Sixteen THE PLA1NDEALCR 0 SunnysiiU Est ales FIEDLER BOY WINS TROPHY IN N3.I. SAFARI Marge Palmer 885-1680 A new champion is now "King" in the John Feidier home on Indian Ridge Drive. Last Sunday, John Feidier, Jr., 12 years old, went with his family to compete in the Safari competition for the Northern Illini Bowman's club. He and Jim Farley, who went along, competed in the junior branch, and John, Sr., in the men's division. Young John, after three hours of stiff competition, placed third which entitled him to a beautiful trophy. Since ail the targets represented animals the trophy has a statue Of a Giraffe -- and on the gold pjaque in engraved "N.B.I. -- Safari -- 1962". This is a once a year event and takes place in McHenry with competition from clubs in all parts of the state. He qualified for third place with 430 points. There Were twenty-eight targets -- animals represented were from lizards to elephants. Shots vyere from 10 to 65 yards. Guests Lorraine and-, Steve Major again had out yof town guests last weekend. (Steve's nephew and his wjfe, Mr. and Mrs. George Andreasen, and sons, Marty, Raymond and Russell, came from Indiana. A good time was had by all which is a usual event in the Major household. At the Frank Mann home on Grandview Drive, a welcome visitor for a week and a half was Frank's mother, Mrs. Jessie Mann, from Gillespie, HI. Then Mary Mann took off for four days to, visit her home in Ferndale, Mich., and friends in Hazel Park, Mich. From there she went to Warren, Mich., and returned home. The population has increased so much since she lived there that she had a difficult time trying to see everyone she had hoped to see. Quite a bit of travelling in four days, Mary. Mrs. Marcella Miller had two welcome guests spend two weeks with her. She first visited her daughter, Betty Lockwood, in Mount Clemens. Mich., and then. Betty and Stephen, Marcella's grandson, came back with her for this happy visit. It is always a grand experience to see Betty again as she is loved by all who know her. As usual while here she was constantly busy doing things to make her mother more comfortable. Velma and A1 Stephens were happily surprised by a visit from her grandniece, Sheron Lynn Beard, and her husband, David. David had just completed his two weeks tour of duty in the Army Reserves at Fort Knox, Ky., and were on their way home to Medina,- Ohio, with a couple days to spare. Also enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon with dear friends, Helen and Gail Swartz, who came out from Chicago Tuesday afternoon.: Busy Vacation The regular reporter, Joan Walczynski, ht*r husband, Statn, and their children, Judy, Stan, 3f., Billy, Mary and Paul, -parted their vacation with a beautiful rainy weekend. He extended his best wishes to all ikere. Monday evening they playw| Yatz with Catherine and Rich* ard Dehn. ^hil® there Catherine's brother, Harry May, invited them to the ball game the following evening. On Tuesday they brought Stan's nieces, Sue and Peg Zmudzki, from Chicago to baby sit whfle they went to Milwaukee to see Chuck Hiller, a Johnsburg boy, play with the San Francisco Giahts against the Milwaukee Brakes. The Giants won 4 to 3. In the last half of the 9th inning Chuck was responsible for a beautiful double play enabling them to win by the above score. • They went to the game with Catherine and Richard Dehn, Estelle and Willy Xlapperfch, and Fran and John Weingart. They waited to talk with Chuck after the game and got his autograph for the children. On the way home Joan and Stan and Catherine and Richard stopped off for a midnight supper. A grand time was had by all, as was evidenced by Hot Rodders Again we have the problem of " s p e e d e r s " on May f a i r drive.
