very interesting program listing, plan to attend all of o\ir meetings and voice your opinion. Program booklets will be available at the above mentioned meeting. Ouch! This might serve as an example and lesson to the children who throw snowballs: Saturday, Jan. 27, little Linda Muleski was hit in the mouth with an ice ball and had to take a quick trip into the doctor's office. The doctor's examination revealed that she had a badly cut mouth and her two front teeth were knocked loose but that fortunately no stitches were required. We certainly hope Linda is feeling better by now. Visit Cousins Jim and Marilynn Kinder and their three girls accompanied by Marilynn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Lang from Chicago, went to Lindenhurst, recently to deliver a belated birthday gift to Ronnie Spiegl. Marilynn said that the bad weather prevented them from delivering the gift on time. Ronnie Spiegl is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob SpiegL Slip-up Dept. The confirmation of Pauline Schneider was unintentionally omitted in last week's column. Pauline was confirmed with Mt, Hope News The fourth quarterly conference will be held on Feb. 12, at eight o'clock in the Mt. Hope Methodist church. All members are urged to attend this conference. The election of church officials, the annual reports and other important bus- t iness is on the agenda for this evening. A reminder of the Mt. Hope ! boys and girls of sixth, sev- ! enth and lighth grade age. j Don't forget that Feb. 11 is! the date that the Intermediate j Youth Fellowship will meet. • The time is 6 p.m. The Women's Society, of | Christian Service will meet on i Brownie News Brownie troop 150 met in the home of Marion Pflug on Tuesday, Jan. 30. The girls decorated the Lemme Sticks they had painted the week before. Lemme sticks, by the way are rhythm sticks. The girls also practiced the Virginia- reel and painted orange juice cans, which will be used ni pencil holders. Leonie Schneider was president, Jackie Smolinski, mother helper, and Kathleen Brennan, secretary. Cookie hostesses were Leonie Schneider and Audrey Seliga. The cookies next week will be furnished by Kathy Pflug and Doreen Patterson. Doreen Patterson .was this week's reporter. Visiting Time I think that it is about time we villagers really got to know one another, so starting this week we will be visiting with our friends ;»nd neighbors through this column. I couldn't think of a better place to start than with our village president and his family, so here goes: 1 am sure most everyone in the village know the Muleskis. Marvin and Laura Muleski took up their residence in Sunnyside at 1518 W. Channel Beach Avenue in June of 1954. When time permits and when vacation time rolls around his favorite pastimes are boating, water skiing and golfing. In the winter his main hobby is bowling. Laura's main interest right now are their four children. As far as hobbies go Laura is a summer gal and enjoys boating and water skiing with Marv. You will find their son, Dphny, age 9, busy training Tuffy his Christmas puppy and playing with his train, while Linda, their oldest daughter age 7 is currently interested in her Barbie doll.
