Kiwanis Club To Host Division 20 The McHenry Kiwanis club will be host to Division 20 for ladies' night. The event will be held at the Legion home on Thursday evening, Oct. 11, with members and wives cf the nine Kiwanis clubs in the division invited to attend. The Morgans have left this community to return tc their native Wales. It was seven years ago that Bonnie arrived in McHenry to become a bride. Her husband was originally from Wales, but has lived here for many years. Now, for. reasons of health, they have returned to their families but promise to keep many wonderful memories of friends here. The room was decorated with balloons and "serpentines," and everywhere were signs with the words, "Bon Voyage" and "Good Health". A huge cake decorated with a beautiful big boat was center piece on the serving table. All those present saw the Morgans depart with much regret,, for they had been among the-most popular couples in thelF community.^ It is hoped that, healtti permitting, they may sometime return for a visit. Trinidad Girl Wed In McHenry St. Patrick's Catholic church was the setting for a beautiful wedding on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 11 o'clock when Miss Pamela Elsa Gurley, daughter of Mrs. Carmen Gurley of Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies, became the bride of Cpl. Alfred Harold Miller of Marine Camp LeJeune, N. C., son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Miller of 3508 W. Washington street, McHenry. Rev. Fr. Edward C. Coakley officiated at the nuptial rite, for which the children's choir offered music. The altar was decorated for the occasion with bouquets of white glads. Given in marriage by Carl Meyer, uncle of the groom, Miss Gurley was charming in a floor length, embroidered Swiss organdy gown, cut on empire lines with bias folds, accentuated bust and hip line. The dress, which featured three-quarter length sleeves and a Peter Pan collar, was fashioned by her mother. A three-quarter length veil fell from a crown of white roses, and she carried white roses and mums. Sandra Miller, sister of the groom, acted as maid of honor, wearing a green organza dress overlaid with embroidered green leaves. Her tiara was of green, with pearls, and she carried yellow and white mums. The bridegroom was attired in his Marine blue uniform. Serving him as best man was Eugene Freund. The bride's mother was unable to attend. Mrs. Miller wore a black georgette chiffon dress with crystal accessories and a red carnation corsage. The wedding breakfast for twelve guests was held at the groom's home. Later, a garden reception was enjoyed on the lawn, with Japanese lanterns providing decorative lighting, and it was attended by seventy- five. The couple left on a short honeymoon trip into Wiscon- ! sin. Upon their return the groom will report to camp and the bride will remain with his parents. HUGE CROWD AT GOP OUTING IN CITY LASTWEEK Winter Schedule Of Meetings Discussed Before Membership After a lively game of hide and seek with the sun, members and guests of the McHenry Township Republican Women's club enjoyed an afternoon and evening last week, spent at the Charles Miller r e s i d e n c e i n E d g e b r o o k Heights. Republican committeemen of McHenry township assumed the role of chefs and hosts for the dinner. The gentlemen pre sented a menu featuring roast beef, baked potatoes, salads and dessert. Since most of the afternoon was spent outside, either boating, or play i n g cards, everyone had a hearty appetite. All of the ladies agreed that the chefs' skill was exceeded only by their graciousness. Dorothy Miller, township Club president, introduced all the committeemen, and also announced the winter meeting schedule. A ballot for selection of preferred Republican candidates for the Presidency in 1964 disclosed that Senator Barry Goldwater (R. Arizona), and Richard Nixon (Republican candidate for governor of California) were tied in popularity. Present Guests Special guests of the club were Robert Coulson. Republican candidate for the Illinois Senate, and Mrs. Ernest Derreberry, president of the Tri- County Republican club of Bocne, McHenry and Lake counties. She explained that membership in the club is open to all Republican men and women of the three counties. More than 700 women are expected to attend the institute at Woodstock's Marian Central high school Sunday, Sept. 30. A pre-institute dinner will be held, at the McHenry Country club at 6:30 Saturday, Sept. 29, when featured speaker will be Dr. Catherine Rockwood, head of the department of home economics at Northern Illinois university at De- Kalb.
