Cub Scout Pack Meeting Attention: parents of Cubbers, there will be a pack meeting Monday, April 15, at the community house at 7 p.m. Let's have a nice turn out for this meeting. Refreshments will be served. their husband and father, Alton* Braem. Mr. Braem, age 76, passed away last Wednesday, April 3, at Hines hospital where he had been confined for nine weeks. Lakelank Park Couples Bowling League Last Saturday was sweepstake night for the Lakeland Park Couples bowling league as well as the play off between the first place team of the first half captained by Marv George and the first place team of the second half captained by Clar Haerle. Clar's team was handicapped by the absence of Rich Janzcak and took quite a beating losing all three games by quite a margin. The,, sweepstake money was divided six ways, first second and third for the ladies and first second and third for the men. Those ladies winning sweepstake money were Dorothy Becker with 60 pins over average, Anne Wohnrade with 59 pins over, and Eleanor Haerle with 47 pins over. The men were Ron Meurer with 158 pins over average, Bill Jaenicke with 74 pins over and Rich Wohnrade with 20 pins over. Congratulation to all you lucky people. We've ali had a lot of fun bowling together and will miss these Saturday nights, but hope we will all get together again next year for another successful bowling season. Birthday Doings A surprise birthday was given for Ron Meurer last Friday night as the fellows, Bob Matthews, Max Koch, Marv George and Ron were playing cards at Max Koch's home. The ladies arrived about 11 p.m. to join or I should say disrupt their card playing for coffee and cake. On Sunday afternoon Ron's folks, Mr. and Mrs Will Meurer, and Barb's mother, Mrs. Miller, came up for a roast beef dinner and birthday cake and ice crcam. Joe Parisi celebrated his birthday with a delicious chicken dinner at his mother's last Sunday. Those helping him celebrate were his wife, Gail, sons, Joey, Stevie and Tony, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Slonina and children, Karen, Judy and Mark, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Parisi, Margaret Jean Parisi and1 his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Parisi, and Scotty Austin. Lennarson, a senior at Waukegan Township high school, has been named winner ofsthe 1963 Golden Jubilee scholarship of District 26, Illinois Congress of Parents and Teachers. She is the"9 daughter of Mrs. V. E. Lennarson, 462 Glendenning Place. Mrs. Lester Keepper made the annuoncement after thirtyone applicants from fourteen high schools in tlje three-county area -- Lake, Boone and McHenry-- which make up District 26 in the Illinois Congress, were considered by the committee of P.T.A. and school officials at their meeting at North Chicago high school. Ann will receive the scholarship in amounts of $125 per college semester. The $1,000 scholarship may supplement any other awards the winner may receive. It may be used at any college but the recepient must teach for two years in the state of Illinois following graduation. Applicants are scored on desire to at the Moose in Elgin. LIVESTOCK TEST The Illinois Department of Agriculture has warned live stock farmers to be certain that animals purchased from out of state have been properly tested and are accompanied by approved health certificates or permits as required by lawt and regulations of the state Agriculture Department's Division of Livestock Industry. Dr. Roy A. Thompson, superintendent of livestock industry, said this caution applies particularly to dairy and breeding cattle.
