JANICE PI I>I.I:K Richard Stilling To Claim Bride Announcement has been made of the engagement of Miss Janice Pudlek to Mr. Richard G. Stilling, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stilling of Riverside Drive. McHenry. The prospective bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pudlek of Klmwood Park. Miss Pudlek and her fiance are alumni of Northern Illinois university. They plan to be married June 2 at St. Celestine church. Klmwood Park. Couple Honored On 25th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Joseph English of 2623 W. Kashmiri, Shalimar, were surprised at a party held in the home of her brother, Richard Young, in Mount Prospect Saturday evening in honor of their twentyfifth wedding anniversary. Thirty-five guests were present to congratulate the couple and spend an enjoyable social hour. Included among those present were the Englishes' sons, Robert and Thomas, both students at the University of Illinois, and daughter- in-law, Christine; also brothers and sisters of Mrs. English. Among guests were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dockery of Wonder Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert ^Michmerschuizen of McHenry. In charge of the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth English, sister and brother-inlaw of Mi*s. Joseph English, who were attendants at the wedding twenty-five years ago. The actual anniversary date was April 11. MOUNT HOPE TO JOIN IN EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE CARLA JOHNSON Carla Johnson Will Marry Next Summer The approaching marriage of Miss Carla Johnson, daughter of Mrs. Hazel B. Johnson and the Jate Carl L. Johnson, to Mr. Harold W. Hutchison, Jr., has been announced by her mother. Mr. Hutchison is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold W. Hutchison, Sr., of Barrington, formerly of McHenry. The wedding will take place on July 28 at Bethany United Church of Christ, Chicago. Bill and Bessie Schwieger 4-12-62 BARBARA KWIATKOWSKI Kenneth Brennan To Wed Wisconsin Girl Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Austin of Nippersink, Wis., annuunre the engagement of their daughter, Barbara Lee Kwiatkowski, to Kenneth R. Brennan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brennan of Ringwood. Miss Kwiatkowski is attending Badger high school at Lake Geneva, Wis., and her fiance, a graduate of McHenry high school, is now attending Moler barber college in Chicago. No date has been set for the wedding. Former Residents Observe Anniversary Old friends of Mr. and Mrs. James Beavis in this city will be interested to know that they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary by holding open house at their home at 9005 S. E. Northgate, Vancouver, Wash., on Sunday, April 8. The Beavis family made McHenry their home for some time before moving to Crystal Lake in 1940. Mr. Beavis conducted a tailor shop while here where he was a member of the American Legion and she was active in the Legion auxiliary, Eastern Star and Royal Neighbors. Their son, Walter, and his wife live in Estes Park, Colo.; another son, Clifford, was killed while serving in the Philippines in 1944 and their only daughter, Joyce, who was born in McHenry, is now Mrs. Delkey Wasnocka and lives with her husband and three sons in Vancouver. Mrs. Nettie Weber is the great-grandmother. Teacher Salary Schedule Set A new salary schedule for teachers was adopted by the board of School District 15 when members held theijr April meeting Monday evening cf this week. For a B.A. degree, the starting salary under the new schedule is $5,000, reaching the top of $6,800 in thirteen years. An increment of $200 is given for every four years of continuing service in the McHenry schools, and for every four years after reaching the top of the salary schedule. The M.A. degree starting salary is $5,300, reaching a high figure of $7,400 in thirteen years. An increase of $200 is also given under the same conditions as the B.A. degree. The many friends, pupils and former pupils of Miss Genevieve Knox will be sorry to learn that she has presented a letter of resignation to the board. Miss Knox has taught school for forty-four years, thirty-three of these in the McHenry schools. Milton Eastman, speech consultant from the State Department of Education, visited the schools on April 4, but a report has not yet been received from him. NAMED CLASS OFFICER Rosemary Roti of Wonder Lake was elected treasurer of the junior class at Illinois Slate Normal university when students went to the polls last week to select sophomore, junior and senior class officers for the 1,961^62 school year. FIREMEN KEPT BUSY DURING RECENT DAYS SHOP IN McHENRY A quantity of hay was destroyed and the barn which housed it on the Frank Wilson, Jr., farm, located on Fishe^ road, east of Lakemoor, was damaged by fire last Sunday morning. Local firemen aided the Wauconda department by bringing additional water to fight the blaze. Wilson was taken to St. Therese hospital, Waukegan, where he was treated for smoke inhalation. "fhe fire was discovered b\- the Wilson children, who sum-"* moned their father and a neighbor. All livestock and a pony were led to safety. Friday afternoon was a busy one for members of Company I of the McHenry township Fire Protection District. Their first call was to Griswold Lake, southeast ol the city, where a two-car gaiaee owned by Vernon Baxter hacfU caught fire. There was no one home at the time. Damage was estimated at about $200. A grass fire broke out just a short time later on uroperty in the rear of the Scan-Am building on Crystal Lake road. Other firemen answered this call and kept the blaze from spreading. Firemen hurried to Glenn Marunde residence Country Club subdivision about 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon to extinguish a glass fire which was spreading.
