The evening will begin with the banquet tor which each girl attending is asked to bring twenty-five cenls to defray food cost. Installation of officers and initiation will follow. The evening will end promptly at-7:30 and all parents picking up their daughters are asked to be there by that time. Tenth Birthday Celebration All the young girls who attended Susan Heim's birthday p;irty last Friday in honor of her tenth birthday really had themselves quite a time. A cart pulled by a darling pony was on hand to provide rides for all the girls. Pizza and all the trimmings were served as the birthday supper. Girl Scout News The Scouts of troop 378 were thrilled to have two men representing the Navy from Great Lakes at their meeting last Tuesday. The men demonstrated various types Of knots. Each girl was given a piece of rope and in turn showed what they had learned from this demonstration. Troop 295 held their meeting again last week at the home of Joan Wolczynslci. Attendance and dues were taken followed by Mrs. Long teaching the troop members a new game. Kathy Palmer was refreshment hostess and* all the girls enjoyed the delicious cupcakes she served. Kathy Barth also reports eleven girls were present at this meeting along with Mesdames Dehn, Long and Wolczynski. There will be no meeting on April 10. This troop would like to extend get well wishes to their leader, Mrs. Barth, and to Mrs. Wolczynski who recently was under the weather with the flu. v' . Please call Virginia Pitzen no later than April 21 if you wish to attend. 1 Caution Warning Renewed Once again it has been brought to my attention about the children of orir schools who are wilfully neglectful about their manners walking to and from school. Many of these children are at the age where they should know better but continue to • be disrespectful to persons driving cars. Some of these youngsters walk in the middle of the road and actually dare the cars to hit them. Most persons using our town roads are careful drivers but one of these days someone may Mr. and Mrs. Claude F. Mc- Dermott have returned from a three week vacation in Florida. While touring the state they visited several former residents of our area. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Werz are enjoying their retirement at Port Charlotte but are still active in community affairs. Mr. and Mrs. Les.Vineer are at Deerfield Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hoppert live at Ormond Beach where "Hank" has only two blocks to go to enjoy the fishing. All of these fine folks sent greedings to their friends and relatives up north. All are enjoying good health and especially those sunny winters. After this artic winter we rather envy them! Blessed Sea Gulls Because of the severity of the past winter the depth of ice on our lake resulted in the winter kill of a great number of fish. During the heighth of a recent storm the sea gulls were forced inland from Lake Michigan to seek greener pastures for a feeding ground. What a pleasant sight to see these countless creatures solving what could have been a s e r i o u s d i s p o s a l p r o b l e m . Thank God for the balances of nature! T h e s e h a r d y s e a - f a r e r s would pick them out of the thawing shoreline open water, transport them to the ice-floe where they rather leisurely enjoyed' their meal. Drill Team Progress We were very pleased to note during a recent visit to the community building the fine organization and co-operation demonstrated by the youths of our area who devote their energies to the success of the Lakemoor Scouts drill team. Under the able direction of Norman Morrison and aided by the parents organization this juvenile group is restoring adult confidence in this area's youth. The esprit de eorps is very evident and we wish to express best wishes to all who have helped these youths in, this civic project! Our deepest gratitude to the members of the V.F.W.
