In the absence of Mrs. Helen Corey, -president, the meeting was conducted by Mrs. Gertrude Boyle and Mrs. Margaret Stoffel. Several members joined the Illinois School Food Service a s s o c i a t i o n , t h e r e b y m a k i n g the county group an affiliate of the state association. Mrs. Dorothy Hyland, dis- . trict representative from the state of Illinois, was guest speaker. She told members many interesting facts concerning state rules and regulations governing school lunches. A question and answer session followed, 'ifter which it was announced that the Sept. 31 clinic would be held at the Crystal Lake high school. Members were asked to keep the date Sept: 22 open for a workshop at the Dixon high school. Delicious dessert and coffee were served to close the meeting. Wed May 5 Bridal Shower Honors Sharon Tindell A bridal shower was given at the home of Mary Beth Joyce Tuesday evening in honor of the bride-to-be, Sharon Tindell. Guests included close friends, Jean Smith, Kathy and Chris Michels, Mary Demaggio, Barb Sawdo, Sandy Hastings, Sharon Dowe, Diane Owens, Mary Chatterdon and Linda Schopp. Miss Tindell will become the bride of Mr. Ramon Charbonnier^ in a July wedding. Announce Marriage Of Kathleen Thompson Mr. and Mrs. Andrew C. Thompson of Wonder Lake announce the marriage of their daughter, Kathleen Louise, to Pfc. Robert L. Norton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Norton of Woodstock, which took place May 11 at Fairbanks, Alaska. The newlyweds will reside in Alaska until October, when he expects to be transferred to another Army post. Levesque 5-24-62 A course in child development is currently being offered to the staff of District 10 schools in Woodstock. This u n u s u a l i n : s e r v i c e t r a i n i n g project is the result of cooperation between doctors from the Mental Health center for McHenry County, 3514 W. Waukegan road, McHenry, and s c h o o l a d m i n i s t r a t o r s , a n d i s designed to widen the ~ieacher's understanding of psychological. physical' and emotional factors affecting the children in the classroom. The faculty for the course includes Dr.. David Buck, child psychiatrist and" Dr. Ben A. Joshel. clinical psychologist? of the Mental Health Center staff: Dr. Dust in Wilson, District 10; and Dr. Peter Griesbach. pediatrician. It is the first such course to be offered by the Mental Health center to any school in the county. The nine panel discussions which comprise the course .range from the child's physical development; through personality -and cultural factors in development; to ^measurement, clinical diagnosis, and the | problems ol' except ional_^^ldren. : I The project was undertaken : by the Mental Health center as par? of a general policy of i work within the community towards the promotion of beti te:- mental health pr&ctices and J the prevention, through in- | creased understanding, of se- I vere emotional disturbances. As. their slaff duties permit-, doctors from the center will be available for consultation with schools, other professional groups, and community agencies. The support of this program through contributions from individuals and group donors, is one( of the fundamental steps toward improved mental health in McHenry count v. Swanson, will present a program /at the, McHenry high school auditorium Saturday, Tune 2, at 8 o'clock. It is sponsored by the Methodist Men's Fellowship of Ringwood. The idea for the chorus was initiated in the mind of Anders G. Hvass, a Christian tailor who loved music above his woolens, needles 'and threads. Mr. Hvass envisioned a great plan which crossed denominational boundaries and eventually brought together men to sing the great hymns of t5he church and anthems.
