Jonathan Crokln Christened Sunday Jonathan Bruce Crokin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bruce Crokin, 2110 W. Mill lane, Mc- Henfy. was christenci on Sunday. April 7, at the Community Methodist church by Rev. Ernest Carder. Richard Johnson was sponsor. Following the ceremony, a buffet dinner°was served at the Crokin home. Guests included the proud grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Crokin and Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Johnson; also Richard and Carl Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Penner. This was followed by an open house in honor of the christening and to celebrate the Roger Crokins' second wedding anniversary on April 8. Thirty-four friends were present. Day Camp director- this year will be Mrs. Aiice Bieschke, who has just completed a four-day training course offered by Sybaquay council at their Hawthorne Hills camp. The regular monthly meeting of the Adult Girl Scout workers of Valley View neighborhood will be held at the American Legion hall on Wednesday, April 17, at 1 p.m. Troop leaders who cannot attend' this meeting sihould see that a troop committee representative is present. The second session of Program Change training is scheduled to be hold at the McHenry high school, in Room 102, from 7 to 10 p.m. on April 22, 24 and 30. Ross of Salem, became the bride of Mr. William Wallace Watkins of McHenry, eon of Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Watkins of Sparland, 111. Rev. Emil Sauer officiated at the marriage, which took place at 4 'oclock in the afternoon in the first Presbyterian church. The church ^as decorated for the occasion with palms, snapdragons and daisies. Soloist for the wedding was Charlotte Holt, who sang "O Perfect Love", and. "I Love Thee". The bride, giveji in marriage at the double ring ceremony by her father, was charming in a hand clipped chantilly lace over taffeta dress, with four-tiered chapel length skirt. It was styled with scalloped sabrina neckline, fitted bodice, long, pointed sleeves, and daintily embellished with iridescent sequins and pearls at the neckline and on the full skirt. Her silk illusion, three-tiered bouffant veil fell from a hand clipped chantilly lace pillbox crown highlighted with iridescent sequins and pearls. Her pearl earrings were a gift of the groom. Miss Ross carried a gold Bible with a cascade bouquet of white tiered roses and stephanotis. The Bible belonged to her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Harry Ross, of Newton, 111., and was given to her by the bride on her grandparents' fiftieth wedding anniversary. Attending Miss Ross were Mrs. L. W. Wilson of Carmi, her sister, as matron of honor, Mrs. Norman Zierke of Elgin and Mrs. Theresa Wagoner of Belleville as bridesmaids and Miss Peggy Wilson of Carmi, niece of the bride, as junior bridesmaid. They were attired in waltz length gowns of fern green organza over taffeta, with satin trim and sabrina necklines, and carried yellow roses and daisies. Their tiara headpieces were of ma/tching fabric, with veils. Dave Watkins of Akron, Ohio served his brother as best man, and groomsmen were L. W. Wilson of Carmi, brother-in-law of the bride, A. C. Kaser of Rockford, cousin of the bride, Joe Cetner and Joe Black of Salem. Bob Wilson, nephew of the bride, lighted the candles prior to the service. Mrs. Ross selected for her daughter's wedding a rose beige lace dress over brown taffeta, with beige accessories and a baby orchid corsage. Mrs. Watkins wore a pink organza dress over taffeta, with matching accessories and similar corsage. A reception for 200 guests followed at the Elks club, after which the couple left on a trip to Hot Springs, Ark., the bride travelling in a three-piece apricot- colored suit with beige accessories and white rose corsage. Upon their return they will reside at 2609 N. Sequoia, McHenry. The bride graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS degree and the groom received his education at the University of Illinois and Bradley university, Peoria. She is employed as music teacher at Hilltop and' Landmark schools, and he is an employee of Northern Illinois Gas company, Crystal Lake. The visiting high school juniors and seniors will join in discussion groups with instructors, attend a presentation by the School of Drama, the Opera Theatre, a College Conference of Illinois baseball game, a jazz concert, a dance, and fraternity serenades. The two-day schedule on campus includes typical experiences in the life of a student at Illinois Wesleyan University. The club will give their program in the Junior high school th:« year to provkle ample room for the large chorus and for audiences which have recently been too great for the high school auditorium. For the second sppring season, an orchestra has been forme# to accompany the sixty- three singers in the concluding numbers. They will provide accompaniment for Irene Keim. who will be soloist on "Italian Street Song," with choral background, will also play selections from "The Student Prince" to bring the program to a close. The theme of the concert is "The High Road and the Low Road" opening with the impressive "Give Me Your Tired and Your Poor," which contains the inscription on the base cf the Statue of Liberty. The chorus, through various scenes, will develop that theme by portraying, in song, the mingled heritage of the thousands who have been welcomed by the Statue, and the paths followed by succeeding generations. One section will be en tin tied "Sun and Shadows", devoted to the great outdoors; another, "Plain and Fancy", portraying the various social classes in one part of the country; a third, "Calico and Lace", based on a street scene portraying both "sides of the track"; and the concluding portion, "Prince and Pauper", including operetta and operatic selections in keeping with the theme.
