Howie tried to battle the fire but 1hc Johnsburg Rescue squad came to his • id. When ever I see the Rescue Squad corninsr to our aid, I feel safe and grateful to these men: -incc we are wholly dependent en them for ^!1 aid. The Mc- Ilcnry Township fire department is prompt in coming to 'he Highlands too. We in the Highlands who have been aided by these men fully realize what their aid really means. Just as I was ready to send in the copy this week I had a call that Joe Gregg underwent sur;ceiy at the McHenry hospital Jan. 18. We are so sorry. He went in over a week ago for tests but we are sure Joe will come out of it fine. We wixh him luck. Herb and Lnrraifye Lindemann have been busy entertaining company. Last Sunday Wally and Kleanor Lindemann of Antioch paid them a unexpected visit which was very enpoyablc. Jan. 20 all of the children gathered at the home lor a family dinner. Harry antl his family, Marilyn and her family nnd Pat and her fiance, Chuck l>oth St. Mary's and St. Patrick's. Those from Holiday Hills who were confirmed were; Connie Abbink, Patty Balrd. Andrea Clark, John Connell, Gail Dunn, Nadine Graf, Tom Janik, John Laskowski, Loring Oik and Billy Schmidt. The Abbinks were hosts to approximately forty guests in celebration of Connie's confirmation. Aunt Laverno Berens was Connie's sponsor. John Connell, who made his confirmation at St. Patrick's church, had as his sponsor, his uncle, Harold Schwenk. . A large group of guests were expected, but Ihe bad weather scared most of them off. Tom Janik and John Laskowski traded Dads as sponsors and combined their celebration of the big occasion. Uncle Kddic Janik was sponsor for John Laskowki, ajid Uncle Lou Laskowski was sponsor for Tommy Janik. A roast beef dinner was served for friends and relatives of both families at Ihe Laskowski home. I'm sorry that I cannot give a complete report on all of the youngsters, but because of a very busy schedule, I was unable to contact any of them who did not call me.
