There will be an array of tempting dishes and two kinds of punch, plus a multitude of games for entertainment. All in all, it should be-a very pleasurable evening^and one which should put everyone in a gala holiday mood. Each guest is asked to bring a one dollar gift suitable lor exchange. of W. Parkview. Our very boat wishes to the entire family. Among- the Navy's Finest It was very pleasurable on Monday morning to greet two fine representatives of the United States Navy. The young men were Bob Gates and his Women of the Moose Tuesday night, Dec. 4, a meeting of the Women of the Moose was held. Our senior regent, Alyce Kowal, is still on the sick list and Olga Johnson', junior regent, was unable to friend, Ted Strehlau of Park!attend. Lillian Cox, chaplain, Ridge. The two of them had !was the acting senior regent just completed their basic|for the evening. This was Liltraining in San Diego and are j lian's first time to fill the making preparations to be in i chair, but she did a very nice Memphis, Tenn., on Sunday, job. Modem Day S?u«ta i Several community youn«- j sters are thinking of Bill Walter as snme kind of a Sf-nta Claus. He and two other fellas gathered up the .small frylast Saturday and took them for a "thrill of a lifetime jaunt to the city to see the real "Mr. Claus". Bill ca.ioled and begeed for train tickets from all h'.s friends and then sixteen young boys and girls were given a train ride (double decker job) to Chicago. Upon their arrival, all were given a li rht breakfast, since it was before 8 a.m. when they left. Then it was down to the loop to the wonders of Christinas displayed in two very prominent stores for the traditional chat with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. One of the highlights of the trip for our country reared youngsters was the thrill of the escalators. Lunch consisted of hamburgers, of course, with suitable trimmines and then the joy of t h e d e l i g h t f u l h o m e w a r d journey. Bill had help in keeping track of hi> brood from Ole Olsen and Bob Fernandez who also helped "p:ck uo the tub". The lucky kids included Bruce and J. R. Walter; Jackie, Corky and Brad Whitney: Yolanda and Gloria Fernandez; Bernke Biork; Dierdre and Levesnuo; Margie Olsen: Michael and Frank Loreh: Carol-«*»d-Dawn Ingersol; and Donny Burg. This is the fourth and fifth year that Bill has undertaker this proieot and we think he truly desenes "verbal orchids"! This is Jake's drill weekend and he has a trip scheduled to that city which coincides with the boys' due date, so it looks as though *hey will ride on one of the R5D's to their destina- • tion. I louny Slrehlau's parents are I well iiequainied with Cmdr. ! Matousc-k of Park Ridge so it ; was like old home week Monday. Bob's course will be of 14-18 i weeks duration at N.A.T.T.C., j Memphis. He will study strucj tural mechanics. Ted's course w 11 last about 30 weeks in the electronic technician department. Sounds like plentyof homework for both! They both hold ilie rating, of airman apprentice now. We know how proud Vi and Ben ha\e been to have their hindsome lad with them and hate to see leave. There was a long business meeting with a lot of discussion. Our Christmas party will be at the next meeting, Dec. 18. The meeting is to start at 8, with the party afterward. This will be followed with our pot-luck, so everyone bring a dish to pass. Also, we' will have a dollar grab bag. on i This year we are asking every- | one to bring an item for the grocery basket for a needy family. If we can, we will give two baskets. The chapter was sad to learn Worthy Business Men (and Women) The youn^ ladies have given plenty of support but it has fallen to the young lads to carry the load of selling Christmas trees on the McDonald p r o p e r t y t h e p a s t w e e k . Though the winds have blown and the snow has fallen they have paid particular attention to their enterprise and showing great gains. They have plenty more trees on hand and just need plenty of CUSTOMERS! Accident Prone? , We sure hope she isn't, but this is the third accident in one year for wee Cheryl Tharker who broke her toe recently. She was playing with her dad's bowling ball when 'he l'ttle member received the b e a t i n g . A c c n r d ' n g t o t h e medic's x-ray, it is definitely broken. Poor mom! Signs of Yule Beauiiful Jhrisimas lightng is breaking up the gloom fhese nights lrom many homes and the rest is yet to come. >con we will hear the lovely mus:c emanating from the home of Berniee and Whitey n-jork and then you will know ;t is time to get your Christmas shonping completed. Another sign of Christmas is the handsome Santa Claus float making the rounds of McHenry, as of Monday. It is with a great deal of pride that it be noted that two of our local youngsters constructed the float. They are daughter, him i ^'hrys Levesque and Dennis Huff who will do a "stand-in" job for ol' St. Nick. The project is under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce. Natal 'Daze" A handsome lad of 16 is Jim Morris today, Dec. 13, and greetings of the day also"to neighbor, Jay Crick. . . .Nine candles on the cake for daughter, D. D. Best wishes to alL That winds up another news week and if this cold weather keeps up, we 11 all need our " s n u g g i e s " . See you n e x t Thursday. of the death of Marcelle Carlson's husband, Harry. Our sympathy to her. Nancy Bowman was in charge of refreshments and with the help of her social service committee did a nice job of serving. The name drawn for the auendance awaru lor the last meeting was Theria Huff and the name drawn for this meeting was Eddie Myers. Neither person was present so they did not receive the prize. On Sunday Dec. 2, the homemaking committee held their style show. Jean Green was the chairman «in charge, and with her committee a very interesting day was had by all. The models in this show were all children of members. They were as follows: Peter Kasperske, Robert Thompson, Cin- "^v Pflug, Leah Lennon, Pam Low, Tami and Dannie Fernstrom, Yvonne and Carol Strach, Sharon and Carol Sturmer, Cindy Pohlman, Mary and Michael Granath, Krista Justen, Danny, Gregory and Deborah Green, Tamara Rybak, Doris Ann and Sally Tomasello, Renee Bennett, Karen and Robin Roewer, Lora and Kelly O'Kane. A grand job of narrating was done by Jean Green. Marion Pflug played t he music to accompany the models. On Dec. 6, our. Green Cap girl, Ethel Bruce, went to Green Cap Night at Harvard. College of Regents member, Mabel Thomas, accompanied her. Speakers for the evening were a College of Regents member from the Harvard chapter and Imogene Rucksthul, a former depuly grand regent from Crystal Lake. Mc- Henry had two members present. Our Green Cap girl fired the chair of junior regent for the evening. A good time was had by all. It is always very interesting to visit wittf other members of the Women of the Moose.
