After Mass the members Will be served a delicious breakfast, courtesy of the Holy Name Society who do a grand job with the breakfast. After the breakfast the regular monthly meeting will be held, so please mark it on your calendar. The April 9 meeting will not be held. Blount Hope " ".Methodist Church Notes ' "On Good Friday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. there will be the Service of Holy Communion to be served around the table, in 'the upper room of the church. Since the Lenten services have been well attended we are sure this beautiful service will be fully attended. Reverend Smith Is busy preparing the beautiful Sunrise services for Easter Sunday to be held at 7 a.m. The board meeting was held March 25 and there was a very nice turn out for the meeting and it is hoped in the future that more members will be present for the meetings. The more who attend the smoother things can run and the more can be accomplished. The main topic discussed at this meeting was getting the canvasses completed. The committee for the organ fund raisers are well pleased With the way money is coming in for the new organ. Please bring your coupons from gasoline to church for further information on this new fund raising project you may contact Dud Gregg. Reverend Smith is real pleased with the large attendance at church services and the first Sunday of Spring the church was filled. The Confirmation classes are being well attended and the instructions are coming along real well. The W.S.C.S. met for its regular monthly meeting April 2, at 12::30 in the church meeting hall. A nursery Sunday class for 3 and 4 year olds has been formed. Classes begin at 9:45 a.m. Mrs. Fritz VonBruenchenheim is the teacher for this class and she now has nine children in attendance: You are invited to send your little tots to this class. A new adult Sunday School class has been formed and the services are conducted by Reverend Smith. Classes start at 9:45 a.m. There is still baby sitting services for adult members who wish to attend church services. They have nine mothers who have volunteered to baby sit and they can use more help. So if you are interested in helping out with baby sitting you're most welcome. Fun Fair At Johnsburg School The annual fun fair which gets bigger and better every year, will be held April 6 at the Johnsburg school from 4 to 9 p.m. Birthdays And Anniversaries March 30, Kevin Kitterinan celebrated his fourth birthday with a party. March 25, Lil Orlowski celebrated her birthday of March 24, with Kay Sielisch who enjoyed a delicious luncheon with all her favorite dishes and a piece of birthday cake, Sunday Dorothy and Richie and Ruth and Jack Rathnow of Ingleside helped make the day real nice for Lil, Leo presented her with a very beautiful cake. A big greeting to the folks who will be busy celebrating their big days are Cheryl Ann Tomao who will be 12, April 9; to my second Dad and constant companion, Leo Orlowski, who will celebrate his birthday April 7. It would be a nice gesture if every one irii the Highlands reading the column out of appreciation of all Leo has done for our community, would send him a card. I am sure it would please him very much. To Meryl Fletcher who celebrates April 6, to Diana Murgatroyd who celebrates April 10, and to Doris Hansen who celebrated her big day March 29. All the friends and neighbors of Joe and Liesl Hanisch send their best wishes to a wonder ful couple who will be adding another year to their marriage April 8. Convalescents Had a call from Hjordis Thome last week saying she is feeling fine but is not allowed to do a bit of work for a while and she enjoyed all the cards she received, Dan Johnson has been ill again. He had a very bad winter healthwise. Hojx; you will soon be back on your feet feeling ^ grand again. Theresa Rodgers is home froiri the hospital after quite a lenghty stay. Pete Cunningham was able to be out doors a bit March 23 with the aid of his son, Ray, and a cane. He ii pretty stiff yet and can not stand straight but is improving each day. Mr. Nato is home on sick leave after suffering a injured back at work. To you all we send sunny wishes for a speedy recovery. Let's drop them all a card to let them know they are thought of, it helps. and they made a trip to Meadow Hill Lane when a Are got out of hand, but it had been put out before they got here which was a waste of man power. Ellie was very happy to see everyone. March 27, Sally Jo Von- Bruenchenheim spent the day with a former neighbor, Marcia Weaver, who now resides in Wheatan. The Ullo family was happy to have their daughter, Linda, home for a couple of days from her studies at the convent in Rockford. She had come home to talk to the eighth graders of St. John's school and to attend F&ther Blitsch's funeral. March 21 Kay Reilly was pleased to have her sister from Chicago pay her an unexpected visit. Kay enjoyed her company all day. We are very happy to report that Jim Long escaped very serious injuries when his car was completly demolished in an accident on Route 12 March 25, near Lake Zurich. He was treated there by a local doctor and at the McHenry hospital where he was fitted with a collar for neck injuries and was able to return home. Glad it was not serious, Jim is a pretty wonderful fellow, hope your feeling fine now Jim. Those traveling Snells are off and running again. This time Roy and Gert leave April 6 for a vacation in Oaklawn where they will stay until May -, they will spend it resting, sitting back, relaxing and letting the world go by, couldn't happen to a nicer couple. Hurry back folks we will be missing you and your sense of humor have fun but don't forget all your pals in the Highlands. March 26 Ray Cunningham slipped and fell while taking the garbage cans out for pick up, injured his hip and back, Ray was taken by private ambulance to St. Therese hospital in Waukegan for x-rays and treatments. The Cunninghams have had a very bad winter, this is the second trip to the hospital for Ray, one for his wife, Sadie, and two for his Dad, Pete. All your friends and send their best and hope things will be brighter for you. March 28, Liesl Hanisch and Kay Sielisch spent the day in Woodstock r on business and shopping. They enjoyed having lunch too. Making full use of the seat belts in your car is not a waste of time. Jim Long owes his life and not being seriously injured to the habitual use of his seat belts, a good practice to cultivate. Amy Jo Jackson is back to school this week after having a good case of mumps. Looks like the Jacksons will have t* long siege of them since they have five kiddies. Holy week the most sacred time of the year for all faiths will begin April 7, Palm Sunday, so let's all attend the church of our faith and during this holy time try to be kind to one another. Leona received many lovely gifts from the women. I We Farewell are all saying farewell A Farewell Party was held for Leona Fantus Monday, March 25, at the home of Diane Fuhler. Those who surprised Leona were Isabelle Karmel, LaVerne Schueler, Lanore Besserud, Eunice Tobey, Alma Huckto Herb and Leona Fantus and family. The Fantus family has resided here in Lilymoor for seventeen years and has moved to Waukegan. We are sorry to see you move, Herb and Leona, please come back and see' all your friends. Woman's Club Notes The regular monthly meeting held March 27, was an evening with a very full agenda. The meeting was called to order promptly at 8 p.m. The nominating committee presented the candidates for office for president Barbara Miller, vice president, Jaunita Blackburn, and Kathy Weber secretary, Rose Marie Koch and Sally Jo VonBruenchenheim, treasurer, Irene Kolan and Janice Janquart. Nomination from the floor will be extended until the April meeting, when it is hoped we will get another candidate to run for president to complete the slate. Dorothy Jenkins was the leader in making the most cancer pads for the American Cancer society. She was presented a small token for her worthy efforts and received a big hand from all the members. Over 250 pads were made during the month and that is a very good start. The annual banquet will be held April 24, at 7 p.m. at the Sail Inn in Fox Lake. We will be enjoying a delicious roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. Eleanor Wroblewski and Barb Sisk will take all reservations, please get your money and reservations to either of the girls before April 15, which is the deadline. After the dinner the regular monthly meeting will be held and the election of officers. All members look forward to this event. After the close of the meeting the cancer film "Is Smoking Worth It?" was shown and after the film was completed, Doctor Lee Gladstone gave a talk on cancer of the lungs and I noted that while he was talking all the smokers were sansi cigarettes.
