Association News The Lilymoor association held its monthly meeting Tuesday March 12. Before the business on hand was taken care of the members enjoyed seeing slides and a talk on the Valley Hi Nursing home. The main business on hand was the increase on the garbage service effective April 1 of this year. There has been some misunderstanding on this. It is not an increase on the dues, but an increase on the garbage service. All members will be notified of the increase. The next monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, April 9, in the large hall of Club Lilymoor at 8 p.m. Junk Cars There are several junk cars in the subdivision again. And a lot of residents are complaining about this. If the cars standing around and are without 1963 plates and are not removed the sheriff will be notified about them. The sheriff will then tow the junks away. The owners will have to pay the towing charges and any other expenses that are involved. Why not call a junk dealer and have him haul the junk car away and save yourself some money. In fact the junk dealer might even give you some money fbr the junlj car. VOTER May I get my foot in the door? We have all heard the old cliche' that taxes like death are unavoidable. Though granting that philosophy must we also be convinced that there is no line drawn between justified taxation or a continually mounting oppressive burden. As <a brother taxpayer I can readily appreciate the need for growing levies as a community develops and requires more services, but I have already noted many instances where <a judicial brake on spending could be applied on proposals now before our board of supervisors for consideration. Some of these propsals are laudable and noteworthy but others would require a long careful study as to their necessity and contribution to the general welfare of our township. This is where discretion and a truly independent Supervisor with unfettered voting and thinking enters the picture. Let us never forget that with confiscatory taxation those to suffer most will be our senior citizens living on fixed incomes or pensions, our young married groups raising families and attempting to pay for homes and the middle -age circle who are struggling to give their older offspring college educations which are constantly mounting in cost. We are not all wealthy and £his I believe to be extremely important. After mature reflection, it should be obvious to all that in order to achieve -a lessening of tax pressure we must first attempt to establish economic stability, using an efficient county and township government as our first step forward and last but not least a careful scrutiny of all impending measures which will increase ourtax rate in the future. Many of you will scoff at the thought of easing taxation, so may I call your attention to our neighboring city of Waukegan which is effecting a tax reduction during the 1963 fiscal year. Despite a burgeoning population, an increase in services and other unusual expenditures, their property tax rate is being reduced. IT CAN HAPPEN HERE See you next week? » * VOTERS PARTY 0 Bernard J.
