On their long list of doing was the circus, which is truly "the greatest show on eart h", O'Hare Field, which is getting to l>e a fabulous air terminal, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Shedd Aquarium, Lincoln Park Zoo. an amusement park, and a day at the beach. They ended the week with dinner at th<? senior Jerry Ryan* in Arlington Heights ip honor of their sister-in-law s birthday and Jerry's brother' and his wife's wedding anniversary. Don and Carolyn Roths and family spent their vacation visiting their parents in Iowa. Carolyn's parents; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith, live in Bode and Don's parerns. Mr. and Mrs. Art Roth.v live in Ionia. Iowa. The -George Thienes family went to E\ansville, Ind., on their vacation, where they visited Mary's parents, Mr, and Mrs. Bell, a n d also George's parents. Mr and Mrs. Thienes. Jim and Georgiana Wilson and family went to Decatur to visit Jim's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd E. Wilson. California Vacation The Dick Wiegmans have returned from their leisurely vacation trip to California. This was a fabulous one and just my dream, as yet. They camped in Yellowstone Park which was just full of bears. They took in Reno and spent four wonderful days>" in Las Vegas where they saw some shows and many stars. High on the list of favorites was the hour and a half show given by Red Skelton. They saw Hoover Dam. Sait Lake City where they got out for a swim, Hollywood, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. They drove across the hot Mohabi desert which was 120 degrees in the shade and no shade. They visited friends in California and saw Marineland and spent an entire day in Disneyland. They enjoyed wonderful weather all the time. Doesn't a trip like th is make your feet itch; it does mine! will lie a young Scout of eleven, David Roths will become a young lad of one, and also celebrating this big day will be Barbara Weirich. Here's to a year full of real happiness for each and every one of you! Anniversaries Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mueller and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smithson wiil be celebrating their wedding anniversaries July 16. The very best of wishes. Shower Dick and Lydia Fenner took Lorraine Fenner and Howard Harre out for dinner in a Chicago restaurant. Then they drove to the home of Irma Hammang for a surprise bridal shower on the couplc who are planning a September wedding. Lydia created all the very lovely table decorations including the tiered . wedding cake. H e r s i s t e r - i n - l a w r e c e i v e d many nice gifts of appliances and linen and several amusing joke boxes. will take the doctor's advice and get plenty of rest. Hope you are feeling fine and stay that way. Happy Birthday Wishes Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Willard Barnes on Friday, July 13. Saturday. July 14, best wishes go to Mark Borcovan who will become a young handsome boy of ten and to Dennis Useman who will be all of four years old; also to Howard Booster. Sunday, July 15, Margaret Pickett and Freida Durkin can blow out their birthday candles. July 16 Debbie Ryan will be celebrating her sixth birthday and soon will be entering first grade and Danny Mitcheil will be just two. Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Zgorski. who came toucher to spend the day. The -John Coughlin family enjoyed guests from Des Moines They were Pal's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Garaty. and young son. Tom riiy, Jr. Tommy is their godchild and was celebrating his very first birthday. Visiting the Frank Woolwines for the weekend was young Tern's godmother, Mrs. Pomerantz,. from San Francisco, Anniversary Celebrants Bob a n d Rosemary New Ion had a wonderful evening out on their wedding anniversary. They enjoyed a comedy playin Marengo and then went to a carnival. Birthday Parties On Monday, July 2. little Laura Groin had a wonderful time at her birthday party. She invited six little girls in to enjoy the games, cake, and ice cream with her. Georgina Thienes had a swell time at her party. Present wore nine little girls who all enjoyed the games, cake, and ice cream. Tuesday Terry Wool wine celebrated his fourth birthday with his aunt and uncle. Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy, and three children, from Chicago. Wednesday he celebrated again with a birthday party in Mc- Cullom Lake at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pohlman. Faith Presbyterian Church In the absence of vacationing Rev. John O. Mclntyre Elder Earl Murray gave the Sunday1 services July 8. New Arrival The Bill Huemann family welcomed a fourth son into the fold June 30 when 8 lb., 3 '4 oz. Todd Benjamin joined them. Now you can get double bunk beds and you're all set! So nice when they come out even! Our congratulations! Around the Manor Saturday, June 23, the Fenner family attended the graduation party of Dick's niece ana godchild, Diane Fenner, in Chicago. They enjoyed a big dinner. dancing, and seeing all the family. The Fenner family are enjoying the company of their Chicago guest, 10 year old Diane Del Santo. The Tom Birmingham family enjoyed the cbmpany of their weekend guest, nephew James Birmingham. Visiting the Birmingham residence on the Fourth of July were Mrs. Marie Armstrong, and Jean, Bill and Michael Maroney. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grom entertained eighteen people on the Fourth of July. The m6n beean the day with golfing. They all got together on a. backyard barbecue. The Milt McHale family enjoyed dinner with friends in McCullom Lake. Steve Simpson has gone to Camp Salesian in Cedar Lake, Ind.. for two weeks. Tuesday Matt Mersch's parents from Chicago came out to spend the day bringing the food with them so Jean really enjoyed the day eating someone else's cooking. Ahhhhhh! The Melvin Iverson family went to Oregon Sunday, to the state park there. The children especially enjoyed feeding baby bottles of milk to the lambs and corn to the many types of deer wandering about. We were surprised to see turready for the Hospital Notes Young' Mike Coughlin is home from the hospital after the removal of his tonsils and adenoids. He is on the speedy road of recovery already again enjoying potato chips and pretzels! Charlotte Urban is home from the hospital. We hope she HOT DAYS AHEAD! JULY 15 Inez Young The Griswold Lake Athletic club will hold its first breakfast of the season next Sunday, July 15, from 8 a.m. till noon. The location has been changed and it will be held at Ravens farm on Griswold Lake road about half way between Rts. 176 and 120. This road is also called River Road. It's the Athletic club who sponsors our Boy Scouts and keys and peacocks also running freely. John and Pat "Coughlin attended a wedding in Park Ridge where they got - together with The whole family. The Robert Mitchell family attended a big family picnic July 4 in Big Foot State Park in Wisconsin. The Harry Brodin family went to the amphitheater to see the circus. Marge tells me she enjoyed it just as much as the kids! also "makes arrangements far- Santa Claus to make a personal visit to our area to present each girl and boy with a gift. Breakfast outdoors always tastes so good and these boys are such excellent chefs. All you can eat and no dishes. How about that gals?!? Sound good? It is! Be sure to be at Ravens farm Sunday. Distinguished Weekend Guest Yoshimasa Nishi from Japan visited an American home tor the first time when he was a guest at the home of Victor and Jimmie Justes on June 29, M0, July 1 and 2. Mr. Nishi, who has been in the states since April 15, represents a Japanese aircraft factory. At present he is working v4th Victor in Chicago, and will be returning to Japan in about 2 weeks. -* The food, homes and our standard of living made a real impression on him, and he was very impressed with the opportunities afforded our children and their zest for living. His weekend here gave him many ideas for his home which he plans to build when he return^ lo Japan. Because of his visit here at the Justes home in Holiday Hills and to our beach, he will take home many compliments for and about Americans. No HHPOA Meetings During Summer Because of all the extra activities during the months of July and August there will be no general membership meetings of the Holiday Hills Property Owners association until September. An additional warning has been given about safety at our beaches. This is particularly important in view of the recent drowning in our lake. Be sure that you and all your guests carefully read the signs at our beaches and then go on and enjoy yourselves. Take In Circus Roy Breede and Wayne Wemken spent a very enjoyable day recently when their moms, Gerry Breede and Bernie Wemken, took them to downtown Chicago to see the Circus. They were seated so that they could almost reach out and touch the animals. To complete the day and make it extra nice for the moms they all had lunch downtown. Legion Lancers Take Trophy Matthew Justes plays the drums for the Legion Lancers of Wauconda American Legion. O n S u n d a y , J u l y 1 , t h e y marched in the Mundelein days parade and took first place in the competition for 'B' class drum and bugle corps. This is their second trophy and they're hoping for a few more. They have a busy schedule for the month of July. Birthday Greetings Belated birthday greetings to Joan Schroeder. A happy sixth birthday to Kenny Boettcher on July 7 and many happy returns to Marge Connell on July 16. The shortest recorded reign was that of King Jean I x>f France"" -- 130 hours. Women of the Moose Chapter 1348 of McHenry held their regular meeting Tuesday, July 3. The meeting was called to order by our new senior regent, Alyce Kowal. Haz£l Struwe, college of regent officer, was chairman for the evening and her committee included college of regent Presentation Officer Ann Rodenkirch and Mable Thomas, College of Regent Officer. Mable Thomas received her red tassel. Hazel Struwe was presented her gift from the chapter for becoming a member in the College of Regents. Refreshments were served by Hazel and her committee. Next regular meeting will be July 17 at 8:30 p.m. The time has been -changed to 8 p.m. starting the thirty-first of July. Please try to come to our next meeting and meet our new officers. I forgot to mention in my last article that Edna O'Donr nel and Marcella Strossner were pro-tem guides for our Senior Regent, Alyce Kowal, who was installed recently. The Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 691,. will be' host to fifty-five children of the drum and bugle corps of Aurora. They will participate in the McHenry Fiesta Day parade and then come to our Moose home to be served dinner.
