Vacation Filled With Sunshine Mrs. Dora Kennebeck "got out of town" just at the right time. She returned home last week after spending two and one half weeks in sunny Flordia. She had such a glorioustime that plans for a return trip next year are already in the offing. Mrs. Kennebeck made the trip with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holm of Woodstock. Honored at Shower Mrs. Marie Kruger was pleasantly surprised last Friday afternoon at the home of Marge Peterson. Marge held a pink and blue shower for the forthcoming Kruger heir. Fifteen relatives and friends were on hand to bestow gifts on the new baby-to-be. Home From The Hospital Our very best get-well wishes to Rev. Father Joseph Blitsch who spent several days in the McHenry hospital. Father Blitsch returned to his home over last weekend. Number Five Son , The seventh child and fifth son was born to Gerry and Marcella Wakitsch on Jan. 25. The 7 lbs. 2 oz. lad arrived at St. Therese's hospital in the wee hours of Friday morning. You can bet this youngster will have no trouble at all getting attention from Jan, Mary, Ricky, Tommy, Bobby and Joel. Congratulations to the Wakitsch family on their new addition. Ladies Night Banquet Plans The Johnsburg Community Club wishes to announce to its members that the annual ladies night banquet will be held on Saturday evening, April 27. Tickets will be available at the next meeting which will be held on Feb. 4. A jaid membership will be asked to be shown upon purchase of tickets. The entertainment committee requested all members who can purchase tickets early to do so. This will allow the committee to devote more time to other duties please keep in mind that banquet tickets will be limited. Don't be disappointed-- get your tickets early. Florida Bound Living from Chicagp by train early last Wedhesday mrarning were Mrs. Ollie Keenan and Joe Smith. Ollie was here almost three weeks during the illness and death of her mother. Mr. Smith accompanied his niece to Pompano Beach, Fla., where he was met by his daughter, Mrs. Irene Tamasy. He will spend several weeks as a gur-t>t in the Tamasy home. Mrs. Smith will spend 1his time visiting her family in Rockford. Oeffling Baby Raptized The infant daughter of Frank and Judy Oeffling of Sunnyside Beach was baptized last Sunday afternoon at St. John's church hy Father Weidemann. Sally Joan was the name chosen for the new baby. She arrived on Jan. 16 and weighed a healthy pounds at birth. Her godparents were Mr. arflfi Mrs. Dan Green of McHenry. Present in the Oeffling home for a buffet supper besides the sponsors were: the grandparents Mr. and Mrs. George Oelfling, Sr. Also on hand were: the families of Joe Passanante and George Pugh of Bensenville and the Ed Gallas family and the Don Lundl)oargs and son all of Wonder Lake. Rescue Squad Calls Once again the Johnsburg rescue squad was called upon to lend their first aid assistance. On Saturday they received a call from a nearby resident when his neighbor fell out of doors. Surprised Birthday Party The filth, sixth and seventh graders successfully planned a surprise birthday party for their teacher, Arthur Smejhal. This was entirely a student planned affair. A more surprised man? there couldn't be. The boys and girls had punch and cup cakes with jello. Thej presented Mr. Smejhal with a gift Certificate. These youngsters did a wonderful job in showing their teacher their appreciation for all he's done. Happy birthday, Mr. Smejhal! Celebrates 4th Birthday Last Saturday, Jan. 26, Janet May Kestle celebrated her fourth birthday, with a party in her home. Sick Notes Jerry" Tonyan has returned home and is well on the road to recovery from a recent tonsillectomy at Memorial Hospital for McHenry County. Birthday A group of neighbors and friends gathered in the Mrs. Ruby Shepard home last Thursday afternoon to surprise her on her birthday. Mrs. Shepard was surprised and happy. Mrs. Hacker of McCullom Lake visited in the home of Mrs. Nellie Hepburn on Saturday morning. Mr. qrid Mrs. Earl Sonnemaker jyid children have returned to Detroit after spending several weeks visiting her folks, the John Hogans. Mel and Edie Iverson are very pleased with the addition of little Donald Gilbert to their family. Blonde Donald Gilbert was born in Walt her Memorial ho&pitpl in Chicago and weighed 6 lbs. 5 ozs. Waiting to welcome him home were his three sisters,Melody, Cindy and Barbie, and brother, Kelvin. Also waiting for their first peek at the little guy were his grandmother Vanderberg of California and auntie Joyce Vanderberg from No. Dak. Eastwood Manor Property Owner's Association The regular meeting of our E.M.P.O.A. was Friday evening, Jan. 18. The meeting was well attended and opened by the president, A1 Bianchi. Many future plans were discussed. The slough is to be flooded for skating when the weather permits. A committee was chosen for the coming St. Patrick's Day dance. The bake sale results are not in at the time of this writing but I undei stand the co-operation they are getting from all the ladies in the Manor is really wonderful. We also hope to obtain the names of the gals who s<ild the goodies Saturday, Jan. 26. Plans to remodel the barn are also being made with an able committee l)ehind them to many through. There also was a great deal of discission for a teen club to be formed in the very near future.
