Triple Celebration The Len Lawrence family went into Chicago to ihe home of Dolores' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hayner. Nov. 22 was a triple celebration date as her two nieces were both born on that day five years apart. Ona sister is 13 and the other is 8 so everyone enjoyed the combination Thanks giving and birthday dinner. Pam and Jackie Radner vacationed two days in the home of their sister, Sandy, in Glen Elyn where they enjoyed playing with their baby niece. Friday Betty Radner took her daughter, Cynda, on a shopping tour and out to lunch. Ginger Griffeth modelled a lovely fur-trimmed robe at the Moose hall Sunday. She will soon be five years old. The Mel Stephenson family went to the home of Kay's mother, Mrs. DeVinny, in Chicago. The Robert Grom family went to the home of Mrs. Minnie Grom in Barrington where eighteen sat around the table for their Thanksgiving Day feast. Guest for Thanksgiving dinner in the Harry Brodin home was Marjorie's mother, Mrs. Howard Williams. Later in the day Mr. and Mrs. Tony Phillips and children came over for coffee and pie. The Betke family including grandfather Betke went to Rockford for their Thanksgiving dinner in the home of Ed's sister, husband, and children. Fred and Olive Mueller shared their Thanksgiving with their daughter, Mrs. Richard Lehmann, and two children from Milwaukee. George, Nancy, and Darcy Marcotte spent Thanksgiving in the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Marcotte, Sr., in Lake Zurich. The Bill Huemann family went to visit both sets of parents Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Crokin of McHenry, and sister and brot heroin-law, Cathy and Edward Penner from Johnsburg, came over on Thursday and on Friday guests were Gail's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Johnson of McHenry, and grandfather, Mr. Hazlett, from Berwyn. The Lenny Hansen family got together via telephone when son, Dennie, called from Texas where he is stationed. The Larry Petersen family got together Thanksgiving at Larry's brother's, the D. V. Thanksgiving day the Ed Radner family journeyed to Chicago's far South side where the family gathered in the home of Harold Lightholder. Lynn and June Stuart and Don and Leah Grabbe shared their Thanksgiving dinners together in the Stuart home. Tom Simpson's parents and brother, Father Simpson, were out to spend Thanksgiving Day. The grandparents took the three Simpson children home with them for the holidays. Birthday Get-togethers Steven R o h r e r had his friends in for his birthday. Delores Pickett had a wonderful time at her birthday party with several of her classm a t e s S a t u r d a y a f t e r n o o n . Birthday dinner and cake were served and guests were her grandparents. Holiday Gatherings The Fred Woodbury family went to Chicago for the holidays to the home of Pam's brother, Howard Eklund. They spent the days visiting, watching TV, playing cards, bowling, dancing, and also went to the Chicago loop to shop and have lunch. The Robert Kellogg family spent the Thanksgiving holidays in Indianapolis in the home of Pat's sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Baldwin. Pat's parents were also there visiting. Marie Dallon, David, and Michael, went into Chicago on Wednesday as her aunt Alice McNamara had eye surgery. Brownie pins were presented to leader Betty Radner, co-leader Kay Stephenson, committee members Mrs. Gerald Biederer, Mrs. Lew Kellogg, and Mrs. Tom Simpson. Also to new Brownies Jackie Biederer, Celeste Doherty, Janet and Janice Engstrom, Vicky Gruhn, Charlene Jenner, Laurie Kellogg, Donna Meyer, Jane Miller, Pamela Radner, Martha Simpson and Betsy Stephenson. One year membership star pins went to Melody Iverson, Patty McHale, and Priscella Mclntyre. Susan Newlon received her second year membership pin. At their Nov. 21 meeting new officers were elected. Charlene Jenner is now president, Pam Radner is treasurer, Celeste Doherty is scribe, and Janice Engstrom is the hostess. Cookie hostess was Laurie Kellogg. At their Nov. 28 meeting they practiced with the committee members for the investiture program. Patty McHale 'was the cookie hostess. Priscilla Mclntyre will be the next cookie hostess. Eastwood Manor Property V Owner's Association E.M.P.O.A. met Friday, Nov. 213, in the barn. Many things were discussed and a committee was picked for a children's Christmas party. Plans so far are made for Dec. 22 at 2 o'clock at the American Legion hall in McHenry. After the committee holds their first meeting we will have more detailed information for you but right now get out your pen and circle the date on your calendars. Committee members are Bill Brogan, chairman, Kay Mitchell, Larry Moore, and Frieda Durkin. Any additions to this list I'll have to put in next week. / ^ Bridge Club Rita Simpson won first prize, Marilyn Truck e n b r o d won travelling prize, and Mary Hadley won the booby prize Wednesday evening at the meeting of the Bridge Club. Pat Kellogg was the hostess and served open-faced sandwiches. Pink and Blue Shower June Stuart and Tony Olson gave a baby shower for Lee Grabbe in the Stuart home. Twenty guests arrived with very lovely gifts for the weeone- to-be. 'They were served sandwich loaves, chips, relishes, a big beautiful cake, and coffee. Bunco Club Bunco club met Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the home of Mrs. Ann Ritter where they were served a delicious cream cheese cake. Frieda Durkin walked off with both the Bunco prize and the first prize. Kay Mitchell took the booby prize. New member is Jeanne McHale. Grand Opening In Science Reading Room First Church of Christ Scientist, Woodstock, will mark another milestone in its fiftv"> year history when it holds the grand opening of its new reading room located in the Miller theatre building on Main street in Woodstock. The . public is invited to attend the opening from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. The Woodstock church, a branch of the Mother church. The First Church of Christ Scientist, in Boston, Mass., wa( organized as a Christian Science Society July 30, 1912. In 1936 the frame building which housed the church, was razed and the present stone building was erected. Services in the new building were first held Sunday, August 22, 1937.
