Emma Reed and daughter, Theresa Van Fleet and chili dren, Timmy and Ann, have just returned from a trip through Colorado. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sawyer and children, Tori, Lynn and Tommy, and Mr. and Mrs. Tim Harris and son, David, of Jacksonville, Fla., spent several days in the home of their aunt, Mrs. James Doherty. They also called on many other relatives in this vicinity while here. Mrs. C. E. Brents of Lebanon, Ky., and Miss Mary Margaret Fenwick of Frankfort, Ky., have returned to their homes after a week's visit in the home of their brother, Thomas Fenwick, and family. Other recent guests in the Fenwick home were Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Timme and daughter, Beth, of Park Ridge. John and Emma Reed spent a few days recently at the Wisconsin Dells. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adams and Miss Kathryn Hudson left for their homes in Kansas City, Mo., Saturday, after spending the week with their aunt, Mrs. F. G. Schreiner. Mrs. Sophie Kosti, who spent the past several weeks here returned to Chuolota, Fla., Monday. Mr. and Mrs. G. Walinder have returned from a week's vacation in the home of their daughter, Mrs. Robert Belzer, and family formerly ,of Rockford but now of Eastgate Estates, South Bend, Ind. They also visited in the home of Mrs. Walinder's brother, William J. Sheridan, while there. Mr. Sheridan is a scout for the Philadelphia Athletic baseball team. Mrs. Dorothy Hartmann of Riverside Park, McHenry, is visiting her son, Captain Donald Hartman, and family in Seattle, Wash., where he is stationed at the U. S. Army Alaska Communications System headquarters. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Claypool and sons have returned from a vacation in Minnesota. Of interest to many local folks was a write up in "The Oserver", Rockford diocesan paper, of July 13 which tells of a reunion of Mrs. Lowell Nye of Harvard and her ten brothers and four sisters. Members of the Haines family came from points in Minnesota, Louisana, Oregon, Wisconsin and Illinois for their first get-together in 44 years. The occasion was the celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of a brother, Rev. Arthur Haines, S.V.D., which took place at Our L&dy of Perpetual Help at Arcadia, Wis. The Nye family is well known here where Lowell Nye, now editor of the Harvard Herald, was bom and raised. John Reed had a surprise visit this past week from his sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. William Besser, who made the trip here from Brisbane, N. Dakota. .Mr. and Mrs. John Gates were McHenry visitors last week. About three years ago the Gates family, including their three sons, John, Bob and Tom, moved to Warner Robins, Ga. The boys will be remembered as great athletes at McHenry high school. John will be entering his junior year in Auburn University at Auburn, Ala., this fall and his brother, Bob, has completed his first year at the same university. Tom will be a senior at Warner Robins high school. Mrs. A. D. Foley returned Thursday from a three weeks vacation in which she was accompanied by her brother, Howard Phalin, and wife, of Winnetka, and the latter's sister, Mrs. Mildred Cue, of Benton Harbor, Mich. From here they went to Regina and motored across the state of Canada visiting Lake Louise and Banff. Then on to Seattle where they spent some time at the Fair. On their return trip stops were made at Yellowstone Park, the Black Hills, where they visited Rushmore Memorial and Spearfish, S. D., where they saw the Passion Play. Mrs. George E. Johnson of Skokie was a guest in the George H. Johnson home Wednesday and attended the garden club party held at the Herbert Engdahl home. Joseph Beranek and Family 7-26-62 DIVORCE GRANTED Lois Deschauer of Wonder Lake was granted a divorce from Jack Deschauer in circuit court last week. * OBITUARIES GRETA MAE WOODY Mrs. Greta Mae Woody, 47, wife of Harold Woody, manager of Westward Way farms on the Crystal Lake blacktop, died Friday night, July 27, in Passavant hospital, Chicago, where she had been confined for only two weeks. Death ended an illness of only six weeks. The Woodys had resided in this community for the past two years. Survivors are her husband, Harold, and two sons, Sam and Harold, both at home. The body was removed to the Mast and Pickett chapel at Greentown, Ind., with services Tuesday at 2 o'clock from the C o n g r e g a t i o n a 1 C h r i s t i a n church. Mr. Bowen died Sunday morning, July 22, in McHenry hospital after being taken ill while visiting in Oeffling subdivision. An investigation - was eonducted by Coroner Theron Ehorn. PETER J. MILLER A funeral Mass was sung Monday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church, McHenry, for Peter J. Miller, 78, of rural Spring Grove, who died July 19 in Memorial hospital, Woodstock. where he had been confined for twelve days. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Miller was born March 5, 1884, in McHenry, son of Mathias and Mary Miller. He returned to this are^ six years ago from Oklahoma. The deceased was a butcher by occupation. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert Green of McHenry; three sons, Albert of Spring Grove, Arthur of Escondido, Calif., and Elmer of New Lenox; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Frances Kaelin, of McHenry. The body rested at the Ehorn funeral home in Richmond until the time of last rites. ANNA JOKNIS Mrs. Anna Joknis, 70, who lived with her daughter, Mrs. Ricliard Jager, at 3210 W. Rt. 120, died Wednesday evening, July 18. She had been in poor health about five years. Bom March 19, 1892, In Lithuania Mrs. Joknis came to live in McHenry from North Chicago after the death of her husband, Charles, in 1948L Besides her daughter, Bertha Jager, she is survived by another daughter, Mary Ornatek, North Chicago, and a son. Anton, of Riverside, Calif., and $even grandchildren. The body rested at the Peter M.
