A Thursday, July 19; 1962 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Page Ninfcieen Sunnyside Estates STEVE MAJOR. MARGARET OLK PLAN TO MARRY . Joan Wakzynsd - 885-8105 ™ The soft peal of wedding bells can be heard in the distance around the Major residence. Lorraine and Steve Major are proud to announce the engagement of their son, Steve, Jr., to Margaret Oik of Holiday Hills. Steve presented his future bride with an engagement ring on Saturday, July 7. We would like to take -A. this opportunity to extend to ® these young folks our heartiest congratulations. Comin* and Goin' The Janicki household had i the pleasure of a visit from . Grandma for two weeks recently. Alice's mother, Mrs. Huldah Krans, enjoyed her visit with the family and hopes to return again soon. ^ The Janicki family also attended a wedding in the family recently. Their niece, Nancy LesChner, became the bride of Ronald Clesoji in a beautiful "ceremony that took place in Evanston. Three other nieces from Cape Girardeau, Mo., who also attended the wedding, returned home with the Janickls to spend the night; they were Judy, Mary Frances and Bar- £ bara Stiemle. The following day their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stiemle along with another aunt and uncle, Harriet and Frank Kuczek of Rolling Meadows, and their two children, drove out to pick up the girls. The mother of the bride, Mrs. Sally Leachner, accompanied them from Evanston for the drive. If Partying The occasion was the birthday of Mike Tillich, Sr., of Mayfair Drive. His wife, Rose, gave a birthday celebration in his honor the day before with the following guests: Mike's mother, Mrs. Tillich of Antioch; Rose's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Raiser of Chicago; her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kaiser of Mendota, 111.; W Clarice Kenney and her two children, also of Mendota; Rose's niece. Mrs. Sharon Wolhert and her son of McHenry; and Marge and Pam DeFrancisco of our lown locale, who I'm told baked the birthday cake. The next evening Mike's brother c and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Tillich, and children of Mattson came out to extend their best wishes. Wee One Former residents, whom most of us know, were blessed with another wee one last Monday, July 9. Dottie and Hugh Hoyle, (Marge Palmer's sister) became the parents of a darling 5 lb., 8 oz. baby girl at 130 p.m. at McHenry hospital. Liltle Barbara Jane, as ^ she will be called, will be welw comed home by brothers and sisters, Joey, Mary Beth, Timmy a n d Michael. Grandma Giannini is holding down the fort at home until Mommy brings the new baby home. Travellers Marge and Louis DeFrancisco and daughter, Pam, spent a three-day weekend recently taking a trip to Union Lake, V Mich., where they visited Marge's sister and husband, Edna and Rex Cleal, and her niece and husband. Sharon and Lenny Prv.ionski, and their new baby son, Jeffery. While there Marge also got to visit some of her girl friends, one of whom also has a new baby boy. Louie got the chance to go fishing, and althongh they were told the fish weren't biting too good, he caught five nice size bass. If that's not biting, imagine what your catch would be if 'they were, Louie. Partying Our daughter, Judy, attended a pa jama party last Friday at the home of Lorraine and Norbert Hiller in celebration of daughter, Diane's birthday. Diane and her six guests had a grand time staying up at night playing games, eating, talking, etc. and w$rp out at five in the morning to watch Norb bring in the cows for milking. After breakfast Lorraine drove all the girls home to try and catch up on the sleep they lost. Maiy Anderson of Grandview Drive was another of the six guests who had a night of fun. Stan and I were pleased to have our friends, Mr. and Mrs. John- Stuhlman of Chicago, as overnight guests last weekend, and it's a g^ood, thing I didn't courit on Judy/for too much help,. 'cause she was tired. Saturday evening we had additional guests; Joanne and Lee Lewis and their five children of Melrose Park came for a visit. Joanne and I went to school together and we don't get to see each other too often so we did a lot of catching up on the news. Sorry to Learn We were very s^rry to learn that John Ramsauer underwent surgery last week, but we're told that if all goes well he should be home by the time you read this. Certainly hope he'll be back on his feet in no time. I'm also sorry to report that my Mom, Laura Holtfodt, took a bad fall last week. We were afraid that she had broken her hip, but after an x-ray she was allowed to return home and re cuperate there, for which she was grateful. There were two pretty sick young fellows last week. Little Tommy Hanahan and Marty Palmer were feeling mighty low for a week or so, and this is no time of the year to be sick. Missing Could it be that anyone would be so low as to steal (remove) three little artificial baby ducks from someone's front lawn? I'm afraid it's so. The same people have had driveway reflectors vanish as well. Sounds like stealing to me, and how people can sleep with this on their conscience is beyond me. Guests Lorraine and Steve Major have their niece, Francine Geisler of Oak Lawn, staying with them for two weeks. She and Janice Major are about the same age, so the girls are really enjoying it. If all goes as planned Janice will go home with Francine for two weeks. We, again, had unexpected but welcome guests. Bernice and Rich Grabinski and their two sons, Tommy and Jimmy, of Chicago and Bernice's mother, Mrs. Angel, of Park Ridge, came out to spend the day with us. We did a lot of catching up on the news with them, too, since it's been just ages since we saw them last. The only girl from our subdivision who attended was Mary Jane Lakowske. Betty Lakowske and Alice Bieschke were counselors at Day Camp, with Alice heading Unit No. 6, better known as Sugar . and Spice. The camp consisted of eight units, and Alice's unit decided to major in the AdvenUirer's Badge. The girls did a Tine job and this rould not have been accomplished without the use of tne tent loaned to the girls by Helen and Sol Kobus. Signing Off Thanks to a nice number of ohone calls the column seemed to go like a breeze this week, and hope you will all be nice enough to call Marge Palmer next week with your news. Loren is now stationed MONTHLY MEETING | at the nike site in Arlington Annette Sefamlt Heights The regular monthly meeting of the Lakemoor village board was unable to stand in session last Thursday due to a failure to have a quorum. Summer vacations were given as the reason for the absence of some of the trustees. A tentative date of Friday, July 20, was announced. Severed residents turned out for the meeting. Jerry The Crow Have you met Jerry the Crow? He was a new little baby bird when the folks at Pokett's house picked him up out of the mud and mire and nursed him back to health. He feels a little out of place though. His own kind do not recognize him and he is so human and knows only human beings as his friends. With a friendly call to him, he lites on your arm and can be fed.' Neighbors have just about worn out their shovels hunting for worms for him. He's the most friendly pet in town. We do hope that the children will be careful when s handling Jerry so as not to ruffle his feathers. We're Proud Of Alyce Kowal who is now senior regent of the Moose lodge in McHenry. Alyce was one of our early residents herein the village and we all want her to know how very proud we are of her work. Good luck, Alyce. From the twentyninth of June to the fifth of July, Marge's mom and dad came down from Eau Claire, Wis., to spend their vacation with the children. During the week, Ted's friends from Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fay, dropped out. They sure had a time this past week. Seems that they both won a duck at the Legion carnival and had all sorts of fun with their' new pets. Rick named his Ugly, and Tom dubbed his Stinky. Well everything went along well until they had to leave the pets for a day. While they were gone, the rains came. They returned home to find that both little fluffs were dead. Feeling very badly, they proceeded to hold graveside rites in Tommy's back yard. Barb Para and Fluffy, the Para dog, looked wistfully on as Jim Cassell did the honors. Better luck next year, kids! Alfred Seyfferth P©e.s Old timers as well as new friends were saddened last week to learn of the passing of Alfred Seyfferth. He was 81 years old and one of the early settlers of what is now Lilymoor. Services were held on Saturday in Chicago. Burial was in the Waldheim cemetery. Mr. Seyfferth was a Mason. Friends here in Lakemoor extend their heart-felt sympathy to Le Orra and the children. Alfred and Le Orra left the area to make their home in Texas. Last December, he suffered a stroke which necessitated the move back to Tee Hirano's home in Villa Park. He and Le Orra have been with Tee since they returned. my information and Sadie says she's really had it" for the past "five weeks. She was sent to the Woodstock hospital for an x-ray and it is believed that she does have gall bladder trouble. Sadie's husband, Harold, will be going in to have his heart checked pretty soon. We wish Sadie a quick recovery and hope that her pain is soon eased. He's gone , fishing, with his wife, Lillian, this time in Alabama where he's vacationing at his folks home with his family. We understand that Red's father has been quite ill and they frequently make a trip out to make sure he's coming along all right. They returned on July 15. For this is his first Cadillac--and its arrival in his driveway has occasioned almost as much excitement in the neighborhood as it has in his own home. But if you appreciate his good fortune--then envy him also his wisdom. For he has, without ai)y question, made the move to the "car of cars" fit the ideal moment. He discovered, for instance, that the Cadillac Coupe is now actually priced beU^ eleven models of other less desirable motor cars. Furthermore, he found that most of the features he wanted--power steering, power braking and //'tk'civay/ Hydra-Matic drive--were included in the initial price of a Cadillac. And he has already had a hint of other Cadillac economies. The gasoline gauge has barely budged off the "full" mark and the car moves so quietly that he knows he can drive it with pride for years to come. Yet, he'll be in for a happy surprise when the time does come to sell it. For a Cadillac can be expected to retain a greater portion of its value than any other motor car. So if you have a Cadillac in your heart--then let us show you how quickly and easily we could put one in your driveway. Come see us at any time.
