For those pondering a suitable one, and for those who would like to add a much appreciated extra, may we suggest that drivers consider as their gift -- Safety. Extremely cold weather and icy road conditions very often have an effect on the accident- toll exactlycontrary to what might be expected. Very often the fatality list is cut sharply because motorists either refrain, from anything but necessary driving or cut down oir their speed. As encouraging as the facts seem, they can hardlybe expected to hold true on Christmas without drivers* cooperation, for this is the one day when it seems imperative that families and friends be together. So magic is the season in many respects that drivers seem to feel it will carry over to safety on the highway as they hurry on their way. Unfortunately, the magic spell too often fails, and the sad result is tragedy. Last year the Christmas holiday period was morehazardous than the rest of December, but out of these statistics comes one encouraging note. In recent years the New Year's holiday period has been one of less hazard for the motorist. It is believed that warnings before! and after Christmas have had a cautionary effect as the new year began. Approaching another holiday, we might well remember that courtesy is a major factor in safe driving, and what better gift can we give this Christmas to family, friends and tfrat unknown driver coming our way? The experts tell us it is possible to make 589,960 different combinations from the fiftytwo cards in a standard deck. Park Dec. 11. Shs was the mother of Dominic Volpendesta of McHenry.
