McHENRY WOMAN HEADS CEREBRAL PALSY CAMPAIGN Dorothy Miller, McHenry, County Cerebral Palsy associa t i o n p r e s i d e n t , t h i s week named Mrs. Ernest Harth of McHenry as county fund drive chairman and Mrs. Michael Stompanato, co-chairman. Mrs. Harth, in accepting the chairmanship, stated, "I am p a r t i c u l a r l y h o n o r e d to be chosen as this is one of the most worthy causes I know. Cerebral palsy has no favorites and can and does strike people from all walks of life, anywhere, anytim e." The tragic fact is that cerebral palsy strikes every 53 minutes somewhere in the nation. Mrs. Stompanato, her cochairman, stated, "This is o challenging assignment. We must provide an upgraded standard of service for an increasing number of cerebral palsied children. "For example! Mrs. Whiteside will teach craft work in the classroom at East school in Crystal Lake. Harold Morris went to "Little Grassy Camp" in Carbondale to investigate that community's summer program. The county group purchased and gave two wheelchairs to the handicapped children's class • room. Captain Wallace Webb of Barrington, an airline pilot took several children this past summer for airplane rides, and "Chuck" Miller of McHenry, arranged for most of the handicapped children to enjoy boat rides on the Fox river and Chain-O-Lakes. As national recognition of the fine work being done in McHenry county, Dr. Griesbach and Mrs. Dorothy Los.?r were appointed to serve on the United Cerebral Palsy board of Illinois. The county fund drive date has not been announced; however, to supply funds for immediate expenses, the parents' group of the handicapped are going to hold a fund raising "Family Night" on Oct. 28 in the Moose hall in Crystal Lake. All are invited to help this worthy cause and are urged to come out for an evening of fun bv County Chairman Dorothy Miller.
