(Thursday, February 8, 1962 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER OBITUARIES JOSEPHINE SWANSON Mrs. Josephine Swanson, 89, of DesPlaines, mother of Dr. Carl Swanson of McHenry, died Feb. 1 in Holy Family hospital, DesPlaines. She was a native of Sweden but had been in the United States since she was a young girl. Besides Dr. Swanson, she is survived by a daughter, Lillian, of DesPlaines, and one grandchild. Services were held Saturday morning from the Drake & Son funeral home, Park Ridge, with interment in Rosehill cemetery, Chicago. Dr. GEORGE W. HESS The first word of the death of Dr. George W. Hess, formerly of McHenry, was received this past week by friends here, although the well known veterinarian died many months ago. A lingering illness was ended in death due to a heart attack Inst spring. Survivors are his wife, Lorena, and two sons, Jack of California and James of Springfield. Dr. Hess was McHenry county veterinarian and later carried out his practice as an employee of the state. MARGARET CURLY Robert J. Frisby, Sr., has received word of the death of his sister, Mrs. Margaret Curly, in Sioux Falls, S. D., on Feb. 1. Funeral services and burial took place in Sioux Falls Monday. Page Five MARIUS HANSEN Services were held Sunday afternoon from the Schneider- Leueht funeral home in Wbodstock for Marius E. Hansen, 75, of Wonder Lake, who died in his home Friday, Feb. 2. Rev. W. L. Thummel of Nativity Lutheran church officiated at last rites. He was born Aug. 22, 1886, in Denmark. Mr. Hansen was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his widow, Charlotte; two sons, Joseph of Ferguson, Mo., and George of DesPlaines; eight grandchildren; two sisters in Denmark and a brother, Lasalle in Wonder Lake. ANNA REEKIE Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Reekie, 63, of Pistakee Highlands, were held Monday morning from St. Odilo Catholic church, Berwyh, with burial in Queen of Heaven cemetery. Mrs. Reekie, who died Feb. 1, was a patient in Oak Park hospital for two weeks prior to her death. The deceased was born May 27, 1898. A former resident of Berwyn, she and her husband came to this area to live with their son, Roy Reekie, five years ago. Other survivors include a son, Frank, of Lake Villa; a grandchild, four sisters and three brothers. She was a member of St. Peter's church, Spring Grove. NETTIE VANDERPOOL Mrs. W. S. (Nettie) Vanderpool, mother of Rev. Fr. James Vanderpool of Christ the King Catholic church, Wonder Lake, died last Saturday, Feb. 3, in Tulsa, Okla. Besides her son, who was former administrator of St. Patrick's church in McHenry, she leaves her husband. Services and burial were in Tulsa. LUDWIG THALHOFER Ludwig Thalhofer, 79, 3515 W. Washington street, died Thursday night, Feb. 1, at McHenry hospital where he had been a patient for about ten days. He had been in ill health for many months. Walter and Charles, of Evanston. MRS. FRED F. WAHL A funeral Mass was read Friday morning in St. Nicholas Catholic church, Evanston, for Mrs. Fred F. (Rose) Wahl, 67, of Evanston and Orchard Beach, McHenry, who died Jan. 30 in Lutheran General hospital, Park Ridge, where she had been confined for ten days. ANNA FREDERICK Last rites were conducted by Rev. George W. Martin of McHenry Community Methodist church at the Murphy chapel in Elmwood Park at 1 o'plock Saturday for Mrs. Anna Frederick of Lilymoor, who died in Harvard hospital Feb. 1. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery, Elmwood Park. The deceased became a summer resident here in 1938 and a permanent resident nine years later.
