Minstrel Group "Fun Days" This coming Saturday and Sunday are "Fun Days" which the minstrel group have been planning. They will be held at the east beach. There will be games, pony rides for the kiddies and a gala weekend of entertainment for the entire family. On Sunday, Sept. 16, from 8 to 1 p.m.. the committee will be serving breakfast with plenty of those mouth watering pancakes, sausages, and bacon and hot coffee. For the 'teen-agers there will be a twist dance. So be sure to keep these days open and come out and have yourself and your family some fun. Attends Christening Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lanz attended the christening of their first grandson, James Brian Lanz, in Chicago on Sunday, Sept. 9. There was a buffet lunch served after the christening. 25th Anniversary Party Mr. and Mrs. Tony Piaseeki of 2002 N. Sunset avenue celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary with a party on Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Pary house in Chicago. There were ninty-five guests attending, including Mr. and Mrs. Sam Parisi and daughter, Margaret, from McHenry and Mr. and Mrs. Kraskiewicz and son, Michael, from Lakeland Park. Results, on All-Star Game Our All-Star team took a beating last Sunday when they played the All-Star team of Niles. The final score was 16 to 1. Better luck next time boys. He is going to become a priest. All the family and relatives were in attendance. Attend Wedding Harry and Esther Cygan attended the wedding of Harry's cousin, Judy Strzalka, to Mr. James Ranee, Jr., in Chicago last Saturday evening. Sympathy Our deepest sympathy to the Krater family on the recent loss of Bill's dad. Philip Krater,- of Villa Park. Birthday Dinner Party Bill and Ann Herzog were hosts to a dinner party last Sunday, Sept. 9. Their guests were Bill's daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Al. Marberg, and family and Bill's son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Herzog. The occasion was to celebrate belated birthdays of Bill's daughter and son. Ann prepared a delicious feast. Vacationers Marv and Shirley George and family just get back from a three-week vacation in Florida. They came back by way of Washington, D. C.. where they spent a day sight-seeing, then on to Baltimore, Md.. where they spent a day with friends. All in all, they had a most enjoyable three weeks. Labor Day Cook-Outs A cook-out was held at the Hauntras home on Labor day for a1 few of their neighbors. Those contributing a dish were the Herzogs, Lezaks, Kraskiewicz and Delia Julian. Later Delia's son and family from Minnesota joined them. Shuffleboard was played and prizes were awarded. Also, there was a little contest as to who would be the one to eat the most during the day and that trophy went to Bill Herzog, who did most of the nibbling. A Labor day stay-at-home picnic was given in the Edward Schultz garage on Rogers avenue. Guests attending this most enjoyable picnic were Mr. and Mrs. J. Schwetz, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schwetz and daughter, Rhonda, Mr. and Mrs. H. Larson (who thought up and arranged this picnic) Mr. aill Mrs. Louis Rehl>erg and daughters. Patsy, Dorothy and Doris. Grandma Pearl Tomlin and Eddie Schultz, Jr., and his friend, Linda Adams. Late comers were Gordon and Pat Rehberg, who were just returning from a weekend camping trip in Wisconsin. A smorgasbord style lunch and supper was made possible by all families hringing their own favorite dishes and combining all in a beautiful array of some very tasty dishes. Joe Schwetz was chief cook with his own recipe for French fried Italian sausage. Mr. Larson was heartbroken when he lost his title of champion checker player to Mrs. Evelyn Rehberg, who really de-throned him in two very cleverly played games. At 9 p.m. everyone headed home to their bicarbonate of soda and bed and sweet dreams of their Halloween party-to-be. Visiting and Visitors Len and Vickey Bottari had a visit Saturday from Vickey's mom and dad. Mr. and Mrs. L. Mazzoni of Chicago and Vickey's brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. L. The Grizelys spent Saturday in Skokie, attending a birthday party for their nephew, Gilbert Hawkins, who was 6 years old. Owens had as their Labor day weekend guest, Miss Lois Jaekel, Mrs. Owen's sister from Chicago. The Don Gerstad family went to Wasco, 111., to visit with her brother's family, R. M. Birkenbine, on Sunday. Visiting David and Mimi Ladd last Saturday were Mimi's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Grow and family, Billy John and Stepanie. They stopped by on thfcir way from their home in Wadsworth, Ohio, to take John to Marquette university in Milwaukee, where he is a freshmen, and Stephanie to Alverno college, also in Milwaukee, where she is taking a nursing course. The Meurers went to Barb's sister's new house in Wheaton Sunday for a birthday supper for one of the children. Later in the evening a surprise housewarmirig party was held, with twenty-four people attending. Visiting the Max Koch home for a while is Max's mother from Maywood. She came out expecting to take care of Shirley's children while she was in the hospital but due to a bad cold Shirley's operation was postponed again. The little red car sitting in Lyda and Bill Radisch's driveway doesn't belong to them but to their son-in-law, Charles Lezow. He is staying® with them until he can find a house for his family. Shelton recently retired from the naval service after completing twenty years of service. CWO-2 Shelton entered the Navy in Pontiac, Mich., afmanship. Mr. Shelton wears both the silver delphins of the submarine service and the combat war patrol pin with three stars. He also holds the Asiatic Pacific theatre medal with five stars, the China service medal, World War II victory medal, the Philippine libera- , tion medal, American theatre medal, National Defense medal, Good Conduct medal, and ' !
