They took their three grandsons, David, Scott alftd Brian. - Robert and Marilyn VanZewrn and their two sons, Mark and Kirk, spent last Saturday in Chicago for a day of enjoyment. The Raymond Cunninghams were most happy to have a few friends from the city drop in last Sunday to pay them a visit. Aug. 11. Leo Orlowski spent the day in Chicago on business. He visited some old friends and former neighbors. While In Chicago, Lil was happy to have the comnany of Hattie Muselcs of Chicago who called on Lil and Marie Schlick. Aug. 19 Leo and Lil quietly celebrated 28 years of wedded bliss. The Richard Sabielnys have been real busy with loads of company. Their two nieces, Mary Kumbier of Woodruff, Wis., anl Kathy Carberry of Chicago spent two weeks with Mary Lou and Dick. Mary Lou took Kathy back to Chicago last Thursday and spent the day with her aunt and uncle. Mary Lou's parents, the Henry Peters of Tomahawk, Wis., arrived to spend two weeks with the Sabielnys. The same day Mary Lou's aunt, Mae SoWadski of Summit, arrived to spend the weekend with the family. Ed and Virginia Thoreft and family spent last week in beautiful Lake Kentucky. They enjoyed living in a cottage and seeing all the sights. Their son, Craig, was sorry to have had to miss the trip because of work. Chuck and Vi Schuble were pleased to have Vi's brothei and family, Tom and Pat O'- Dowd, and son, Tommy, of Chicago spend Sunday, Aug. 12 with the Schubles. The Robert Jenkins had a wonderful vacation this year. They went to Detroit, Mich., Canada, Iowa and they traveled over 5,000 miles seeing many points of interest. It was their first vacation in years. Ringwood SOFTBALL TEAM AWARDED FIRST PLACE TROPHY Lor Brennaa - W.L. 2045 Would Like You To Meet Chuck and Viola Schuble of 108 Lake street. Chuck and Vi were both born and raised on the south side of Chicago. C?huck attended Tilden high and Vi attended St. Gabriel high. They are members of St Peter's parish in Spring Grove. ^The Schubles have two lovely daughters, Maureen and Elaine. Both girls attended the Johntborg school and Maureen is a senior at the McHenry high, Elaine is a sophomore at McHenry high. The Schubles moved to the Highlands nine years ago this July. Hold Play T h e H i l l t o p P l a y e r s o f B r o a d w a y a n d Ann a b e l l e streets will hold a play, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, in the James Malek basement the last Wednesday of August. The play will be in costume and with scenery. There will be a slight charge of admission and every one will receive a free bag of popcorn. The players will be eight years of age and under. Aug. 11, James Malek took his wife, Jane, out on the town in honor of Jane's birthday. They enjoyed an evening ot dinner and dancing. Aug. 12, the James Maleks attended their nephew's christening in Des Plaines. He was named Christopher and is the son of Jane's brother. The Nemecs had the family present for the big affair. Our Ringwood Softball team ended up in first place in the Genoa City, Wis., League this year. The boys played good ball all season with only two losses all year. The play-offs for another trophy will be played sometime next week. The trophy is on display at the variety store in town if anyone would like to'see what our local boys worked so hard for. Congratulations are in ord e r a n d g o o d l u c k t o t h e Ringwood Team next week for the play-offs. Diana Murgatroyd and family were most happy to have Diana's mother, Mrs. LaBell. «kJ her brother, Christian Brother LaBell. spent a few days with the Murgatroyds, Charlie took the Christian Brother golfing last week. Charlene Jenkins of Chicago, the niece of Bob and Dorothy Jenkins, spent a few days with Diana Jenkins last week. Belated birthday wishes to Attention Bowlers There are openings for Women bowlers on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. at the Johnsburg Lanes. Anyone interested can contact the bowling alley or Nancy Piatt at 385-1762. Johnsburg School T h e d o o r s o f J o h n s b u r g school will open wide on Sept. 4. At this time all book bills are due and parents are asked to accompany their kindergarten youngsters for that day only. The P.T.A. will be selling school supplies and anyone wishing to join the P.T.A. then may do so. All kindergarten and fifth grade students must have physicals. An executive P.T.A. meeting was held last Wednesday at the home of Harold Wiley. Plans for the coming year are nearing completion. Happy birthday to Maryellen Mclnerney who will be It on Aug. 21. A family reunion was held at the home of Jerry and Helen Kolb in honor of Helen's brother. Many relatives and friends were on hand for the celebration. A group of happy youngsters had their first train ride last Sunday and also had the honor of having Mr. Haddock as their conductor. Mark and Susie Emmerich, Kathy and Tommy Ferris, Shirley Mason, Robby, Jon and Susie Conway along with Lee Conway took the trip from Round Lakfe to Fox Lake. Happy birthday to Renee Janquart who celebrates her twelfth birthday on Aug. 26. Pat and Ron Jackson and family spent last Sunday In Wauconda visiting Ron's folks and celebrating brithdays. The Don Morin family celebrated four birthdays in August. Don, on Aug. 1, Tom was 6 on Aug. 8, Larry was 2 on Aug. 16 and Uncle Russ on Aug. 24. A big celebration was held for all on Aug. 18. Mr. and Mrs. Schwartz from Milwaukee and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Steinman from Delavan were visiting the Janquarts last Sunday. Picnic Aug. 26 Hey kiddies don't forget the nicnic sponsored by the Pistakee Regular Democratic organization on Aug. 26. It will be at the community center and everything is free for kiddies up to 12 years of age. Ringwood Methodist Church Holds Dinner And Country Store This weekend, Aug. 25 iv the day to keep open for a family outing for dinner. The Ringwood church is having a roast beef dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Also, come a little early and visit their "old-fashioned cpuntry Store" on the church lawn. There will be many baked goodies and fresh garden produce as well as canned goods. The store will be opened from 2 p.m. until ?? They are still accepting all donations for anything to be sold in the country store. The Saddles Have California Visitor Miss Christine Shadle of Palos Verdes, Calif, is spending a week visiting with her grandparents the "Wolf Shadles. She arrived by plane and will return the same way. An old hand at air travel, she travels alone and loves it. She is also visiting with her grandparents from out of town. Mr. and Mrs. Wolf Shadle are enjoying their grandaughter's visit very inuch. Card Club The Card club held a dessert luncheon at the home of Gerry Kunz last Wednesday. Flora Carr was high, with Bertha Peet, low. Their next meeting will be at the Bertha Peet home in Richmond on Sept. 5. School Days Are Coming The school bell will be ringing for our youngsters again, and soon. On Aug. 31, which is on a Friday, the little ones and big , ones will be wandering up the walks to report for a half day of school for registration. School will start on Sept. 4 at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31 is the day for registering and taking care of books, etc. We will be meeting a new teacher this year, Mr. Schmichaels will be teaching fifth, sixth and seventh. Mrs. Mecklenburg will have charge of the third Many Busy Hands Make Fast Work Last weekend found many busy painters working on the church. A paint job goes fast with so many working at one time. They were doing a very nice job and can be proud of their handiwork. Hogans Return From VHCHtlonR Mr. and Mrs. John Hotfan returned last ThurKdliy evening from their vacation trip. They took Pat to the Illinois State Fair, then motored up into Wisconsin visiting some relatives along the way.
