Gumm, an Illinois Agricultural association director since 1946 and vice-president since 1958, represented the statewide Farm Bureau. Wilbur H. "Bill" Tammeus, farm adviser from 1944 to 1956 and active in many facets of agriculture since his return from a two-year trip to India, was master of ceremonies for the fiftieth anniversary portion of the program. Henry Edgerton was master of ceremonies for the formal dedication. Edgerton is county secretary of the organization and wap in charge of all arrangements for the Farm Bureau Day observance. The Rev. Clarence F. Kerr, a Farm Bureau member for many years, gave the dedicatory prayer. Then Edge rt on handed Olbrich a pair of oversize scissors and this venerable agricultural architect stepped briskly to the ribbon, and with his back to the audience quickly snipped the wide red ner. In his dedicatory talk, Shuman warned the new farm law signed last week will cost 50 per cent more in taxpayers' money than did the disastrous, costly feed grain program. He said payments will be made to many more1 farmers who will qualify under the program. The law will push the price of corn down, he added, because the administration will be forced to dump surpluses -- and that will keep prices down.
