This time it was the Klondike Kapers held at Crystal Lake in Walkup Park on Saturday, Jan- 26. There ^rere approximately 200 boys in attendance including Neil Davis. Donnie and Paul Voight and John Rau from Troop 144, plus their scou* leader, Ray Jensen. One of the unique things thoy did was to experiment with soup. Each of the attending boys was to brim; a can of soup and you might know that out of 200 boys ikmm was certainly every variety available. The cam were all emptied into one lar^e •kettle and the outcome was their lunch. I'm told it tasted »-pretty good. The boys did i liumber of other things includ 4ng making an eskimo sled and going tobogganing. At the end of the day, each boy received a patch as a reward for his 'efforts. Surprise In Store On Saturday, Jan. 16, Flo and Barb Jesski went to Amboy, 111., to pick up Grandma Dawid and bring her to our *r*- community for awhile. When Barb called the last few tiines it seemed that Gram wasn't feeling too well. Since she has been here she visited the doctor and is feeling better. .To add to this Flo and Barb took Gram into Chicago to visit one of her sons, Peter Dawid, on Saturday. On Sunday, Feb. 3, Peter took Gram •buck home to Amboy where a i&rprise birthday party will be -given for her. Gram supports a jglj^ong seventy-six years and .the family hopes to see her JQ*ound for many more. ;«a*« L ' H o m e A g a i n ^Got a call from Marge De- ^9rancisco telling me she is home again after her recent stay in Chicago due to jgness. Another person on our sick list was Millie Kropf. She w«h sick in bed foi the past week, and it Millie was in bed, you know she was mighty sick. She's feeling some better as of this writing and by the time you read this, she'll probably have her whole house torn apart again, cleaning like mad. St. John's ParMi Mondayv-Jan. 28, brought the children of our school home with their report cards. There were pome happy and some not so happy souls around I would tjuess. Monday evening brought the Home and School Association meeting, which I was unable to attend. Then, on Sunday, Feb. 3, there was the pancake breakfast sponsored by the Catholic Youth ot Johnsburg. The food was delicious. Father Blitseh is doing nicely, recuperating at home and we should be seeing him out and about if and when the weather ever breaks. Girl Scouts Troop 295 held their weekly meeting at the Waloznski residence this past week. The girls and I had a fun time making something for the mothers for Valentine's Day. After we completed this we .,ot started on another project. Refreshment hostess was Chcry Patterson, who brought a cake she had baked herself to celebrate her birthday with the girls. Cheryl became a teenager on Feb. 2. On Saturday, Feb. 9, the meeting will be held at the Palmer residence. A young fellow accidentally shot a rifle at the television screen when carried away by his desire to protect his favorite cowboy from the bad guys. I guess the cowboy saved himself; they always do, but that TV tube lost the fight real good. His Mother will be finding pieces of glass for a long time.
