The Altar and Rosary modality presented him with a check and the Catholic Woknen's bridge club gave him the funds to purchase a ferrioli -- which is the combination cassock and cape that must be worn by the clergy at all times when travelling on the streets of Rome. Refreshments were served to all the guests and the piece de ^resistance of the food table Vivas the beautiful cake baked by Mrs. John Rice. The cake was a Jarge two layer sheet cake decorated with a replica of a jet plane and a white cross at one corner of it with the words "Rome" written on the cross. Mexico City Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Fu- ^ entes of White Oaks Bay returned a few weeks ago from a visit with Mr. Fuentes' family in Mexico City. The weather was very hot during the drive through Texas and Oklahoma but the weather in Mexico City was delightful and always on the cool side. ^ While not visiting with relatives and friends, the Fuentes "walked" the town, visited the various Mexican restaurants and cafes and went to the various native markets where they bought typical Mexican baskets, carved wooden masks, pictures, rebosas, and of course, they brought back some Mexican food for the "annual M e x ijc a n dinner" .^which Ferdinand gives at the Lake (Ferd does all the cotikingj. They also attended the Mexican Folklorico Ballet at the Palace of Fine Arts, which is sponsored by the Mexican government. The ballet was so delightful that when the Ballet appeared in Chicago the early part of September, they attended it again. Sweet 16 Party A group of seventy-f i v e friends and relatives gathered at Mathews hall on Sunday night to surprise Walterine £ Rochowicz on the occasion of her sixteenth birthday. A buffet supper was served with Med chicken and the fixin's and the gang even had their own coke machine to draw their cokes from, A four piece combo from Norridge Park played for the dancers. What with being a bridesmaid on Saturday, attending a reception on Saturday night, a football game on Sunday and her party Sunday night I'd say Walterine had a full weekend and a happy one. Rome Makers Craft Day The Ringwood-Wonder Lake Home Makers unit is having a craft day at the home of Mrs. Dorothy McEachren on Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. If you are interested in learning crafts or hobbys contact Mrs. Mardell Swanson at 385-2426. This will be an all day affair and guests are to bring a sack lunch. Members will have displays of crafts that will be taught at a later date. Th# regular monthly meeting will be at the home of Mrs. H. Locker on Oct. 2. The lesson for that day will be emergency meals for guests given by Mrs. Katherine Neumann, home advisor. Wonder Woods Ladies Meet The Wonder Woods Ladies group will have their first meeting of the season at the home of Mary Sangren on Tuesday, Sept. 25. This meeting is for all the ladies of Wonder Woods. There will be an election of officers and plans made for the coming season. Refreshments will be served. ^ Engagement Announced Best wishes go to Keith Noble of Wonder Woods and Peggy Clardy of Waukegan who have announced their engagement. Richard Wright, Pastor The church is resuming a full schedule of activities for the fall and winter months. Junior choir, Saturday, 10 to 11 a.m. Youth choir, Sunday, 5:15 to 6 p.m. Former Wonder Lakers Heard From Word has been received from Frank and Delia Cheney that their son, Dan, graduated from Stanford University this year with honors. He will go back this fall for his Masters Degree. Their older son, Lynn, is a jet pilot for the Navy and is at present on an eight month cruise on the carrier, U.S.S. Forrestal. The Cheneys live in East Palo Alto, Calif. They formerly lived in Shore Hills. DCCW Workshops at Marian Central Eleven workshops, to be presented morning and afternoon, are scheduled for the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Institute Sunday, Sept. 30, at Marian Central high school. Mr. Kimball, the Democratic candidate for representative in Congress from the new 12th district, is making his first general address in Mc- Henry township, ^.fter his talk, he has consented to answer qquestions from citizens in the audience. Mr. Kimball, who is running as a supporter of President Kennedy's program, with whom he is shown above, was a foreign service officer in southeast Asia and a lecturer on foreign policy for the Council on Foreign Relations. He is a resident of Deerfield and has been active in Lake county politics for several years. He was a Navy pilot and studied at Los Angeles city college, Loyola university law school and the Foreign Service Institute* He is married and has three children. Mr. Kimball is a guest of the Lakeland Park Regular Democratic organization, which declared the regular September meeting an open meeting so that all interested citizens in the McHenry area could listen to him and meet Mr. Kimball. The official visitor will be the grand recorder, Zola Kenney, from Mooseheart. Miss Kenney will talk on "Mooseheart Golden Anniversary in 1963." The refreshments for the evening were served by the publicity committee. Enrollment for the Loyal Order of the Moose was held on Sept. 9. At this time ten men joined the ranks of the Moose. The degree team came from Harvard to help with the enrollment. Following the close of the meeting the Women of the Moose served the food for the evening. Oct. 2 will be "Christmas in October" for the children at Mooseheart and the aged at Moosehaven. At this time members are asked to bring a gift. These gifts are then sent to their proper places to be given out at Christmas time. Any money donated is used for items to be sent also. This meeting is not only a lot of fun but also very worthwhile meeting because without gatherings such as our "Christmas in October," many of the children and aged would not be remembered at Christmas time. Post 491 Our i963 membership drive is now in full swing. The next r e g u l a r m o n t h l y m e e t i n g , which will be Oct. 8 at 7 p.m., will be a dinner meeting with turkey served.
