Pag© Ten THE McHENRY PLAXNDEALER Ringwood ANNUAL TURKEY DINNER, BAZAAR AT CHURCH NOV. 10 Lor Brennavi - W.L. 2045 The Ring wood Methodist church is again holding its annual bazaar and turkey dinner OR Saturday, Nov. 10, in the church hall. The bazaar will be open at 2 p.m. featuring home made candies and hand made fancy work for your purchasing. The turkey dinner will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. This is a wonderful way to help a worthy cause while enjoying a delicious home cooked turkey dinner. Take your friends and neighbors along. Halloween Party The costume Halloween party held in the school rooms last Tuesday evening was a success with a large turnout of adults as well as the youngsters. Witches, hobo's and characters of all kinds marched around the rooms. Winners for the pre-schoolers were: Randy Russell and Narcv Preston. Taking prizes for first and second graders were: Pani Barker and Porky Bacon. For the third and fourth grades. Ray Low and Cindy Bruce took prizes. Winners in the fifth, sixth and seventh grades were Bobby Klapperich and Debbie Harvey. Junior high and high school winners were Bonnie Bruce and Linda Low. Adult winners were Mrs. White and Mrs. Bacon. Taking the grand prizes were Phyllis Ackerman and Donna Barker. Following the prize awards. Doris Low and Kay Adams served pop. cider, coffee and doughnuts to all present. Acknowledgement goes to Mr. Pearson, Mr. Butler and Mr. and Mrs. Wieser for their donations of pop for the party. Also to Mrs. Pearson, Mrs. Dowell and Mrs. Slonehis for a c t i n g as t h e j u d g e s and awarding the silver dollars. The school children along with their teachers, Mrs. London, Mrs. Mecklenberg and Mr. Smejhals are to be complimented on the exceptionally nice job of decorating the rooms and windows for the party. We have some prettytalented youngsters from the leoks of the decorations. Ila Hogari and Mrs. Nellie Hepburn. Mrs. Hogan has been a patient at the McHenry hospital for several days and should be home at this writing. Mrs. Hepburn, is recuperating in her home following a fall she took in the home of her sister at Kenosha. Senior Hi M.Y.F. News Nov. 2 and 3 were the dates chosen by the Ringwood and Spring Grove M.Y.Fers for their yearly planning retreat. The theme of the ratre&t, held in Kirkland, was "Giving Thanks." Both groups left Ringwood's church at 6:30 Friday evening. Two planning sessions were held on Saturday and several months programs were planned in advance. The two groups returned home at 4:30 Saturday afternoon. Next Sunday the "Ringwooders" will visit the M.Y.Fers at. McHenry. All members are asked to bring their parents to the Nov. 18 meeting for a specially planned program. Featured Speaker The next community club meeting will be on Nov. 20 at 8:15 p.m. and will feature a speaker whose topic will be "Emergency First Aid." A large turnout is expected for this meeting. Mrs. Shirley Woodward and son, Timmy, of Madison, Wis., spent • Thursday in the home of her parents, the L. E. Hawleys. A caller in the Mrs. Nellie Hepburn home on Saturday was Mrs. Matt Scheid. Mrs. Rubv Shepard spent the weekend at the home of her daughter and family, the Allen Aingers at Hebron. Mrs. Nellie Hepburn was a caller in the heme of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Freund in McHenry on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Hawley and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Reinwall of McHenry were dinner guests of the Andy Hawleys at Fox River Grove. Sunday. On Thursday, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kunz and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Kunz and daughter, Robin, visited Robin's greatereat- grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hammond, at Chicago. A caller in the Mrs. Nellie Hepburn home on Saturday morning was Lu Allen of Des Plaines. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bert and Skip of Wonder Lake were callers in the Bob Brennan home on Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. C. Brennan and Mrs. Nellie Hepburn were McHenry callers on Sunday. Mrs. Bob Brennan, Bobby, Patty and Linda, were Richmond and Woodstock visitors on Saturday. Martes, effective with the academic year 1062- '63. Dr. Duncan was appointed to the Lena Gohlman Fox Chair of Instruction at Rice university. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago and went to Rice for the first time this year as a visiting professor of sociology.
